Feedback on Costco & Amazon sound absorption panels from folks who have purchased them.
Insulation is light.  Simple butt joins on wood is sufficient and wood only need to be 1/2 to 5/8.  Get a cordless 16 or 18ga nail gun and glue.  Secure behind with cardboard. Simple.  Absorption isnt about mass.  Work with wife to staple a fabric...

@Simonmoon x2 thanks for the recommendations especially the descriptions.   Will check out some.  Familiar with IQ. Maybe not pure prog but I have been loving and impressed with Opeth's Pale Communion.  Amazing talent and sound.  Unlike earlier m...
Does other Audiogon members' opinion carry any weight for you ?
I'm learning who's who to some degree and therefore who's the real deal and who's just bloviating.  It takes time to see the patterns and contributions.   Overall I've learned alot and enjoy the threads.  Almost all...
OT: Espresso machines
Ok, now I'm dying for a God Shot from photomax's gear and Eriksquire's beans!  If I head down this path as much as audio my wife will definitely take notice.  Tea drinker.  I'll have to live vicariously for now.  But yeah,  grind is most important...

Now that we have Genesis fans here,  any good "newer" groups that fill that niche for you?  I'll throw out Riverside.   Start with their first 3 "trilogy" CDs.  Go from there.  Recommendations welcome!

So close to my heart, my discovery of good music, prog rock on general.  As mentioned, they are a different animal after Hacket AND Gabriel left.  For me it's hard but Lamb is hard to beat.  SEBTP is prob fave 2 sided.  And yes, Collins in Brand X...

I've now owned my Valhalla for about 9 months.  Love it.  My previous tube amp benefitted greatly from rolling  some v nice but not exotic tubes in 2 of the 3 pre positions.  Didn't see any discussion here about rolling specifically for the Valhal...
BEST SPEAKER THAT COMES TO LIFE AT LOW LISTENING LEVELS
+1 porchlight1.  You prob suffer frequency specific loss of hearing.  The Schiit options seem logical, efficient,  super inexpensive to try.  So why not.  Also, if you could increase your listening distance,  the speakers' non-linearity at low lev...
To Fritz, Quicksilver, and all the exceptional makers trying to get the word out
@mattw73 If you picked those speakers up on the last month or so you're lucky.  I was watching a pair and waited 1 day too long and they sold.  Having said that, I recall not long ago a guy could find several used sets to pick from (hifishark).  N...
SVS SUB BETTER WITH LOW PASS FILTER OFF
I'll be setting up a new system in a second location soon so keen on hearing about others' sub integration.  In regards to plugging ports in ported speakers as @erik_squires suggested, while this lowers the f3, doesn't it also lessen the effective...

Upgrade Denafrips Terminator 2
Cheaper alternative but outstanding sound is MHDT Orchid.  New around $1150 from LTA.  Used about $800.  R2R DAC.  Then, if he's still doing it, get Grannyring (AGon name) upgrades.  Used to run $500.  Huge uptick.  Reviewers put this at $2000 equ...

speakers and cables
Oh, I forgot to mention that it's electrically equivalent (per sub company chief product guy) to do the same wiring from the speaker terminals to the subs if that's logistically easier.  Less wire, less clutter in rack.
