Seller ants my credit card info

Seems strange a guy was selling a pair of Raidho D2 fairly good deal. Now he wants my credit card info and he’s not a dealer. I should be concerned?

No. Do not give your CC. If you use PayPal, which I recommend, NEVER USE “Friends and Family “. If the “great deal seller” insists, walk away.
The "seller" subscribes to the PT Barnum school of thought... There is a sucker born every minute.
@kgbspy

Maybe the seller could physically process that card. But does his merchant agreement allow him to accept cards as payments for transactions that are not related to his business?
the seller might have a business and business license in order to process credit cards
kingbarbuda - I agree with you.
riaa_award - Good info, thanks.

BTW, I don't want your CC info because I don't want the FBI knocking on my door.

Yes you should you should never give a private party your information find a different method of payment there are many options.
As the knights said in their search for the holy grail “run away run away”!
If the seller has years of 100% feedback on A'gon and has a legitimate business business through which they can run your credit card, I think it is fine to use your card as your credit card company will back you strongly if there is any problems.
Paypal is NOWHERE near as good (for me anyway) compared to my Credit Card Company (Amazon Card). If I have a problem my CC Company automatically Credits my account....Paypal does not but "Investigates" and sometimes DOESNT protect you in the final outcome. My CC has never ruled against me in any instance AND in a few cases where the Seller Didnt respond to the Credit Card Companies Inquiry I not only got my money back in full (Immediately) but was also allowed to keep what I purchased. These include a pair of Harbeth SHL5+ Speakers, Wilsenton R8 Integrated Amp and some $1500 Sansui Amp. I have used Paypal since 2000 and probably have at least 60,000 - 70,000 transactions with them in that time period. If I use my Credit Card THRU the Paypal system and something goes wrong with the purchase I will NEVER file a claim with PAYPAL...Just call up your CC Company and they override anything Paypal can do. This is MY experience
Might as well give out your social security and birthdate while you are at it!

Seriously, why would you ever consider doing business with someone asking something like this--even if it were a GREAT deal?
First time ever 20+ members have all agreed on something.

Rather suggests OP asked a silly question.
This happens a lot, and not just to abuse the credit card info given directly. They collect lots of card details that way and sell the list to those that have the means to exploit them.
Might be Dewey, Cheatum, and Howe, but that seller will leave OP Holden Tudics.

Credit card Info one cannot give to anyone not even banker OR even your own mother.

seller got a Dodo and you fell for it, any body would have smelled rat.
If he was Maggie owner I give to him but Raidho guy never be trusted. But he selling so maybe he reformed bad guy.
Absolutely, positively DO NOT GIVE YOUR CARD INFORMATION TO THAT SELLER IF THAT SELLER IS NOT A DEALER.

Think it through....  What is that seller going to do with that card info since he isn't a dealer?  He has no way to process the card or get paid for the transaction.  What to stop that individual, or group, or criminal organization go on a shopping spree at an online jewelry store for things they can easily fence.  They just camp out in front of your home and pick up the orders.  You won't know until you get your credit card bill.

(Disclosure: I worked for one of the two major credit card organizations for over 20 years, mostly in the security and risk division.)

Not only do you never give anyone but a *verified* dealer your credit card number. You should only use PayPal and pay from a credit card which you feel will back you up in case you need to dispute the charge. To me, Amex is the best hands down. It depends on how good your intuition is and if it is going off. For me, if not so much I may use VISA within PayPal. If I am a smidge concerned. But not enough to cancel the deal, then I use Amex within PayPal.
PayPal might protect you but I would do some research first.  I would also call my credit card company and ask them about the same.  As a consumer you have 60 days to dispute a charge on your credit card so you also may be protected that way also.
Well while your at it, would you PM me the information too. Include your SS number, DOB, Mother maiden name, place of birth.

I promise to keep it safe. Really.

Thank you for the opportunity to sucker punch your dance card. The 360K worth of TAX free money that will earn 2.2 million in compound interest (tax free) in the 30 year period.. Just a bonus...

AND while reading my offer is NOT a commitment it is a binder in that it will cost 15,000.00 usd to release the binder. Just standard STUFF.

would you just give anyone your credit card number ? if he is not a dealer that would raise a lot of flags......
Yes, be concerned. Make payment via PayPal. Do not give a private party seller your credit card info!
