Are there receivers that go for $10K?  Is the OP discussing 2 channels only or does he have the SFs in multichannel or Atmos?  Suspect an answer won’t be forthcoming 

@deep_333 thanks for chiming in and providing confirmation. Seems like a good business move, and for what it's worth, my Monolith 5-Channel amp sounded better than the previous Sunfire Cinema Grand Architect Series - though I still love the design and weight of the Cinema Grand. 

I like the idea of separates as well. ATI reportedly builds the Monoprice Monolith amps. HSU has been suspected of being involved with the Monoprice Monolith’s subs.

I’ve been running a Marantz 7704 with a Monoprice Monolith 5-channel amp and I’ve found that separates provide better separation of effects, clarity at higher levels of volume, and greater dynamics. Both the pre and the amp have been rock solid for the past 7-8 years.

@toro3 Yes, Dr. Hsu did indeed design some of the earlier Monolith subs. ATI has a hand in the Monolith amps, but the latter is built/restricted to a price point (similar circuit design, parts quality commensurate with price). Monoprice has a history of pairing with the right technical SMEs to get them up to speed.

I think you are referring to an integrated amplifier? If it were me, I'd really look hard at:

(1) Hegel H400, which is an all in one solution: streamer, DAC, preamp, amp, 250WPC 8ohms and stable to 2ohms. Reviews have been great, and apparently worthy of the upgrade from the H390. New $7,000, used not available that I could find

(2) Hegel H600 Reference, same all in one unit, 300WPC 8ohms and stable to 2ohms. Same great reviews and definitely a step up from the H590. New $12,000, used $10,000

(3) Technics SU-R1000 R DAC, preaamp, and amplifier all in one, 150WPC 8ohms and 300WPC 4ohms

MAC 7200 is the only receiver I would buy.  In fact, in other parts of the world it is sold without a tuner and called MA7200.  It's the real deal if you want everything in one box.

No, never get a receiver..... The power amp sections should be separate, not in the same box for an audiophile experience, i.e., if you also plan to listen to music with it.

Get a Surround Preamp Processor such as the Marantz AV10 (there are no amplifiers built into it!!!).

Thereafter, get any number of power amplifiers for how many ever speakers you’ve got.

For example, here is a decent Multichannel Power Amplifier.

ATI 6600 signature series series, 300Watts @ 8 ohms, 450 Watts @ 4ohms all channels driven.... Since you can get these with any number of channels ranging from 2 to 7, you could probably get one 3 channel amplifier for the front stage and a second amp with however many channels you need for the remaining channels (surrounds, back surrounds, heights, etc).

Other cheaper multichannel power amplifier options could be the bigger Class AB Rotels, Parasound, Monoliths, etc.

You could also use any of the hifi 2 channel high end amplifiers you prefer for your surround rig, but, the latter approach could get quite expensive.

@erik_squires has stepped away from the forums for a while but he told went to Anthem, regretted it, and recommended the Marantz cinema 50 to me.  I am very happy with it.  But I have never heard the anthem.

I do not use my reciever for 2 channel sound.

I've always heard Anthem receivers have very good sound. The last time I looked (several years ago) they got dinged due to a poor user interface (difficult to play with). Don't know if this has been corrected.

If you really want a single-chassis solution, I'd take a really good integrated and outboard tuner and strap them together with some of those cool stainless steel zip ties from Harbor Freight.

for $10k I would buy a $3000 Marantz cinema 50 for HT and then I would buy a seperate 2 channel amp to drive my front speakers for 2 channel sound.  Run the pre-out from the cinema 50 to one input on the amp.  Run the input from your 2 channel system to the other input.

Receiver? Typically I would pair them with an integrated amp. Receivers are highly compromised in sound quality. You are talking audio only, correct?

Are you sure you want a receiver? If so, Marantz Cinema 30 or the JBL Synthesis SDR-38 or Lyngdorf MP-60.
