Chesky Audio LC1 bookshelf speakers - a sonic bargain!
Interesting.  While this may be a great speaker, the finishes/colors offered will significantly limit sales.
I bought 4 subwoofers and I'm absolutely not doing a DBA! Hah!
@erik_squires   Fascinating project.  Many questions though. I assume your current speaker position lends itself to relatively flat uncorrected response--true? We want details! What drivers are in your monitors/subwoofers? Who is building thos...
Von Schweikert Outstanding customer support
I remember years ago when I owned a pair of VR-33's, I spoke to Albert a couple of  times on the phone about some questions I had.  He was a true gentleman, very cordial.  Glad that the other members of his team have followed in his footsteps.
Did I Expect too much?
It you opened up your speakers and checked out the crossovers, 97% of us would probably find electrolytic caps, sandcast resistors.  At best, you might find a generic polypropylene cap on the tweeter. It's called maximizing profit margin. You wa...
Repair for speaker cabinet
Maybe I missed this but I would suggest bondo or similar epoxy wood filler, followed by meticulous sanding, then wet sanding, then paint.  I would think an suto body repair shop could do all or part of this for you.  (you were planning on having t...
Western Electric 300B Tube Problems
Bad enough to hear about the WE tube issue. But even worse yet the cost to repair your amp---you can't be serious. Did they replace anything else?  If not, that is highway robbery.  Not sure who did the repair, but they need be avoided like the pl...
I'm curious. What is your "normal" listening volume?
pinwa, you hit exactly on what I have noted. Bought an meter off of amazon and was amazed at ambient noise levels very similar to what you noted.
Rel Carbon Special hook up question
As above. This was covered in a recent thread.
Sold Sold Sold
Ever try selling something of Facebook Marketplace?  For every one legit buyers there are 10 ghosts. That's business in 2025 on the internet.  Not the same as a handshake in 1960. The OP is a nutball for thinking the seller had any obligation to ...
Stereo Times review on the Tekton Design Encore Monitor
+1 vthokie83 Terry has been an asset to the audio community and I have also found his reviews to be spot on.
$3500 floor standing speakers used. What would be your choice ?
Well, indirectly I think I did when you mentioned what you were looking for.  But to be more direct, the Tekton line is noted for a very smooth, detailed midrange that draws you into the music.  Contrary to one comment, these speakers are not brig...
$3500 floor standing speakers used. What would be your choice ?
@inna   I agree that some of Eric's posts have not served him well.  He can be polarizing when pushed.  However, the couple of calls I made to him were very cordial and helpful.  It would be a shame to discount his speakers given that he has multi...
$3500 floor standing speakers used. What would be your choice ?
@inna Ah, brings back some fond memories. I had a pair of MG Rev60’s many years ago. A very nice speaker using classic Vifa drivers. Learned a lot about proper loudspeaker set up with that little floorstander. Highly suggest you check out Tekton....
Help trouble shooting sub hum
You really need to read your owners manual.  You have this hooked up incorrectly.  You can tap into the speaker terminal but you need to run that into the HI level input of your sub, not the low level via an RCA input.
PLUG AMPLIFIER INTO POWER CONDITIONER OR INTO WALL RECEPTACLE
Not sure on size fits all.  You will just need to try it.  But, I would guess that efficient Class D amps with less current draw might work well with a conditioner where large Class AB amp such as yours might be restricted?
