Eversolo a6 and Lampizator

Does anyone know if a Lampizator dac will work with the Eversolo streamer?

52tiger

I have a Lampizator DAC so I googled the Eversolo, which I had never heard of.  I think they will work but they will not work well togehter so far as I can see. The Eversolo is a combination streamer/dac so it provides Analog out.  What you need is a simple streamer that will feed digital to your DAC and the lampizator will convert to analog.

The eversolo does have a digital out option, but it only has toslink and coaxial which are my least favorite options  You need a simple streamer.  In the price range of the eversolo look at the Innnuos mini.  Maybe preowned.

Which Lampizator do you have?  I just got mine (GG3).

Enjoy,

Jerry

To elaborate a bit… the Eversolo is a really inexpensive consumer grade streamer and DAC… the Lampizator is a high end audio DAC… completely inappropriate from two points of view… the Eversolo is an integrated box that does what the Lampizator DAC does and it is so absurdly out classed by the DAC. My streamer actually cost more than my DAC.

Assuming the rest of your system is appropriate to your DAC I would recommend doing some serious research on streamers. Have a look at Aurrender, or at a LUMIX, Grimm, or Linn.

I have a discontinued lite 7, I’ve never owned a streamer, currently use a IMac with Audirvana to stream tidal and my nas.

i was looking at something inexpensive because I have read and been told that a inexpensive streamer since its built for streaming would be significantly better than my Mac.

but I go back and forth the IMac sounds really good so I’m skeptical

The lite 7 isn't Lampi's latest and best but it is still a very fine DAC deserving of agood streamer.  That said, if a high end streamer isn't in the budget now, look for a streamer that isn't a DAC too.  Avoid the consumer stuff on Amazon.

The Eversolo has Coax, Optical and USB outputs.  Whether anybody else thinks it's up to their standards or not it will work just fine. There are of course other options but in that price range the Eversolo has the only comprehensive software package.

Eversolo has four digital outputs, two of them (USB and coaxial) will work with Lampizator without problem.

Beg to differ ever Lampi DAC I have owned has taken a crap on me. Done with Lampi.

What do they say “ anything built by man “.. perhaps my ownership is a flawless anomoly since 2017 ? but the true value of Audiogon are the wide and varied owner experience…

On the streamer front, the OP has a streamer albeit his Imac to compare to… judgement will be his…

Merry Christmas all…

I own an Eversolo A6 streamer usb output into my Lampizator Baltic 4 and it sounds great. Buy one on Amazon with 30 day return if not satisfied.

I just received and installed a Swiss Digital Fuse Box for the Baltic and took the sound level up quite a few notches. The A6 is very easy to set up and use with supplied phone app. Great value!

The Eversolo is better than you would think at it's price.   I have always been a harsh critic of budget Chinese gear, but I have first hand experience with the A6 and it is pretty damn good as a streamer only .  I set one up in my Dad's system , sounds pretty good connected to the DAC in his McIntosh MA 8950

At some point I want to bring my Aurender down and do a head to head comparison.    It sounds great via USB into the Mac's DA2 DAC card.   He bought it to try streaming and ended up loving it so I got him a subscription to Qoboz....

Your Lampi 7 deserves a dedicated streamer. It will take some getting used since no dedicated streamer offers Audirvana as UI. You have an option for Roon, Innuous Sense and Aurender Conductor app. Both Innuous and Aurender are going to offer much higher SQ over your MAC. Depending on your budget, pick a streamer and audition in your system.

@carlsbad2  Congratulations on GG3. I bet you’re in musical heaven with GG3, what is your current streamer?

@carlsbad2

Please post your impressions once you are ready. I am thinking of adding a tube component in my system next year.  Don’t know at what level, DAC, Pre or Amp..so many choices 😊

I own the Lampi Amber 3. It’s been a strong performer without encountering any problems as previously mentioned. Obviously, the Amber 3 now the 4 is Lamp’s base model. Lampizator highly recommends the use of the USB interconnect for a streamer. I’m currently using a Lumin U2 Mini with Qobuz. Personally, I haven’t heard any negative comments or technical issues regarding Lampizator.

