" Seems strange a guy was selling a pair of Raidho D2 fairly good deal. Now he wants my credit card info and he’s not a dealer. I should be concerned?"
would you just give anyone your credit card number ? if he is not a dealer that would raise a lot of flags......
Well while your at it, would you PM me the information too. Include your SS number, DOB, Mother maiden name, place of birth.
I promise to keep it safe. Really.
I'll keep it safe for the simple fee of 12k a year 30 year contract. YOU pay the income tax liability, state and fed. Need to make that clear..
I'll sent the electronic copy, you only need open it to comply and enforce the terms of the contract..
Thank you for the opportunity to sucker punch your dance card. The 360K worth of TAX free money that will earn 2.2 million in compound interest (tax free) in the 30 year period.. Just a bonus...
AND while reading my offer is NOT a commitment it is a binder in that it will cost 15,000.00 usd to release the binder. Just standard STUFF.
PayPal might protect you but I would do some research first. I would also call my credit card company and ask them about the same. As a consumer you have 60 days to dispute a charge on your credit card so you also may be protected that way also.
Not only do you never give anyone but a *verified* dealer your credit card number. You should only use PayPal and pay from a credit card which you feel will back you up in case you need to dispute the charge. To me, Amex is the best hands down. It depends on how good your intuition is and if it is going off. For me, if not so much I may use VISA within PayPal. If I am a smidge concerned. But not enough to cancel the deal, then I use Amex within PayPal.
Absolutely, positively DO NOT GIVE YOUR CARD INFORMATION TO THAT SELLER IF THAT SELLER IS NOT A DEALER.
Think it through.... What is that seller going to do with that card info since he isn't a dealer? He has no way to process the card or get paid for the transaction. What to stop that individual, or group, or criminal organization go on a shopping spree at an online jewelry store for things they can easily fence. They just camp out in front of your home and pick up the orders. You won't know until you get your credit card bill.
(Disclosure: I worked for one of the two major credit card organizations for over 20 years, mostly in the security and risk division.)
This happens a lot, and not just to abuse the credit card info given directly. They collect lots of card details that way and sell the list to those that have the means to exploit them.
Paypal is NOWHERE near as good (for me anyway) compared to my Credit Card Company (Amazon Card). If I have a problem my CC Company automatically Credits my account....Paypal does not but "Investigates" and sometimes DOESNT protect you in the final outcome. My CC has never ruled against me in any instance AND in a few cases where the Seller Didnt respond to the Credit Card Companies Inquiry I not only got my money back in full (Immediately) but was also allowed to keep what I purchased. These include a pair of Harbeth SHL5+ Speakers, Wilsenton R8 Integrated Amp and some $1500 Sansui Amp. I have used Paypal since 2000 and probably have at least 60,000 - 70,000 transactions with them in that time period. If I use my Credit Card THRU the Paypal system and something goes wrong with the purchase I will NEVER file a claim with PAYPAL...Just call up your CC Company and they override anything Paypal can do. This is MY experience
If the seller has years of 100% feedback on A'gon and has a legitimate business business through which they can run your credit card, I think it is fine to use your card as your credit card company will back you strongly if there is any problems.
Maybe the seller could physically process that card. But does his merchant agreement allow him to accept cards as payments for transactions that are not related to his business?
You must have a verified phone number and physical address in order to post in the Audiogon Forums. Please return to Audiogon.com and complete this step. If you have any questions please contact Support.
