I'm a QoBuz user but didn't receive the email, what is Qobuz connect?
I was a Qobuz Beta Tester and a founding member of the Qobuz Club. Here is the link to the article. I apologize if it doesn't work. Not sure if I can post it? https://club.qobuz.com/c/qobuz-news/qobuz-club-exclusive-preview-of-qobuz-connect-in-beta-version |
@mofimadness The link worked using my Qobuz ID/pswd. Thanks. |
Now we wait for streamer support. Years ago when I had Spotify, Spotify Connect worked great. When I moved to Tidal I found that Tidal Connect to be pretty bad. It would glitch out at least once a week forcing me to remove and reinstall the app. After switching to Qobuz 2 yrs ago, I have been putting up with Bluesound's rather limited, embedded "Qobuz app".... Which leaves a lot to be desired. A well integrated Qobuz Connect would be most welcome! |
Not sure what you are referring to. I simply plugged in a Roon Nucleus+ appropriately and opened the Roon app. The app found it on my network and upon entering the password it was ready to operate. Plugged in an outboard 2 TB drive and Roon cataloged all of that music, much of that is DSD. My experience is everyone has a different experience. Glad you like the Manic Moose. Regards, barts

Most of the time, I run Roon on an SGC/ST with a BDP endpoint as well. Sometimes just for kicks I will switch back to Manic Moose to listen to Radio Paradise as the MM RP app, to my ears, has a little better sound stage. It would be interesting to hear your thoughts on the RP app vs ROON. What I was referring to was the Lumin requiring a hard reboot to become ROON ready. But it is possible that information is stale and it's easier to switch now. |
Have never listened to radio paradise. If my sound stage got any bigger it would be out of proportion. I started out with a BDA-3.14 (which is a BDA-3 with a raspberry Pi internally, hence the 3.14). The internal streamer kept on locking up. Talked to Bryston and fat story slim they replaced it with a BDA-3 (free. no shipping either way, no tax) amazing customer service. The thing I did like about MM (via a pc) was that it simply gave the URL to the 3.14 and then stepped out of the way. No music going thru a pc. The Nucleus+ is outputting a digital stream to the BDA. I can't say where it lands on the good, better, best scale. But it sounds fabulous through my system which includes a Ref6 and a bunch of Pass amps. Yesterday I received a Roon Nucleus Titan, not in the system yet. I bought it because I am going to "try" to use the built in room correction and wanted the additional processing power it affords. Weirdly, to me, it came with the Titan and a power cord and nothing else...zero, nada, nothing! I guess they expect everything should be done on-line. Regards, barts |
Unless I'm mistaken, Chromecast is limited to 24/96 resolution, whereas Qobuz goes up to 24/192, which matters to some people. Also, there are more expensive and sophisticated streamers on the market that many audiophiles prefer. To be able to use the Qobuz app with a hi-resolution UPnP/DLNA streamer/renderer/DAC would be a big plus for a lot of audiophiles--me included. ;-) |
@dogearedaudio glad you jumped in there; I don't even know what Chromecast actually is 😄 |
@dogearedaudio , thank you for tje clarification. My current streamer is the Cambridge Audio CXN V2, which has a native Qobuz App. What I have noticed is when I use Chromecast to stream to the Cambridge, anything over 24/96, it switches over to the StreamMagic app. |
Hey all, Looking into streamer upgrades and the concept of Qobuz Connect has me intrigued. The app experience is key (I think BS node is fine, and from what i can tell better than most others) but I'd prefer to stay in the native music source apps if possible. Any updates from anyone in the beta or any solid first hand idea of when this will actually be in production? Thanks! |
