Can you recommend Jazz for some one that doesn't like Jazz?
I would start with a music appreciation class. Learn how to listen to the musicians interacting with each other. Learn how they are listening to each other and then making incredible music with queues to each other. That is what makes jazz and oth...
Calling All Tube Gurus
Anybody know who makes McIntosh branded tubes?
Phono Stage advice for Mono listening
Get the McIntosh phono preamp.  MP100 is the more modestly priced solid state model, but the It does stereo and mono.  Look for a used MP1100.  It is wonderful.  Sell your other phono preamp and invest in the McIntosh.  You won’t be disappointed. ...
Qobuz and Tidal comparison
@bobbyloans  I have a Sonore streamer mainlined via ethernet.  But still get these “pauses” via Roon.  I think it is, meta data updates, as best I can tell.  I have lots and lots of tracks.  When Roon wants to update, it updates. Which is differe...
Qobuz and Tidal comparison
Do any of you Qobuz users ever have drop outs or meta data update pauses in its service?
Does anyone on AG truly care anymore about objectivity & sincerity of Magazine reviews?
I cannot present a strong argument against the premise of the OP. I quickly page through most of the reviews. But I do love the music reviews.
Greg Kihn
@woofman74  Very Cool!  Lots of those Parkwest shows were discounted tickets via WRXT.  Those were the days when concerts were affordable.  Loads of fun and memories.
Greg Kihn
I used to see Greg Kihn regularly in Chicago in the late 70's and early 80's.  He was a great rock n' roller.  Great band.  His live shows were awesome.  I have some live tapes around here somewhere.  His hits were no where near as satisfying as h...
Those rare albums that are great on first listen.
Every time I see Chad Kassam I tell him that they need to put out Spirit “Twelve dreams of Dr. Sardonicus’ on Analog Productions.  Their quality reissues would make this recording sound incredible. It’s amazing already but, wow, I would love to he...
For those familiar with Sonus Faber
Yes, Yes, Yes!! Budget matters, of course, but so does room size.  I’ve owned both Serafino and Amati’s.  When I jumped up to Amati’s the room blossomed with a much fuller soundstage.  Can’t go wrong with either but best to invest now and not be ...
Looking for advise and recommendations on a nice record cleaner.
With a MT-10, and assuming you also have a high value cartridge, you should not be playing vinyl that is not cleaned well.  Period. Utrasonic is the standard in my opinion. Several have been mentioned here.  I have used the Audio Desk Systeme for...
Napping while listening
Retired at 60 and love it.  Busy as ever.  How did I find the time before. Listening to every record I own and entering it into Discogs.  A multi year process.
Mcintosh customer support
I often think about firmware updates, but never get around to it.  Kinda figure, right or wrong, since the equipment is hooked up to the Ethernet that it would update itself.  A couple of times when I checked the status of my McIntosh gear it said...
Rigid outlets for Heavy cables
@erik_squires  OMG, I have been looking for ages to find something that brings the outlets forward from the box.  I have a bunch of add on outlets and poor do-it-yourself construction in this house that we recently purchased.  Often times the met...
WiFi Satellite Causing Phono Stage Interference
@erik_squires  Hey Eric, just an FYI for ya, and for me actually.  I purchased a iFi power cord.  I tried that cord where the Orbi is (has been).  Some minor change but didn’t remove the fluttering phono stage meter. Then I moved the Orbi away an...
