Can't believe I let myself get sucked in again.

Good morning.
It has been over 10 years since I have actively participated in the forums.  Well I am back and bit hard.  I purchased 2 Bluesound Node2is and 1 Powernode2i on Saturday.  I have not done any critical listening in a very long time.  I am itching to get back into being an audiofool.  In a position to put a listening together again and I don't want to be patient but alas I must.  All in due time.  So feel free to welcome back this goner.

@artizen65 ...14+ years in our venture, and survives despite the stock market heart attack back when.  Covid has been a good time for us, due to (we suspect) parents needing to get their children out of the house (we design/build/install playgrounds, commercial and residential) and stop making them crazy.  This year looks good to us too....

Perseverance is not just the name of a Mars rover, Yes. *L* ;)

Audio items for me is an interest, not an addiction....discounting
my diy omni activities, which take a back seat to 'business as unusual' (our claim to infamy).

Hang tough, and be brilliant. 👍

I include What's Best Forum and Audio Circle among my forum sites.   I view SoundstageUltra, TheAudioBeat, PositiveFeedback, EnjoytheMusic and Analog Planet for news sites and reviews.
@jrosemd My wife started a business 5 years ago.  Last year was her first profitable year.  This year is off to a good start for her.  As for saving money. LOL!  Time will tell but persistence is the name of the game.
Think of all the money you saved in the last ten years by not pursuing this
"hobby".
Welcome back! You'll find everything is just as you remember it.Spending silly amounts of cash and getting very little for your investment when it comes time to sell.

The reason I don't have any problems is because I don't quit anything. You might as well come home because there is nothing out there for you or any of us audiophiles that can ultimately satisfy. Just be sensible about things and you will be fine. Welcome back!
Welcome back. You have the benefit of experience and you are starting correctly by admitting being sucked in.  This time , be careful , remember past errors , don’t chase SQ AND ENJOY THE MUSIC
Welcome to a world of madness. Beware of Kenjit, he is an audiophool prophet who knows. No matter what, he knows. He has even invented the worlds best speakers (I think) but sadly doesn't know how to make them and doesn't have a system to play them. You will soon learn. Otherwise, this is a great place to waste your life if you aren't doing any serious listening.
@larsman,
It's funny when I read people saying on other threads that analog is better than digital because analog is not compressed and digital is!

The base frequencies are compressed on vinyl other wise the grooves would be huge.

It's funny when I read people saying on other threads that analog is better than digital because analog is not compressed and digital is! I like 'em both - have a great digital headphone system and am currently shopping for a turntable upgrade. It's the music that counts! If you've got quality gear, you can get quality sound.
@artizen65

Getting abused as usual.

Yep. That's why I post here more often now. I actually left here  1st time because AA had a better sense of community at the time. That was 15-18 yrs ago. Now everyone on most every BB is  a self appointed critic of EVERYTHING they disagree with. I'd love to find an a'phile BB that has that sense of community, where people understand how to agree to disagree and don't take themselves so seriously all the time. I doubt it exists though. Too much turmoil everywhere now.
@artemus_5 I am in the AA chatroom right now after a long absence.  Getting abused as usual.
@jbhiller
Thank you,  we should know on the TriVista in a few weeks.  As for the technology I have also been retired for 10 years (Telecommunications Digital Switch Engineer) it is mind blowing how fast things are advancing now.  Also in need of speakers for a main rig (The A308 and TriVista will be the base of the system.  Budget today for speakers $0.00.  My mom is not using here B&W's and is going to loan them to me for the time being.

P.S.  My wife started a business 5 years ago.  Last year is the first year she made a profit.  I back her and this endeavor 100%.  The serious audio can wait a bit.  This year has started off well so we will see how the rest of the year goes.
Grab the day and make it great.

Welcome back. I've been here since 2000 but went over to the asylum for a long time.

Welcome back!  Give a shout out if any terms/technology escape you.  So much has happened, especially in the digital world, since you've been gone!

