A** Kicking, Rock and Roll!

The title of this post is more literal than you might think. I’ve gotten back into mixed martial arts, Pancak Silat and Muay Thai but mostly Silat. Of course there is background music with the purpose of motivating. Typically metal, the likes of Motorhead, the Beastie Boys, etc.. I believe we’re just recycling the same tracks and I’ve been hoping for a while, to enlighten our sparing sessions with something fresh. I need recommendations for mindless music that will make people get pissed off and wanna beat each other up.

Thanks!

@larsman

Bought the Japanese edition while back. Newer stuff past 20 years is so far off from the Mike Kiske era, goddann did he have range for a metal singer!

I miss him, bought his first solo cd long time ago, was NOT what I expected.

Hmmmmmm? using music as a weapon? Hmmmmmmmm?

Careful! the CIA , MI6 , FBI might be reading!

@goofyfoot

I thought of throwing down some Bad Brains though was reluctant … not even sure why.

I Against I … me suppose ;-)

thecarpathian,  below the sewer pipes. Where Bad Brains came up from but the other bands that didn't get the same notoriety.

Seems like this thread just keeps going,

Anybody know anything about the DC underground scene?

Screaming Females

Big Sugar

Clutch

The Goddam Gallows

The Parlor Mob

The Sword

ah yes ... thee Gorillaz @asvjerry ... good one ;-)

No one has yet laughed at this. C’mon comrades!

I don’t know about punching people but anythiing by Kenny G makes me want to punch my speakers--to put them and me out of our joint misery

Alrighty then ... second half gents. Give thy OP more of what he has coming, A$$ kicking material.

Helmet - In The Meantime

Lots of stuff by the Velvets.

Roll on Lou, father of punk, and of thrashing beat that most 70s punk couldn't match.

Just to interrupt this frenzy of group names that lead into Klingon Opera...

( "LIVE!  Until You're DEAD!" )

...just my choice for a pleasant evenings' devolution....

This'll make do for 'intermission'....(...give it a minute, it grows on you...) ;)

There...that didn't hurt....*snicker*

4-Shadows Fall

3-Killswitch Engage

2-Early Nine Inch Nails

1-Slipknot’s first 2 albums

If I didn't think that some of the names of these bands were real,

I'd think that the names of some of these bands weren't real.

@tomxena  ‘s recommendation of Brighter Death Now gets a big thumbs up but might over the heads of 99% of this group.

I don't know about punching people but anythiing by Kenny G makes me want to punch my speakers--to put them and me out of our joint misery

@dabel ...so it's been 'Burning Down the House' for at least one episode of Another Miserable Day in Paradise....:(  ?

Every one gets a sh*t sandwich on occasion...hopefully with bread, but....

There's always this retort of sort:

...burn your subs out... ;)

Stones,Let it Bleed ......Led Zepplin 1st.......Santana 1st.oh ,sorry time for my cookie and warm milk ....

Slayer - Angel of Death

LL Cool J - Momma Said Knock You Out

UFO - Lights Out in London

Pantera - Walk

@asvjerry I about almost burnt down me home up there in Yankee Village, Algonquin Mich .… 😬 The roof the roof, the roof is on fire … we don’t need no water let the mutha fugga burn … more 😬

I never know where I’m going, I’ve only known where I’m from. Now bring that beat in!

Okie Dokie, one more that’s appropriate for the times of thee forum madness and in observance of ….

System of a Down - Toxicity

Edit: great post btw. Loved it 😂

Best ever for this……

Judas Priest - Painkiller

Soundtrack - Rocky IV

Slayer - Reign in blood

Dying Fetus

Gojira

Pantera

The Melvins

Sleep

The Rev. Horton Heat

F***ing Slayer

Clutch

Between The Buried and Me

Sepultura

+1 for Black Label Society. Cherry pick the heavy cuts.

Airbourne's Black Dog Barking is a banger.

What you want is a consistent driving amped-up atmosphere. Put it on and play it all the way through album. If it gives you the scrunched up nose like you smelled something bad, even better. So ...

Metal with training wheels (very accessible):

Dee Snider - For The Love Of Metal

Grim Reaper - Rock You To Hell

Primal Fear - Delivering The Black

A little bit heavier:

Testament - The Ritual  (A driving album from start to finish ... accessible to most ... mildest of this category)

Fight - A Small Deadly Space  (Rob Halford's band)

The next step up (vocals start to become harsh):

Testament - Demonic  (A little more brutal)

Born From Pain - Sands of Time (Even more brutal, but with consistent drive. This is the kind of stuff I listen to while weightlifting)

Hatebreed - Perseverance  (like Born From Pain, Hatebreed is of the hardcore genre, and hardcore is definitely made for fighting)

Feasting On Darkness - The Black Cloud  (instrumental ... if you just want the brutality w/o the extreme vocals)

Feasting On Darkness - Souls of Chaos  (instrumental)

D.A.M. - Human Wreckage

Benediction - Killing Music  (Appropriate name huh? ... now we're delving into mild "death" metal)

Crowbar - The Serpent Only Lies

Drop the hammer:

This is the point where the vocals might be a problem for the uninitiated and the music may just be too heavy, but if not, these are some really driving brutal albums ...

Dyscarnate - With All Their Might  (this album makes me want to lift a house)

The Destro - Harmony Of Discord

Cataract - With Triumph Comes Loss

Stampin' Ground - Carved From Empty Words

Imprisoned - Hard To Kill

Born Low - The Hunger Within (EP ... only 15 minutes)

Deicide - In The Minds Of Evil  (a little faster, but still driving)

I also second the Pantera recommendations, especially Vulgar. And also the Pantera clone Throwdown - Venom & Tears

One of your friends played guitar for Yoko Ono??!!! Lucky duck!

Fortunately not!

To all, thank you. I’ve been listening to those mentioned bands that are available on Tidal. I hadn’t realized that there were metal bands who layered orchestration behind guitars, bass and drums. Also, one of the bands mentioned, happened to be a group which a personal friend of mine played guitar for, so it was interesting to hear that. It will take a while for me to sort through every band mentioned but I will carry out that task to the best of my ability. We have some C and A class MMA fighters in our group and I’ll be happy to hand out compilation cd’s to them as inspiration.

@dabel ...."....I'm done."

*Tsk*  Some people....start a fire, toss some gas about...then split. *sheesh*

I guess it's some of the 'things' I've posted of late.....

"You 'drop weird stuff..."

(Well, you asked....🤷‍♂️)

Come back, little dabel.....Sheba did, eventually....;)

Anything by Wolf Eyes; guaranteed to scare the cat or clear out the house after a party. 'Stabbed In the Face', 'Dead In A Boat', and 'Black Vomit' are particular fave tunes! 🤣

You asked for it:

G. G. Allin & the Murder Junkies

”Hated in the Nation”
”Rock ‘n Roll Terrorist” and others.

If you and your crew make it to the end of these albums a lot of people will be mentally/physically damaged.
