I am having major issues with my 3-4 year old Node 2i. It was operating very well until about a month ago when I started getting a message "Remote Service Error, Internet Server Error". I then decided to update the software to the latest version and it has become MUCH worse. I control the streamer with either an Ipad Pro or Iphone 12 pro. I have unplugged my router, deleted the app etc, but nothing improves. It is essentially unworkable. As a temp solution, I am using Airplay 2 with Amazon Music HD and bypassing the BluOS app. Any suggestions are very welcome. I have sent a message to Bluesound but have not had a response yet. Thank you, Anthony
I installed the latest version, 4.4.19, with no issue. It actually fixed an issue I reported to Bluesound after the last upgrade. With Qobuz after the last version, going into genres and looking for music in those genres suddenly did not work. This upgrade fixes the issue as the release notes indicate. I haven’t noticed any other differences. |
I bought a Bluesound Node at Christmas from Crutchfield because it was on sale for the holiday season. Well, the first unit that arrived here wouldn't update or do much of anything except illuminate it's LED's. Called Crutchfield and the technical response was great. The CS rep sent me a new unit that he personally updated and everything has been bliss there after. I have updated it a few times since the holiday season without any problems. I know that there are better DAC's out there but the Node is the best bang for the buck ! |
But what problem were they trying to solve??? What was wrong with the old way when u didn't lose your queue? Assenine. In my experience, with pretty much with all software, they updated to solve problems often known only to them and create more for the user. I think k at first it's mostly about the user but then that becomes less so with every update (I'm talking to you Win11). |
I found a video explaining how the Bluesound cueue works. It showed how to build a "que list" and then choose any album in the library and play it. Go back to queue and now that album has been added. This is how BluOs has always worked until the latest updates. BUT this was an old instructional video using an early firmware version. |
Actually, a couple of days ago I realised that procedure would work. But it only took a second for me to screw up and click on an album in my Favorites. Queue status...gone. I do appreciate you sharing this workaround with the forum. |
@lowrider57 I found a workaround for the disappearing que problem. Let's say that you have 10 songs in your current que. If you search an album and just hit the album it will delete your que and replace it with the album you selected, The workaround: If you want to add an album and retain your que, hit the 3 dots (aka hamburger) next to the album and you get options. If you hit "add next", it will insert the album after what ever is playing and retain the que. If you hit "add last" it will add the album at the end of your que and retain everything above it. Hope this helps, cheers. |
I have been annoyed by that same problem you mention, also from the prior update. Typically, I wind up returning to the album, either in my "Favorites" or through a search, and that way return to the album. An adequate workaround, but it's annoying to have to do it. I haven't noticed any improvements these updates have made, has anyone? @jbuhl I think your software-engineer friend has a good point. As often as not, the updates I've made, whether on my Apple laptop or audio gear, don't seem to improve them for me as often as they create problems. |
I despise updates that don't allow you to roll back. I've sitting on an update for my Mytek Liberty 2 DAC for 2 YEARS. As for BluOS and all the other programs, I wish ONE of them would get it right! For example: the search function and the sort function are miserably excecuted. I've see complaints online since the earlies versions of BluOS and the have never done a goddam thing!! I think BluOS is the best of the breed (that I've used) and it still sucks. |
@lowrider57 I had the same problem last night. Listening to Lous’s Live in London on Amazon Music via Bluesound 2i. I have the album on my personal playlist but when I build a play que ( so I can skip certain songs, it will auto delete it as I’m loading the list at about the 4th or 5th song. Frustrating. Also if I have an album in my playlist, it never advances to the next track. |
I installed the upgrade. No problems, no change, good or bad, in SQ. Between the 4 software platforms I have to contend with, HEOS , BluOS, Sonos and Amazon, it seems competitive, but none of them I would rate above 'fair', except Sonos, which struggles to reach 'poor'. That mis really too bad because I rather like their hardware for secondary TVs, e.g. Bedrooms. Amazon excels at voice control, which is great when searching for some more obscure titles. HeOS is more or less proprietary to Marantz and Denon, where it works OK. For serious listeng though, I remain impressed with the whole BluSound platform. |
Let me clarify, in previous BluOs versions you could add songs or albums to the queue and build a playlist. If you started to play a new album or added it to the queue all songs remained until you deleted or modified them. Now, the queue is deleted when you select a random album. Only said album will appear in the queue. |
I have a friend who is a retired software engineer. He laments: "When an entity initially comes out with good software they keep working on it until it gets worse". I think the primary driver for his angst is his Tesla auto. I know that doesn't help but your smart to wait a bit and let the people on the edge do the user acceptance test phase. |
