Is it possible the tablet is connected to a different network? or frequency.
Pairing streamer
My Innous Pulsemini will not connect with my tablet that I use to control it. The tablet, and my phone, cannot find the device. Thought I'd ask here before going through Innous customer service to see if anyone has had this issue and knew of an easy resolution. I've rebooted from A-Z hoping that was the issue. Any recommendations?
Thanks
@davegolf2424 - their Web site does not mention any Bluetooth or WiFi. Unit appears to be wired network (Ethernet) or USB only. |
@davegolf2424 - What it the device model link? I am looking at https://innuos.com/pulse-mini/ |
@davegolf2424 - I can't find any information on Bluetooth in the device. IMO, control from the phone or a tablet means they are on the same network, not on BT. |
If your streamer is not connected to your internal network, nothing will work. Check your router connected devices to see if it’s on the LAN. I don’t know what the device will be called on the device list on the router but you should know what ip address your streamer is. If you have another computer, ping the ip address of the streamer. You should get bytes of data received at what speed if it is on the lan, or it will say ip address not found, then you know it’s not connected |
I had this issue also, fixed as per @kennymacc advise. |
I also have a Pulse Mini W/LPS. IT MUST BE HARDWIRED to your router. Be sure if you have multiple routers and multiple frequencies like I do, be on the correct one. Log into your router to see the Pulse Mini, and run setup. If it’s your “ End Point “ select that and the other appropriate settings. Once it’s setup as long as your phone or tablet is connected to the correct router , it should be a go. DO NOT HESITATE to contact Innuos support. When I acquired mine used they didn’t hesitate to be of help. At the time I tried to set mine up it would not recognize my Schiit Yiggy. I contacted Innuos and explained my problem and listed my model of DAC. The tech accessed Schiit’s website and confirmed their mode of operation. He said I could possibly have a usb card issue with the DAC as I had the original card. The card was actually compatible, but had started to fail unbeknownst to me. I subbed in my Bifrost DAC and sent my Yiggy off for a Gen 5 usb. That’s how far they went to help me with a USED product! They were extremely gracious and saved me hours of hair pulling. Cheers , Mike B. |
Looks like the IP address for the streamer and the router are not the same. I used an app and am able to ping the server. How to I get them linked? I've entered the IP addresses multiple times, but the tablet doesn't find the streamer. Sorry, I'm not well versed in connecting devices. Something changed without my knowledge. All had been well for several months. |
Each device in your network will have a different IP address, you are not trying to connect to the same address as your router. What can happen is that your streamer connects to your router correctly. But your tablet connects to your wifi via a different SSID on your wifi so let’s say your wifi SSID is DAVE and there is DAVE and DAVE_EXT (for an extender) or DAVE and DAVE5 for the different channels (2.4ghz and 5 ghz). |
@mikhailark oops missed the Wi-Fi reference. Innuos doesn’t support Wi-Fi, my issue was with the IP address as noted earlier. |
Ok, people don’t know how networks work. Frequencies, 2.4 or 5 ghz has no bearing on connectivity to a node. The number of routers you have doesn’t have any bearing on connectivity. I have 4 mesh network routers that use both wired and their 6e proprietary backhaul with no connection issues. I also have 5 switches connected to these mesh routers and in the wiring closet with no issues. If you don’t know networks, you shouldn’t offer advice, it’s going to confuse the OP. I mentioned in another thread on this that you have to setup the streamer with the correct network settings, which includes static ip or dhcp, and subnet mask. Can you ping the streamer? Can you look at the router device list to see if the streamer is attached to your LAN? Concentrate on getting the streamer connected hardwired to your network. Then go from a wired pc to your network and ping the streamer. If that doesn’t work, your streamer isn’t configured correctly. If the wired method works, then concentrate on your wireless connections. Your router will tell you if both your tablet and streamer are connected. This isn’t that tough to do. Im assuming you are using Roon and if so, didn’t you have Roon ARC turned on? If you didn’t you should. You can get rid of Sirius/XM in your cars but you will have to make changes to your router to use port forwarding. |
@rbstehno Hi , I obviously fall into the “ Don’t Know “ category, and I’m not being sarcastic. Would you please explain to me why I have two routers and two streamers, one WiFi and one hardwired to a different router. Why then, can I only access each with their corresponding router ? I do this by switching the Wi-Fi connection on my iPhone to the appropriate router. Thank you, Mike Bolger. |
Are you using the sense app only or have you tried to connect going through the Innuos website direct (no app)? I had to use the Innuos website direct for my pixelbook to connect the Zen Mk3 as advised by Innuos Tech Support. Then I bookmarked it, named and saved it, and click on that to connect, not the app. Other than that, and I am pretty sure you have gone thru all the basics, but try this sequence. 1) remove and replug the Ethernet cable at both ends assuring it is secure at both ends and consider trying another Ethernet cable if the first round of these 5 steps does not work. (2) shut down the mini and unplug it. (3) reboot both the modem and router. (4) reboot your device. (5) plug in the mini, turn it on. If using the website and going thru reboot process above doesn't work, suggest contacting Innuos. |
buellrider97 - your network has to have 1 main router that connects to your isp modem that sets up your wifi ssid (you only need 1), port forwarding, and other parameters and then your 2nd and more routers are setup as a wired or wireless bridge network. This is if you use a non-mesh network. In my older homes, I used to use up to 4 Linksys routers setup this way. When you do it correctly, each router is invisible to you or your device. You never connect to a specific router, you connect wireless to the ssid that all routers can respond to. Even when you are wired, the router routes your packets to the appropriate router or isp network depending on what you want to do.

@rbstehno Thank you for educating me. I’m not very computer literate and networking is above my skill set. I guess you can teach an old dog new tricks. Respectfully, Mike B. |
@buellrider97 - if you need a new lan setup, remember that your isp provider or the geek squad don’t know how to do internal lans, get a new mesh network. |
Reading this thread has reminded me that CDs are refreshingly easy-plug and play. I stopped tossing my CDs after burning them to my server when I realized that periodically servers, which are networking computers, go down for no apparent reason (it’s usually an update by someone that bricks it and then the companies finger point). You can pull what remaining hair we have left or wait a week or so until some company does a new update that fixes the problem that they deny they caused in the first place |
I’ve been using ripped music since 2005. Remember amarra, pure music, audirvana from the mid 2000’s. I sold my $3000 Classe cdp in 2007/2008 and never used a cdp since. I do have a sacd player that’s 20 years old and it doesn’t get used much for 15 years, maybe 5 or 6 times. Ripped and streaming is where it’s at |
Innuos customer support was unable to remedy the situation. When they logged onto my system, I was able to ping the unit, but the sense app would not find the unit. After troubleshooting, I can not longer ping the unit. It will have to be shipped back to them for diagnostics and repair. Has anyone sent a repair to Innuos? How long was this process for anyone that has? |
