What did a good 10 MHz clock do for your Gustard R26?
Whats wrong with Gustard C18. Or C16. Now, i found denafrips to be MUCH better gear.
Did anyone else disconnect thier equipment due to the geomagnetic storms?
Lets imagine they DO create “currents”. How strong they would be and do you think properly designed power supply would not be able to filter them out.
New expensive power cord for amp and no change in sound?
@squared80 this is not entirely true. First, often supplied power cables are poor quality. Cost cutting. Pass cables are pretty good actually, properly designed. Hospitals use medical grade connectors - so they care about better power connection, ...
New expensive power cord for amp and no change in sound?
@rodman99999 My ed is in applied math, signal processing and hobby is DYI audio. I don't specialize in avionics, it is just I tend to look up what is used in real advanced cases. Just to be sure there is no Barnum... I've seen "big box" fancy look...
New expensive power cord for amp and no change in sound?
@rodman99999 - this is exactly what I mean. There is little critical audio listening in the fighter plane, but i am sure quality cables are selected to deliver power in environment full of RF interference and when performance may literally mean li...
New expensive power cord for amp and no change in sound?
I own Pass phono stage, headphone amp. Used to own several power amps, starting from Aleph. I use fairly simple cables, properly shielded, soldered and have sufficient capability to deliver appropriate current without picking up additional RF inte...
New expensive power cord for amp and no change in sound?
Imagine power supply that works like this. You charge big battery from mains, disconnect it and then use to power your amp with clean DC, disconnected from mains. No noise from electrical lines. So ideal power supply should work exactly like this...
New expensive power cord for amp and no change in sound?
You said “Yes my amp is a stereo Pass 250.8 and the manufacturer said don’t bother” So, Nelson Pass then properly designed the amp and its power supply. I am not surprised you don’t hear any differences. Why not listen to one of the best engineers?
Back to the DAC
Denafrips makes awesome quality equipment at lower prices that “well known” brands. You can get their Terminator DAC for less tan $5K - R2R with 0.005% resistors, over-controlled clock, excellent measurements. They also offer DDC units that recloc...
If you have a nice system why do you really need room treatments?
When you are sitting in a “modern design” restaurant with bare concrete walls, no baffles or absorption panels and cant hear anyone at the table because if all the noise, is this your ears issue or…  There is a very good and not too complicated b...
What the Best Dac have you heard or owned. How could you tell it was that good.
Denafrips Terminator II. Upgraded from their Venus II. Also using Iris DDC for USB. I know it is good since it resolves details I haven't been able to distinguish before. Particularly in low regions. I can clear hear bass player taking several di...
Buying Used Speakers
I practically only buy used gear. There are not may high end stores where I live, their selection is narrow and they charge exorbitant prices. I never bought speakers used, but I did buy a number of headphones. It is very difficult to find a place...
Denafrips Terminator vs. Venus
I purchased Venus II and then upgraded to Terminator II (not plus). As the previous poster said, Terminator does resolve more details in bass region. I ran both with Iris DDC, with Terminator connected to Iris clock sync. My previous DAC was Aura...
Am I right for this forum?
Cost does not matter. What makes you happy matters. I always looked for gear that would make me listen to music more. Some gear sounded nice, but for some reason I ended turning it off after couple of hours. Eventually I built system I can be list...
