Why not buy from The Tube Store also in Canada and they carry every kind of tube imaginable?

I guess these are more expensive? Living Voice, Takatsuki, Western Electric | 300B Valves | Definitive Audio |
I bought a usb cable from them, which was shipped to the US. The bad news-there was an error on their web site which misidentified the kind of usb cable. They shipped the wrong one and didn’t actually have the one I wanted . The good news-They were pretty good about acknowledging their mistake, sending a return label and refunding my money. Honest mistake which can happen anywhere. I would give them a positive rating. |
I’ve purchased 2 pair of Takatsuki 300Bs from Parts Connexion with absolutely no complaints. Quick service, great packing, friendly staff. But, I’m in the States so cannot comment on tax/tariff to the UK. Regarding the Takatsuki 300B, absolutely amazing tube. Slightly tighter bottom compared with Western Electrics, wonderful mids and sparkling highs, very comparable to the WE. Very thick glass envelope. I received a pair of new production Western Electric 300Bs with 2020 date codes from Rossville (Georgia) Works. I’m just beginning to “age” them and so far am quite impressed. And, if you are ever in Japan, Kyoto in particular, go visit Takatsuki. Appointments are made on their website. They are very friendly and proud of their operation. You can easily spend an afternoon in their listening room. |
Parts Connexion has really upped their game by offering more items than ever at decent prices. The one caveat I have with PC is they do not have a refund policy. You can only get something of equal value or another of the same item purchased. This was a hard learned lesson for me. I will only deal with sellers that have return/refund policies such as, Brent Jessee. Choose wisely. |
In the UK,
Living Voice, Takatsuki, Western Electric | 300B Valves | Definitive Audio International purchase and shipping can be a PITA. Doubly so since C-19 insanity. Parts Connexion are first class vendors. |
I bought a new Furutech E-TP80 power conditioner from them. I thought it was a special sale for $766.00 USD, but after I purchased it, I realized it was full retail. I like the Furutech and use it in my office system, I believe it arrived in 3-4 business days via UPS. It's my fault for not checking around on price before I bought it. Shame on me! |
Parts/Audio Connexion are real and honest places to purchase Hi Fi components. I have purchased many items (tubes, gauges, wire, TT for my son, IC's, capacitors etc..) there, both on-line and in person. The staff is knowledgeable, friendly and honest, The retail store is well laid out and very "laid back". If they sell what you need and it is at "the right price".... well... the rest is up to you. I know what I would do if I were you. |
@pauljenkins88, It looks like no one from the UK has responded directly to you with regards to experiences with buying from Parts Connexion in Canada. From what I read so far, I get flashbacks of when someone whispers (messenger game) something into someone else’s ear and passes the whispered message to 10 more people, and the last person ends up saying something totally irrelevant or way off the mark, LOL. Not to say that some advice may not be helpful, but no one actually from the UK who has the experience you seek has ponied up a response. I suggest you call Parts Connexion direct and ask them how shipping charges and VaT may be applied to your particular situation. I lived in Europe 25 years and had to rely on direct communication with companies in USA or Canada when I was not able to ascertain others experiences trying to obtain products from North America and transport to Europe. When things arrived in the public mail or UPS, FEDEX, etc., I almost got slammed with some form of import or duty tax. Good luck. |
