Magico Owners - what are you using for amplification?
Thanks everyone for the feedback thus far.  @soix interesting feedback from Alon.  @hanki your note confirms my Luxman preference is a good one, but will look into Coda and class A perhaps more generally.  @knotscott I am the friend who hosts the ...
Luxman L-509X as a preamp
Thanks @erik_squires that was my guess but just wanted to confirm. It would feel weird just seeing them sit dormant. Also, my one very nit picky thing about this amp is it’s hard to see the volume level from your seat. The LED on the C900 would he...
Luxman L-509X as a preamp
Hey all, 509x owner here who was/is recently pondering separates.  Considered keeping this as the pre and while it seems wasteful, it might make sense.  If i'm not mistaken the Luxman C900 preamp doesn't include a phono pre which would be one bene...
Floorstanding speaker experiences/recommendations in the $12-25k range
Another vote for Magico, in particular if you are sub averse and trying to improve bass. A3’s are an absolute bargain used. Good luck OP.
Favorite Obscure Rock Song
Great thread overall, thanks @flyfish77  Here are two that have been front and center the past several months.  Will be interesting to see if someone can pick up the thread of how I discovered them.   That's OK, He'll be our Brother Someday - Bar...
Vinyl Repair?
Hey all,  Just a postscript on this.  For Christmas I bought a nice ProJect record cleaner and while cleaning some of my top choices I did finally try the toothpick trick on the Tusk record.  It wasn't a 100% fix but there was improvement as a re...
What to ask when buying used speakers?
I agree with many others, forgoing used is silly especially with the lead time issues some manufacturers are still faced with.  You simply have to feel out the seller and let your spidey sense be your guide.  I'm batting 1.000 with my 3 purchases,...
Speakers - Your "Safest" Choice
I recently asked a similar question.  The brands that kept coming to the top of the list were Joseph, Magico, Borresen, and I do think the Revel Ultima noted above fits here also.   https://forum.audiogon.com/discussions/what-speaker-could-safely...
Magico A3 replacement
@pfreix I listened to both X3 and A3 (admittedly different rooms/dealers) and much preferred the A3 that the OP has.  Clearly could have lived with X3 and been happy though.  They did make the cut, but the A3 jumped out at me.   @dpm2340 I think ...
Have you seen the new McIntosh poster for $195?
@emergingsoul I'll let you pick from one of two answers depending on your intent:   1) yes i personally walked into the Sequoia National Forest, picked the best tree I could find and felled it by hand.   or  2) That table has been in the family ...
Was 1971 the high point of popular music?
I was barely alive, didn't live through that era per se, but have come to believe the answer to this question is an unequivocal yes.  Watch the movie on apple or read the book "Never a Dull Moment: 1971 The Year That Rock Exploded" and you'll be h...
Have you seen the new McIntosh poster for $195?
Missed the part where the OP decided to be a douche and blow the supply and demand curve for real fans.
Have you seen the new McIntosh poster for $195?
Some people here obviously don’t appreciate or have a clue about concert art. Masthay is one of the best in the business and the McIntosh/Grateful Dead partnership goes back 50 years. Limited edtion of 250? They will sell for 2-3x that on Ebay in ...
Help me spend $100,000 on a new system
@skyscraper great post and fun to think about.  First of all you've built a great system (and not just saying that because of our shared good taste).  The law of diminishing returns is very real IMHO, and you'll have a tough time getting more than...
Have you found your "End-Game" speakers yet? I have. And it feels so good!!!
New to me Magicos. I’m sure I could be happy with several different speakers in their class. The fact that I just crack up laughing in the middle of a listening session as I realize just how deeply i'm listening tells me everything I need to know....
