They look like modern mummy caskets (but I like the look). I don't see what's different or revolutionary about them otherwise

I’m saving my pennies for this system now...
@rick2000 I'm starting to think you are a paid audio equipment influencer, based upon your postings. How much does a gig like that pay? I agree they look like coffins... so not a fan of the shape, but the finish is excellent and they would probably be interesting to own as they have ample on board sound shaping tools. |
"I'm starting to think you are a paid audio equipment influencer, based upon your postings. How much does a gig like that pay?" pdreher- It's all in the title of the title of the post. Audio influencers get comped with fuses and magic crystals. $30K to get bass only into the 40hz? 40K in an untreated, living space sounds about right. Even $100K statement pieces can be disappointing in living/listening spaces. They look great and the S.O checked off -win.

If you understood how much revered audio gear was designed by the Fink group you wouldn't make such casual, unknowing remarks. Many award winning speakers from many countries are actually Fink designs. So don't you suspect their own speakers wouldn't be special? And if all you're concerned about is the final bass octave, you forget that the real magic is in the midrange and how well it's done. Besides it's usually better to get that lowest octave with separate subs anyway. The best position for the main speakers and for deep bass is almost never the same. And even for speakers that do go all the way down you'll almost always need subs to get that deep octave really good. |
30K euro = 33k $ + shipping/import/taxes.... I’d rather buy a car.....saw this again, S.O. did Not freak out *!* Grrls’ been around me too long, its’ rubbed off....*evil L* .....too thin-skinned for cycles, so... Thought the 'hatch hut camping' option could be fun...we're not that immobile...*L* |
I heard the Fink speakers last year at the Florida audio show. They were equal to my small 2 way floorstanding speakers that cost tens of thousands less. I didn’t hear anything that set them apart from a decent smaller 2 way speaker from say Totem or Revel or GR Research. As for stereophile stating these can be your end all speaker, what else is new? Everything these reviewers review are the best of the best. |
I find the claims in the above post to be ludicrous. I own the FinkTeam KIM two-way speakers, and have no doubt that they would blow away the "small 2 way floorstanding speakers that cost tens of thousands less" that he mentions. Setting aside that there are many reasons why listening to speakers at shows is a very dubious way to get a good handle on the sound that they produce, no serious listener would confuse the Borg with small two-way speakers. Among other things, the custom-made AMT tweeter is outstanding. I moved from Harbeth to the FinkTeam speakers, and not only gained speed and bass impact, but do not feel as though I am missing out on the reproduction of voices or acoustic instruments. |

@whipsaw, not writing it off as I was never interested in them. I have my end game speakers already. Who wants a pair of caskets in their living room? Why don’t you purchase them and let us know how good they are or aren’t? |
So this:
is not equivalent to writing them off? 😂 As for the aesthetics, this may come as a surprise to you, but not everyone’s views will necessary align with your preferences! Finally, there is no need for me to purchase them, as I have already mentioned that I own the two-way FinkTeam KIM, and they are the best speakers that I have owned in ~40 years in the game.

Whipsaw-I had speakers with the original AMT drivers back in the 70’s so don’t say I don’t know amt. I’ve also heard many speakers that have their own versions of the amt driver. I have a smaller floor standing speaker (from 1 of the best speaker lines out there) that compares equally well to the finks, and they are almost $30k cheaper. I also have a large pair of $20k speakers from 1 of the top rated companies that blow away the finks, blow them away. For example, the Revel salon2/Studio 2 speakers for $20k ish blow away these finks, I can name off dozens of other speakers that I have had or auditioned ranging from $4k to almost $30k that blow away the finks. |
Yeah, I'm sure that the AMT that you heard in the '70s were equivalent to the custom designed versions employed by Karl-Heinz Fink 50 years later. 🤣🤣 Then you – an anonymous internet poster – tell readers that you have, or have heard cheaper speakers that "blow away" the FinkTeam speakers, while at the same time admonishing them not to take published reviews seriously. How, exactly, do you expect to be taken seriously when you make such ludicrous comments?

To illustrate the absurdity of making unsupported claims, while suggesting that published reviews by serious reviewers are by definition useless (or worse), interested readers should take a few minutes to read Martin Colloms' review of the FinkTeam KIM speakers through the link below (it's a pdf file that can be read online). Colloms was a speaker designer, and he covers many detailed bases in this review, including measurements. Of course readers are also free to follow the impressively supported advice of @p05129 , if they prefer. 😂
