Streamer, no DAC please? You may want to try inexpensive streamers available on Amazon first, see if you like it. Pick one with coax out. There are plenty. I did not like streamer experience, all these custom apps, small iPhone or iPad screens, $$$ for Roon. I just feed ...
Which is best, using balanced or non-balanced connection? Balanced rejects noise that why all professional audio gear is balanced. So doesn't matter on short cables, but anything longer than 6ft should be balanced ideally. I run 12 ft cables, all XLR.
Sirius XM for 80 year olds....... fool's errand? Spotify will do just fine and has MUCH higher quality. Airplay receiver connected to that small stereo with do. You can get one for like $50 at Amazon. This is what I have in my kitchen - active speakers that are connected to $50 Airplay receiver...
My Denafrips Aries 15th has too much mid -bass, anybody else?? Never heard of "dinner fripps", is it dinner with Robert Fripp? Sorry, kidding :-) Anyway. I generally feel that yes, Denafrips is NOT punchy or bright. It is R2R DAC that tend to sound more ’relaxed’ to my opinion. Perhaps you would prefer DAC b...
One box solution Actually I would recommend receiver with streaming, good headphone amp and pair of high end headphones. This way you can even listen at night and control system from an iPad or another tablet. Using tablet as a central device will also allow you t...
Is there any such thing as a bad sounding DAC these days? @knownothing - measures what exactly? Frequency response, noise and harmonics are only metrics of ONE frequency. My major was in signal processing and spectral analysis. For example, does anyone measure equipment using white or pink noise (better ...
Is there any such thing as a bad sounding DAC these days? The biggest issue is not the chip, it is analog part. Cheap DACS use cheap op amps and electrolytics as well as do not isolate digital and analog power supplies.
What are people using to upgrade from Channel D Pure Music to play from iTunes Tidal with max quality is better than CD. However, they only stream new, remastered editions. So you may be disappointed if you prefer older mastering. Ex Tony Iommy screwed up old Sabbath mixes pretty good.
What are people using to upgrade from Channel D Pure Music to play from iTunes Your Mac is fine. Don’t replace good machine with some low power ARM streamer. My Windows box streams just fine, Aurender is not any better so I end up not using it. And beside, why would I want to control some unit from phone when I have 34" scre...
Aurender SSD Upgrades Did it make background blacker?
MusicDirect,, Yes. Sits on my kitchen table, accidentally left open at Audioquest Ethernet and US cables page. My daughter, an engineer, asked - "Dad, who is buying these for $1500 a pop and why"?
How many of us are truly satisfied with their systems? I am fully satisfied with what I own
What is the science behind audiophile fuses? Hey, hey, but they can prevent NOISE from LEAKING into your GEAR! ;-) Dude, there are $1500 Ethernet cables that are apparently "reduce jitter"... Right in the new Music Direct catalog.
ifi LAN iSilencer @audphile1 - where did I say NP was against aftermarket? Don’t invent things. He said certified cables, supplied with the unit. Which is a regular good $50 cable. As is cable that came with $$$ Accuphase. If you don’t have engineering explanation...
ifi LAN iSilencer @zlone - they go to great lengths not necessarily for tech reasons but to be able to sell the product so audiophile community. I love reading Nelson Pass. One of the best engineers making great gear. He obviously does not try and alienate potenti... |
