I've had nothing but the best experiences with TMR. They've always communicated well, nicely over-packaged components and proven to be consistently accurate in their assessment and description of used gear. Any company staffed by human beings can have something fall through the cracks, temporarily. That's what the telephone and email are for. Hate to see a good company get thrashed on social media for a week-long delay. The little acknowledgement of resolution, dozens of replies down the page does little to fix the bad impression caused by the original post. At least it brought out many positive testimonials attributed to TMR. |
I like TMR because they have great descriptions of the condition of their items, along with detailed pictures. I purchased an int. amp from them once, which went perfectly. |
As a person wanting to sell an amplifier to them, way not impressed. |
Although I have never purchased anything from TMR, I have had a couple of pleasant and responsive email exchanges. These guys seem to be very legitimate. They have a lot of great used gear for sale, at pretty attractive prices. Because they tend to sell on the value side of the equation I understand that some of their purchase or trade-in offers may seem a bit low to some. But you can't have it both ways: buying high and selling low isn't a successful business model.
If you are selling or trading gear to a dealer you only know 1 out of 4 things necessary for the dealer to make you an offer: the price you want for the gear. The other factors are what the gear is actually worth (to the dealer's target market) and how much the dealer needs or wants to make on the transaction. You may think you know your gear's worth but you probably don't. And the transaction profit and back end costs are completely unknown to you. At the end of the day your choices are to accept the offer, attempt to negotiate a better deal or just walk away.

I personally hate their pictures. While being in high quality and very detailed they never adjust the light temperature of their camera and everything looks "cold." Also, some of the prices are a tad too high in my opinion. Just my 2 cents. |
I had talked to them and they tend to hold to a price point due to tight profit margins. I guess this means that they give a decent offer for what they buy used. Just an opinion. |
Everyone - I can now report that this whole issue (which started this thread) has been resolved to my satisfaction. I rec’d the trade Rega TT last eve and now have it all hooked up. I fully realize that problems/hiccups can and do happen to everyone - and TMR’s issue was apparently an email system that errantly swept customer emails into the junk folder (explaining their lack of responses to me over the course of a week). TMR has indicated that the problem is now corrected.

I've dealt with TMR twice over the past year and they have been outstanding both times. Highly recommended! |
and TMR’s issue was apparently an email system that errantly swept customer emails into the junk folder (explaining their lack of responses to me over the course of a week). You don't really believe that a business that exists basically because of its online sales doesn't regularly check its junk folders, do you? I can be gullible but wouldn't believe that. |
I have been in this hobby for decades buying and selling on Audiogon since it was started. For the most part my experiences have been positive. However, the “market” has changed over the years and to be able to run a profitable business on line that depends largely on good customer service and positive feedback is no easy task. The fact that for the most part TMR has been successful speaks for itself. There will always been those unforeseen instances where a misunderstanding, often due to a failure to do one’s due diligence occurs, but that seems to be the exception here.

Happy TMR customer here too. I have sold quite a few items to them over the years. I live locally, and I visit their premises with my items. Pretty cool. I met Josh right at the beginning of his business, when he was operating out of his garage nearby my house. He has carefully grown a remarkable enterprise. Good luck to him.

I have bought a number of things from TMR and sold several items also. I recommend them very highly because they are fair, honest, and good with communication. I would not hesitate to deal with them again. This must be some sort of mix up and I am certain they will treat you well.

Glad to hear the OP was made good and is now satisfied. Good show TMR. |
Larsa39 After reading all of theses response how can you question that this company is legit? You spoke with a person on the phone, they have an expensive webpage. Now you might not have liked the service you received. But legitimacy does not appear to be your issue. Try taking to someone else ask for a manager.
Look forward to your response
