Giant ads on threads

Anyone else getting giant blue Prime ads that cover half the page on your phone? Very annoying and unnecessary..

slaw

I don't get Prime ads but I've been getting 'sticky' ads that show up at the bottom of my computer screen when I'm on here.

To many freaking ads by everyone...and if you don't want them you have to pay to have them stopped thats BS.

I just started getting the Prime ads a couple of days ago, right after my iPad updated to the latest software version.

Add Adblock Plus or UBlock Origin extension to your browser. I haven’t seen ads on any website or YouTube in years.

Big blue Amazon Prime ads are popping up on these threads! Is Audiogon making money from them?

Yep, banners that cross horizontally across the screen. I have a minimal amount of ad blockers on safari and far more on Chrome. It's interesting but some sites simply don't work well at all on Safari, irrespective of the ads. And other sites are so cluttered with ads, pop-ups and garbage, that I simply avoid them or paste the URL into the Chrome browser, where the heavy duty blockers mitigate them.

There's gotta be a better way to monetize without interfering with readability.

ADMIN

As you requested, I emailed you 3 giant ads. These ads make reading the Audiogon forums very difficult.

Please block these ads from appearing on your web site   Thank you

Admin: please remove giant blue Prime ads

they are more than annoying popping up multiple times on same discussion

hopefully Audiogon didn’t commit to a contract with Prime

we are not programmable sheep and many will leave this forum

We appreciate you letting us know about the ads.

Appears it may be a bug and we are looking into it.

Seems it is happening with Safari and tables/iPads.

If you continue to get them, send an email to support@audiogon.com  with what kind of browser you are using and device. Please include a screenshot of the ad.
Thanks for your help.

Am abandoning site until this ad goes away...simply cannot tolerate it popping up every 45 seconds.

I never had any pubs pop up here...

If i had i will go out...

I set my computer to erase any ads...

I did not have any anywhere ..

I use my phone only to call and i call merely no one ( i am retired in paradise)... my sons lives near my house ...(walking distance)  Then my brain is not yet fried by the phone microwaves..

Ah - I use a Chrome browser and I don't get any half-screen ads; some ads, just not ones like that.

I use Brave browser on iphone and pc and do not see ads. You can also change your DNS provider in your router or device to help block ads.

I do not use my phone to access Audiogon but I do use my iPad and desktop computer.  Neither gets any Amazon Prime ads,  I use an adblocker on both setups.

Yes!

That and the stupid cloudflare widget that wipes out many of my posts while waiting to authenticate my connection, again, are making this site really annoying.

Although I suppose some will appreciate my posts never seeing the light of day:)

Audiogon's insistence on home-brewing its own forum software is admirable.

I mean, they could use working, proven, reliable software like every other audio forum does, thereby offering users a delightful, seamless experience and the ability to, oh, drag-and-drop pictures that are not grotesquely deformed in the rare instances when they do actually post, but where would be the charm in that?

@devinplombier, Audiogon gives you a free forum to use weather you buy and sell here or not. If you do not like their software, there are many other audio forums that may be more to your liking.  Let us know how it goes.

One of my two anti-virus/anti-malware programs is the paid version of Malwarebytes (it saved my bacon many times). MWB has a superb ad-blocker which I use on Firefox, my primary browser. As a result, I haven't been served ads there in years. There's just one problem with this rosy picture: a number of websites are refusing to serve content unless I disable the blocker. This tactic is getting more robust and obstructive--they really mean business. I find in general that trying to set a permssion for certain websites to stream ads vs others just doesn't work. MWB has the functionality, but the website continue popping up the "Disable your ad-blocker" panels.

Not sure how to proceed, though in general I just avoid those websites on the believe that if they are that intrusive and pushy, I don't need whatever they have to gbegin with.
