Whats playing on your system today?

Today I decided to listen to two of my favorite rock guitar heros and one great vocalist. Guitarist' Robin Trower, Ronnie Montrose and vocalist Davey Pattison.

I listened to Trower songs:
Bridge of sighs, Stitch in time, The fool and me, my personal favorite- Too rolling stoned and others.....

Then I pulled out "Gamma".
I listened to: Razor King, Wish I was and Skin and bone and others.....

Davey Pattison hooked has also up with Michael Shenker also. I really enjoyed my day so far. Anybody else heard anything good?

nutty

Envy of None.  Two albums and an EP.  All three are awesome. It's not hard rock, but the lead guitarist is Alex Lifeson. Female vocalist.

Dvorak-Piano Trio No. 3-The Borodin Trio(Chandos CD 8320 1984)

Barry Manilow-2:00 AM Paradise Cafe(CD 1984/96)

A mellow and noir vibe jumpstarts an unusual Monday night vinyl session.

Nuthin’ dammit and I’m irritated because of it. I have shingles AND muscle spasms in the same place that the rash is located. I might be getting turretts too since I’ve hollered "dammit" now for 3-4 days because of the pain.that keeps hitting when it most unexpected times. This is nuts

The Who - in honor of Pete Townshend’s 80th birthday.  More common with classic rockers that have made it this far.  Robin Trower 80 this year.  Seeing him finally next month but passing on the latest Who retirement tour.  I’ve been going since they started retiring in 1980.  I might if it was somewhere other than Fenway Park.  Worst place for a concert.  So many obstructed view seats and seats that face the wrong way.  Terrible acoustics and the facilities are a joke.  To top it off the parking is expensive and you can’t tailgate.  Oh well, glad I saw them one last time in Quebec and happy birthday Pete!

greetings & kind regards

re/ guitarists please permit me to mention the late Terry Kath of Chicago. it is my understanding his work is well regarded by those who know more of such things than myself . some have even compared him to Jimmy Hendrix .

kind regards

Chicago (early) all day long baby Likewise Boogie Woogie as well .

  1. Early Billy Joel
  2. Chicago - in the Peter Cetera era
  3. Ten Years After - but nothin' past Alvin Lee (Thanks RADFRAD)
  4. Tom Petty - (Wildflowers collection)
  5. Robert Cray
  6. Christine McVie
  7. Closing out the evening with Royal Philharmonic BOND 50

Some good comments here. Happy to see many into classic rock. I like some of the grunge metal stuff too but for me the crux of it is the 60's + 70's stuff  Fortunately most of it nowadays has been cd 24 bit remastered and many SACD also. Some of the hybrid discs aren't quite up to par but the original single layer SACD's are all perfect. Investing in a real good player is definitely worthwhile. Dark side of the moon , brother's in arms , cheap thrills , blind faith , wheels of fire just to name a few

Did you listen to the new Counting Crows album?  Recently streamed it and it was worth a listen.

Eric Clapton - Meanwhile (2024)

SRV and Double Trouble - In Step (so easy to get lost in Riviera Paradise)

Jethro Tull - Teacher.  1st release from upcoming Still Living in the Past book box set.

Kathy Keane-A Classical Touch(CD 1999)

Holly Cole-The Best Of Holly Cole(CD Japanese 2011)

The George Shearing Quintet With Nancy Wilson-The Swingin’s Mutual(CD 1961/92)

The Thorn’s-ST(CD 2003)

A well deserved Sunday night vinyl is off with another diverse start.

@audi-owe

cool

I read the article about the original Brothers in Arms first DDD, spinning it now, I also have the hybrid disc, but no SACD

Emerson, Lake & Palmer,  Emerson, Lake & Palmer. The 2012 Remaster.

One of my Desert island 10 albums.

Great selections.  I have multiple versions of Brothers in Arms including the SACD.  Streaming the 40th anniversary edition and it sounds great as always with a bonus concert recording from their 85 tour for the album.  I just put together a Dire Straits playlist.  It’s almost all of their studio and live albums.  13 hours long.  All good.
RIP Rick Derringer.
ELP is definitely a desert album.

Ambrosia - Ambrosia.  Debut album helped by Alan Parsons genius.  Nice nice very nice.

Shirley Horn-The Main Ingredient(CD 1996) Prior to Diana Krall Ms. Horn had the best selling "pure" jazz female vocal recording of the 1990's. Sunday night vinyl is off to a majestic start.
