The rat’s nest of cabling. Large transformers in components.   My discovery.
I have always custom made all of my own cables for an installation that is neat as a pin and optimized to minimize EMI.
REL speakon connection to amp vs speakers
@pbomberg  Funny you should ask.  I spent some time last weekend making some custom cables for a pair of REL subs I just bought.  The subs are to the outside and just a bit behind my speakers, so it made sense to make a short cable to hook up to ...
Happy Thanksgiving to All!
Happy Thanksgiving to you yogiboy!
Seeking speakers under $3K for 10x12 ft room and driven by 20wpc tube amp
Another thumbs up for Omega monitors.  I have the Super7 Mk II's and am getting great results with a 4wpc SET amp.  They are in a much larger room than yours and I am shocked at what spl I can achieve with this system.  I just added a pair of REL ...
More potential bad news for some big names...
grislybutter 2,991 posts 11-21-2024 at 02:39pm  @nonoise Yes Andrew Robinson is a fraud. Honestly I don't know why anyone would review contemporary Marantz gear in the audiophile category. It's cheap mass produced, mass market stuff   Let's s...
Faint buzz in speakers
Or, that self respecting audiophile could simply make sure all lights with dimmers are turned off while listening.
Audible Illusions Modulus 3A troubles
Agree. If you otherwise are pleased with the condition of the unit, spend some money on a set of tubes instead of return shipping. You probably would have ended up buying tubes in short order anyway.
Physical degradation of CD's
Update. I played this CD on a second system with the same result. This background noise could be best described as what you would hear with a really dirty old abused LP. The second CD of this box set played fine. Interesting.
Physical degradation of CD's
Never ever had an issue with my CD’s. That is, until right after this thread was posted! Last night played "Miss Saigon" and heard this low level crackle/static noise. At first thought it was my electronics. Thankfully other CD’s played fine. FW...
Preamp for my CODA 5.5 amp
My question was actually for the OP in an effort to question his process.  He bought an amp and now is wondering what speakers and pre will be a great match. IMO you want to start with your speakers and match the amp accordingly.  The amp he has ...
Preamp for my CODA 5.5 amp
And why would you look at the LTA preamp?
Stand Mount Speakers for Classic Rock that sound alive at lower volumes ?
Tekton monitors. Read the reviews.  IMO those Klipsch speakers would not come close to the neutrality and imaging of these speakers. https://tektondesign.com/product/full-range-speakers/monitors-loudspeakers/impact-monitor/#color
Speaker Suggestions for Next Move
The most important factor of all is not necessarily what speaker you chose--it's where you place it.  Suggest you use something close to the Cardas suggestion of placing speakers 1/3 of the room depth from the front wall, listening position at the...
Sound insulation advice for home theater room in middle of the house?
Agree with the above.  Solid heavy sealed MDF doors, double staggered studs, double sheet rock, all would go to waste with the removable partition.  That's a deal breaker.
Definitive Technology BP 30
Well, actually, in my mind they are only a good match if you like a really bright sound. Had a pair of BP10's years ago.  They did not last long in my system. How Sandy Gross voiced a soft dome tweeter to sound so irritatingly bright and edgy I w...