I have to attest to the Eversolo A6, i do run it through a DAC and it seems to punch above it’s class,

Yes I run it as a stand alone streamer and I have been impressed.

I run through a modest system, processing through both an ARC DAC 2 and McIntosh C2700 with dac2.

 Not sure the rest of the system matters, but those that need to know;

Krell KSA

AGD AUDION MkIII Mono blocks

B&W 805 d4

B&W Matrix 802S3

Thats good to know, it will work. My concern was since the eversolo is android based. Did you have to download additional software or was it just plug in your usb cable and the lampi was recognized?

@52tiger

I’m not familiar with Eversolo but have heard some good feedback regarding it. The USB functionality is obviously better with the newer Lampizators but I’m wondering why you would purchase a streaming unit with a built in dac just to run it through another dac??….

I use a Lumin streaming transport (U2 Mini) with my Lampizator and they work well together. I don’t stream via USB as sample rate formats hardly surpass that of SPDIF (24/192) so I prefer to use the AES I/O ports.

Just seems wasteful to put the extra money into a device with an integrated dac if your outboard dac is better in the first place.

Agree with others, give your DAC the input signal it deserves. You can find a good condition Lumin U2 Mini or Innuous Zen Mini for well under $2,000, and those would pair well.

If I’m gonna do it, I want to get it right the first time.

so I’m thinking zen mark3.

without spending to much.

@52tiger I have an Innous Zenith Mk3.  Wonderful DAC.  I really felt no need to upgrade other than a strong desire to go explore Lampizator.

@lalitk I'm a tube amp guy and very dedicated to the tube sound.  My thoughts:  Go SET.  So DHT.  Of course that means you need very sensitive speakers.  I consider the high power push pull tube amps a compromise and often not much if any better than SS.  (remember I'm a tube amp buy so I believe tubes are better than ss, not looking to argue that, I respect the opinion of SS guys).

So adding the tube DAC is tubes on top of tubes and I wasn't sure how it would work.  I was first attracted to the Golden Atlantic, TRP because I've owned amps that used the same tubes and have a lot of tubes I could roll in.  But I graduated from those amps to DHTs like the 2A3 and 300B.  I decided to go with DHTs for the Lampizator and avoid buing one and then upgrading later to other, thus the Golden Gate 3.

So I put a pair of EML 300Bs in it when it got here and after just one hour the sound was bigger, more open and airy, and significant more punch.  I put in some less expensive PX25s and while still nice, a lot of the sounstage and punch went away.

Long discussion to finally get to the answer to your question, but I'd say if you are going to go with a tube DAC, think about the GG3 as the DHT based DAC that really adds a lot.

Jerry

I thought the zen series was a ripper and streamer not a dac?

I gotta look into it more now.

im happy with my dac

I must join the gang and say “Your Lampi deserves better.  Much better than theEversolo!” I’m saving up for a Aurender.

All the best.

@carlsbad2

Thanks for your feedback on GG3. I always wanted to own a Lampizator so it will be one of my favorites to consider once I narrow down my choices.

52tiger,

"If I’m gonna do it, I want to get it right the first time."

Better yet!

Aurender N10 or N150 might be worth looking at as well....I tested an N10 in my system (on loan from a friend), and was so good that I won't upgrade until I can afford something along the lines of an Aurender N200, N10, Zenith MkIII, or Lumin U2 class. That demo kind of killed my idea of a less expensive streamer transport

Oh yes, the computer is noisy.  Innuous, Lumin, aurilac, Aurender all are good choices for streamers.  Then, it is the software.  Everybody is getting better with software.  Power supply upgrade on a U2Mini is available and would kick it up a notch.  Whatever you do will sound better, the eversolo would sound good.  But I would make sure the switching power supply is a good one.