PS I'm a vinyl guy who admits digital has come of age!  It sounds, or can sound, super now.

PPS. The DACs in the blusound products are decent but not stellar.  They won't piss you off but they won't get you to Oz either--IMHO.  Wade back in a bit and get that Musical Fidelity back in biz.
bobauch,

"I've only been here a few months and have only been moderately abused."

Blame it on Coronavirus lull, but we will try to act upon your complaint and catch up.

Would you consider changing your name to bobouch then?

"...flip the album over every 25 minutes"
Lucky you, I slowly switched to mostly singles over time.

I am talking about records.
@akgwizz I have not. I am saving my pennies. I have a pair of AvantGarde in my sites. Maybe after I win the lotto.
Welcome back! Ten years is a lifetime in audiophile terms. We're still squabbling and trading barbs and accusations and occasional good advice.
@sgreg1  Vinyl is over rated as it is also a compressed format.  I vote for clocking DACs and the sky is the limit.
First, make sure all your components require pricey, old stock vintage tubes...
I have a MF TriVista DAC that takes Raytheon mill spec miniature tubes.  As for the rest of the gear SS.  Love the DAC.
Welcome back. I've only been here a few months and have only been moderately abused. We will be happy to send you down endless rabbitholes and help you unwisely spend your money.

Welcome back just joking hope you get a great system and have many years of enjoyment.Stay well!!
Welcome artizen.... This picture of yourself is way better than mine..... 😊
Thank you all for the warm welcome.  LOL!!

I have physical therapy at 10:00 so I will respond to all of you after it is over.

To this day is still bothers me with the riff from the analog only crowd. Yes albums have a sweet sound and tubes can bring a system to life. I have both and also still enjoy my Nakamichi cassette deck not only for music that does not exist anywhere else, and it does sound good. Streaming is a huge convenience to not have to get up and flip the album over every 25 minutes. Now my point I don’t care what you have how much you havespent or could spend at the end of the day is it not just to get away from all the bullshit going on in this backass world and enjoy the music any way you can!!! My kids listen to music through their iPhones. It drives me crazy but in the end they are enjoying the music and that is what matters.
Don't blame yourself, we all go through this.  With the virus and lousy weather here in Pa. , I just spent another $2500 on audio tweaks and another $6500 on two Stressless chairs.  It's only money. Enjoy.
Wait till you get sucked into analog...an endless money pit...however worth it.
Then there is bipolar vs mosfet... that’s always good. The Node is great to explore world music. I’m all over vinyl, but it really is limiting in the exploratory realm... I don’t buy vinyl on a whim. I do stream on a whim and then find stuff to buy on vinyl!
Pretty new here myself.  So you'll be shopping for speakers soon... have you met kenjit yet?
Well I can tell you that the Node 2i has a good streaming interface,  but would recommend using an external DAC with ESS9038 chipset using a high quality digital coax cable.

Welcome back,

The Node 2i  is a great value for streaming and I think you'll like it.
I have used one for a little over a year and the convenience factor has increased the ratio of streaming and decreased my CD and vinyl time.
When/if the upgrade bug bites, you can get a higher quality external DAC and get to enjoy all your favorites sounding just a little bit better.
When I  have time for serious, critical listening, the vinyl always gets spun. But much of the other time, streaming is great. It's all about enjoying one's music!
Welcome!

Your gear sounds familiar... I have, among other things, a:

A Bluesound Node 2i,
A Bluesound Powernode 2i

A Bluesound Mini 2i

And a happy wife!Who doesn't mind my cave gear, ranging from vintage Marantz and IMF to modern Parasound and KEF. It's all good...listen and enjoy!

There's something about addictions.....;)

The trick about falling off the wagon is to avoid the wheels....or the heels...*smirk*
Don't beat yourself up, love the system or systems you have. I have 4 Node 2i's, 1 power node 2i and 1 Vault 2i. 4 different amps and 4 different pairs of speakers. I spend days mixing it all up . Gotta have something to do on frigid days in the Rocky Mountains.
