The good news is you shouldn’t have too much trouble finding out who did it. 

that is not a big deal, and it is a big deal. hopefully no audible problem, but they just lowered their standing with you and anyone you talk to, with such a preventable issue.

I would tell them, give them a chance to tighten up their staff.

It's a special limited "fingerprint" edition.  You're lucky to have it!

You got the last copy, on a Friday.The handler was ready to bolt out the door, after a long shift. They realized "oh crap! I forgot one." Your copy was then put in the sleeve.
At least you didn't have mustard stains from their sandwich.

I don’t think so @millercarbon. If you watch any videos from QRP you will see that they wear gloves handling their pressings. They of course sell other labels and they are not liable for how those labels mistreat their product.

Yes @bstatmeister, I have an Okki Nokki, but after a few hundred LPs of cleaning, and covering my ears, I decided to upgrade to an Audio Desk Systeme.

I actually think it is a big deal. We spend $50 of hard earned cash for a 180gr 45rpm LP, and it comes like that? I expect more. I am very choosy anymore of what LPs I purchase and where they come from.

I listen the first step lp of mofi i encountered no diference with it also i encountered hear mistracking with my turntable i understand i believed is the vinyl problem or defective with marvin gaye what’s going on album i compare to mofi 3 step and i can hear better than 1step lp,i don’t know have idea ????

Geez I thought that I cleaned that print off before I repackaged it.

In general MoFi pressing quality is slipping, most recent Dire Straits - Making Movies 45 rpm will go back, copy #2k
they should be better for $50

Just got S&G's 'Bridge Over Troubled Water', limited edition. Flawless. Played my mint, rarely played original pressing, and it was no contest at all - MoFi all the way.

Sorry you had a problem, but my experience was excellent.

I am with the OP here. If this was, in fact, brand new, than a fingerprint, imo, is not acceptable. It is worth mentioning in a thread.

Per an earlier suggestion, I contacted MoFi with my displeasure.  First they asked for my order information.  Now they want me to take a photo of it - like you can really get a good photo of a finger print on an LP.

Doubt a singular fingerprint will have caused serious damage to the vinyl, clean it with your Audio Desk Systeme, listen to it, enjoy and get on with life

When I read the one about the fly in the soup doing the backstroke, it reminded me of the one that Eddie Murphy told in the barbershop scene from the movie "Coming to America". Eddie says...."Waiter, come taste the soup. The waiter replies..."Is there something wrong? Eddie repeats..."Come over here and taste the soup".
The waiter then says...What's the matter, don't you like the soup?
Eddie says to the waiter one last time..."will you please just taste the soup"!
The waiter then looks down at the table and says..."Where's the spoon"?
Eddie goes..."Ah Ha". Of course nobody in the place laughs so Eddie finishes by saying..."Ah whata you know from funny ya bastards.

  But what I dislike the most is the word  “ Frickin “ . It’s for people that can’t live without the F - Bomb and think it’s an acceptable substitute. But at least it starts with an F , like fingerprint . 

Irritating  to say the least, but occasionally you will  find one. Even more annoying is finding a defect after the return window has closed. Called MoFi after I found a major flaw of Frank Sinatra- Nice and Easy LP and they basically said no can help. My bad for not looking at it sooner.

And you thoroughly cleaned the record before playing right? I have more than a hundred MoFi's and they are consistently of very high quality. Not perfect, but far better than 90% of their competitors. Your fingerprint excepted, I doubt it will hurt their stellar reputation much if at all...

Thanks all for the humor & comments, though the social commentary on my word choice was ickin' weird and off topic (there I didn't use an F - happy?).  I am now cleaning with my Audio Deck system and it is working great.  Just to recap the original post, the Dire Straits LP plays fine, I simply think it is poor quality control that it arrives with a finger print.  

   Sorry for being over critical. I appreciate the record care information in your thread . I returned to vinyl last month after 35 years away . So first I’m relatively ignorant, second I’m at a lower level with my gear than you are . I just picked up my first Mo-Fi record this week . It looked very nice , and I did clean it . I have some old vinyl that still sounds decent , but most of it is trashed as my daughter had access to it . So I’ll go back to reading vinyl threads and keep my posts more pertinent. Thanks Mike B.  Appreciate your reply.  Enjoy the vinyl.  I am now going through and listening to all my LPs that go back to my high school days. Starting at A and going through them all.  Then will start into the blues collection.  Should be finished sometime in 2024, but now that I am retired maybe I will make faster progress. Some of it is in great conditions, others not so much.  But, I really do enjoy these new high quality pressings that are coming out.  They simply sound outstanding.  Enjoy the analog music everyone.

imbought a new sealed Anthem album a while back, I opened it, and there was some white stuff absolutely jammed in the grooves, it’s still there, won’t come out, stuff happens, I would be so happy if it was only a fingerprint.  TDS much?

I just had the same thing happen. I ordered the "One Step" copy of Yes - Fragile. Disc 2 had a full thumbprint on one side and 4 full fingerprints on the other !! I have contacted MoFi and expressed my displeasure, and of yet have not had any response. Now to those who say a fingerprint is no big deal, well it is. When you consider that after shipping, taxes, border fees, etc, It cost me over 200 Canadian dollars (about 50 cents American after exchange) So for this kind of $$ I expect a more professional attitude in care/handling. I have an excellent RCM and as a matter of habit clean all LP's before play, but that's not the point is it. I should expect a manufacturer of a "high end product" to operate at a significantly higher standard.

@crazyeddy   My point exactly.  Thanks for reaffirming.  I expect more than what I got for the money.  And, I never have these issues with Quality Record Pressings.  Watch the video a  http://www.qualityrecordpressings.com/index.cfm?go=video  You'll see that they wear gloves when then inspect the LPs, and put them into the record sleeves.  This is what I expect when I spend $50 on an LP.

95% of the people who knew how to make great LP's are deceased as is the machinery to make them .

I never even got a fingerprint on any of the albums I never paid for from Columbia House in the 80's. lol
