Room setting: new amp or new speakers?
Don’t spend any money on new speakers, amps, etc until you can fix your placement problem. Once you you have the placement problem sorted then look at decent floorstanding speakers or standmount speakers plus a sub or two. The room, placement and...

There are a few DACs now that have HDMI ARC inputs that you could use with your TV.

Adding room treatments without measuring the room performance is not a great idea.

A Turntable History Question
One of my classmates at engineering school in the mid-80's had his turntable suspended from wall mounts with rubber bands.  Fully DIY but effective since the floors in the old student ghetto houses where a bit dodgy.

Physical degradation of CD's
None of my pre-recorded/store bought CDs have degraded unless scratched or otherwise damaged.  The CD-Rs that I burned have shown substantial degradation somewhere in the 50% range.  CD-Rs contain inks while pre-recorded CDs don't.

DAC connection to computer
Connect directly to the DAC by USB from the PC. Use Foobar2000 as the media player and use Foobar2000 Controller Pro on a phone as a remote to select tracks and play.

Physically Comfortable Headphones
The swing wing system on some of the ATH models like the one you mention are very comfortable. I have it on my ATH-W1000 and it is nice. For full size headphones, the best balance of comfort and performance for me was the Senn HD-800. I am assumin...
