A** Kicking, Rock and Roll!

The title of this post is more literal than you might think. I’ve gotten back into mixed martial arts, Pancak Silat and Muay Thai but mostly Silat. Of course there is background music with the purpose of motivating. Typically metal, the likes of Motorhead, the Beastie Boys, etc.. I believe we’re just recycling the same tracks and I’ve been hoping for a while, to enlighten our sparing sessions with something fresh. I need recommendations for mindless music that will make people get pissed off and wanna beat each other up.

Thanks!

Let's see, ROCK 'N ROLL.

Now, that would be Bill Haley, Jerry Lee, Chuck, Elvis, Buddy, Little Richard, Everly Brothers, Fats, Bo, Gene Vincent, etc.

I guess you could put some others in there, but if ROCK 'N ROLL is what you need, then you should be listening to the people who CREATED it, I would guess.

If all you want is derivative music, well, anyone will do, I suppose.  Might as well put on Grand Funk or Kiss, or...well, whatever.

Cheers!

Anthrax and Public Enemy x bring the noise.

Gwar concerts (or whatever you call it) are great, if you don’t mind getting covered in questionable materials.

Orange 9MM / Tragic

Machine Head / Burn My Eyes

I feel sorry for your sparring partners.

Infected Mushroom

Belphegor    Toten Ritual

Rage Against the Machine    Renegades

One more for you to consider. Five finger death Punch. Very fitting for workout and training.

I typically just lurk in the Audiogon forum, but thought it worth logging in to respond to this one. These and other artists often fuel my powerlifting workouts:

If you are looking for something classic rock and thus blues-influenced I'd spend some time with Clutch, The Sword, Red Fang, the Tight Bros of Way Back When, or even further afield, High on Fire.

Prefer something a bit more gutteral and raw? Then you may want to start looking into the various flavors of metal and/or hardcore. For PR attempts I personally favor groups like Behemoth (Blackened Death), Amon Amarth (Viking), Batushka (Melodic Black), Slania-era Eluviete (Celtic), and various hard/metal/deathcore bands such as Advent, Refused, and Leaders.

Hey man, what are you doing. What's the first rule about fight club !

I'm trying too curate a list of tracks. No question is a dumb question.

Norma Jean

METZ

Whores

Genghis Tron (Dream Weapon)

HORSKH (Wire)

KEN mode

Old Man Gloom (NO/Christmas)

Russian Circles

Young Widows (Easy Pain)

Thrice (select tracks)

Death From Above 1979 (You’re A Woman, I’m A Machine)

Torche

Floor

Melvins (select tracks)

Ministry (Psalm 69, Filth Pig, Dark Side..., Animositisomina)

Rage, Audioslave, NIN, Rob Zombie, M&M, Deftones all have good tracks for working out too

Vintage bands also welcome, as I was thinking about the Columbus, Ohio metal band 'The Godz' but they may be too chillin'.

Anybody know about a 1980’s band from LA called ’Third Door Down’? I’ve been trying to find info on them for some time.

If you have a taste for it, punk might be great, perhaps especially the classic LA scene. Something like Bad Religion ("F%$^ You" or "Sorrow") or the Circle Jerks (Group Sex) or X (Wild Gift). Lots of energy and aggression and hard beats.

If it were me it would be Texas Hillbilly Coalition. Most of their stuff would be good for that type of motivation.

Ministry . Jesus built my hotrod.

Works great for getting rhe sister In-law up at 4 am as well!

you will love anything by Rob Zombie - try ‘Dragula’ for starters, it’s on youtube

check out his movies too if into great schlock

@thecarpathian Yoko v Adele could bring new meaning to the term 'torture tracks'.

For sheer kick-ass rock and roll, how about this?

or

thecarpathian, I understand the urge to suggest Yoko Ono but we don't want people committing suicide.

mapman, I have heard AC/DC in class but I’m thinking that it was post Bon Scott. Part of what’s difficult here is to get an agreement between the four or five of us and of course, our Master Guru has the last word. Hopefully, I’ll find a way to inspire.

Rage Against The Machine - rage against the machine. It’s their 1992 studio debut album.

Megadeth - Countdown to Extinction and Youthanasia are a couple of my personal favs.

@thecarpathian does not take the cake and @dadork is a liar 😂

I do MMA based exercise twice a week.  A variety of music is used there.  Spotify has some good related playlists.  If just one artist, AC/DC would seem to be the gold mine.
