When buying used speakers are cosmetics important to you?
Really depends on the damage.  Surface scratches that are difficult to see unless fairly close or a specific angle?  Ok. A ding or broken edge or similar on the back?  Probably ok.  Deep gouges in the finish? Probably not unless I can hide it or p...
New house, wife reveals she hates my Maggies- looking for stand mount speaker suggestions
Let us know how things turned out.
high end standmounts that do not punish poor recordings?
Hard to go wrong with either the Dynaudio Confidence 20 or the Kef Reference 1 Meta. They are both fantastic speakers that measure well and sound great.  I have loved all of the Confidence speakers that I have heard.  Their towers are simply amazi...
New house, wife reveals she hates my Maggies- looking for stand mount speaker suggestions
I know you said Stand Mount but with that budget, I would go with floor standards like the Mofi SourcePoint V10 Master Edition.  Floor standers take only  bit more space then stand mounts.
Suggested upgrade paths
I'd be looking at the Mofi 888 or maybe the Kef R7 Meta.
Your favorite obscure song
So many great songs by Darrell Scott.  Also love Transdermal Celebration by Ween

My New System
Well done. I'm sure it sounds great. Kef really up'd their game with the Meta versions.  Enjoy.
My impressions of the much Hyped LAIV Harmony DAC (I ordered one and Listened to it.)
Additive return fees plus a 17 page return requirements document that isn't available before purchasing seems excessive and shabby.. Thanks for taking the hit.
Thoughts and suggestions please
I only play purchased digital files stored locally. I update my back up hard drive monthly if I have added new music.
Your opinions on the Polk R700 speakers
I like what I heard when I saw them at a show and the measurements look good. The estimated in-room response makes them seem pretty easy to live with. I feel like adjusting them to play a bit off axis should tame excess treble should you experienc...
help needed for new headphone system
Ditch the HD650. They are ancient tech and dark mud sounding. Go to the nearest high end headphone shop and try as many as possible.  The new HD800 are nice. ZMF and HiFiman have great cans. Plus more since I quit for speakers.
CD's or Vinyl?
CDs. LPs are too short. Flip every 20 minutes? No thanks.
Battle of the affordables
I've heard most of those. The Kef R11 Meta are very good. The Polk R700 is surprisingly good for their price.    If you can find the discontinued Revel F208 on sale for around $2k, grab those.
