FYI - QOBUZ SERVICES WILL BE TEMPORARILY UNAVAILABLE

Message I received from Qobuz is below:

“Dear user, We would like to inform you that a technical maintenance period will take place on March 13th at 6am Central European Time. Our servers will be unavailable for a period of 30 minutes, which will inhibit access to both the Qobuz website and apps”.

Note: Central European Time (CET) is 9 hours ahead of Pacific Standard Time (PST). When it is 10:00 PM on Sunday, March 10 in PST, it would be 7:00 AM on Monday, March 11, 2024, in CET.

I routinely have trouble with Quobuz "downloader" which is used to download albums to my computer. Initially it just didn't work very well and sometimes not at all. The second version they sent me worked well, but the 3rd version immediately affected my computer in such a way that I had to uninstall it. Whenever I buy some new music from them the downloader software will be installed again - fingers crossed.

It happened last night I was crashed in front of the system the quiet woke me. 🤣 So I toddled off to bed all good today.

Just looked in the spam folder and nope, it’s not there either.

Is it just me or does it seem strange they’d do this on a week day instead of let’s say 3am on Sunday night?

All,

If you did not receive an email from Qobuz regarding “ QOBUZ SERVICES WILL BE TEMPORARILY UNAVAILABLE”, please send an email to Qobuz and ask them to verify your email address and ask why you did not receive this email.

@mapman @curiousjim They sent me an email Monday. I don’t know why some did and others didn’t. Strange.

The Qobuz Team

Best to do these things in a manner that does not impact customers whenever possible, but if they are beefing up the performance and an outage is required then it should be worth it.

Note:  I am in Maryland USA, a Qobuz subscriber, and I do not see any email about this.

They had an outage recently.  Were they hacked?  Are they doing something to try to prevent this and thus the maintenance now?

I already know French.  The only other activity of interest on the list was to skin a panda.

Thats why having a server built in or external drive on your streamer comes in handy . You never know

I was caught off guard and unaware. Music stopped 'mid-stream".

I didn't know how long it would last, so I called it a night.

The time mentioned would have been a midnight..Central time.

I just got around to checking at 1:20 AM, and Qobuz is running just fine. Outage must have been short-lived.

I bet a higher end streamer would solve this problem.

😉

…I also bet I shouldn’t quit my day job.

30 minutes...learn French, practice calligraphy, wash the dog, wash yourself, read something, talk to somebody, meditate, skin a panda, learn another chord on your ukulele (you may want to learn 2...it's 30 minutes after all), clean your scuba gear, go outside (that can be risky in some places so maybe not), go further inside, or maybe practice a move as, clearly, we all need some swagger.

Yes I got that email too and pretty sure thats 1AM here on the east coast.

Worth loading your favorite tracks into the queue on your streamer if you don’t have another source and want to play music…assuming your streamer caches the playlist. Or use internet radio.

I will bet a nickel, that if you were already have music playing no harm, no foul. So plan accordingly
