Borresen Loudspeakers
Had the opportunity to attend the launch event of the Borresen X1 loudspeakers last night in Chicago @nextlevelhifi with @jays_audio_lab. From their M6 at $550k per pair all the way down to the newly launched X1 speakers last night at $5500 your ears will smile. Amazing what a 4.5” driver can do. If you are in the market for any price range speaker about $5,000 and up you have to hear these. Imaging is 3 dimensional, larger than life soundstage and just absolutely stunning performance with a look that will fit any room. This manufacturer out of Denmark really gets it and I don’t care what price point you are looking at these speakers will out perform speakers double the price. If you are buying speakers up to $25k you have to hear their $11k option. The rep for Borresen is hitting all the shows/events over the next several months in the US. Oh, and by the way, I loved the X1 so much I bought the first pair that will ship to me in early March!

Let me start by stating I love your products and have enjoyed learning about your brand. Following are some insights that may help navigating through your website and your products more easily. Commentary is open, honest, feedback. Starting with your speakers when you click on Borresen your site states the following: "Borresen Acoustics offers two different speaker series: the 0-Series and the Z-Series." Based on my experience you have more than 2 series. There is also the X-Series which does not pop up anywhere on your site unless you specifically go to search and type in: X. When you do that then the X product pops up. I think there is also an M series but couldn't get that to pop up which could just be a glitch. Imagine, if I did not know about the X series, which I did not, until your dealer shared that with me. I would have just glossed through your site instead of making a purchase, which, thankfully your dealer did a great job. There exists a lack of detail, which, if addressed, would help conversion. When a consumer goes online to check out your products and below the Borresen it says "Have a look at some of our products below, and start exploring the Borresen world." Why can I only see the Z5, 01 Silver Supreme and 03? Why can't I check all of them out, not just those 3? There is an intuitiveness about the site that is lacking. Seems like there are lots of products flashing through the screen which again makes navigation difficult. Lastly, on this subject, when you scroll on the < and > arrows and get to the end it just stops. Why doesn't the scroll take you back to the first picture. Instead, you have to click your way back which as we all know less clicks is better satisfaction. As I stated above there may just be some glitches. Maybe it's just me and @triode12 who think that your site is difficult to navigate. Anyway, only trying to help you NOT looking to be impolite. Happy to further discuss as there are more tangible examples that, if addressed, would help grow your brand. Best of success in your journey! |
Dear Friend and Audiophile colleague, It is evident at this point this is a massive misunderstanding. When we replied to your first message where you called AGD into question, I have tried to be sure we were talking about the same thing, unsuccessfully, I guess. I did in my original reply, by adding a sort of joke (referring to the one person in our team that has created our agdproduction.com website) and asking for your "understanding" in case of a not "superlative" quality job in the creation of our website by this individual in charge of the task (a very very close member of my family). Because I wanted to be sure we were not caught in a twisted misunderstanding, I asked specifically to you and @triode12, if you were actually referring to AGD as "Audio Group Denmark " or to AGD as AGD Productions, Inc. (meaning us). Audio Group Denmark is a completely different company, they are the holding company, in Denmark, that controls various brands. We are AGD Productions, Inc. we are in California, and we are specialized in GaN base MOSFET ClassD amps and other things. Unfortunately, then @triode12 made full evidence he did not understand our reply, and very quickly, rudely and impolitely, stated we should have sent that person (a very very close member of my family) to a training, so he/she would have learnt how to make a better website. Because of the tone and content of that answer, we were compelled to reply again and making sure his style in expressing opinions was not appreciated. Bottom line, now all is clear, you are referring to the Audio Group Denmark's website. I suggest at this point to send your comments to their support team. Regards AGD Productions, Inc.

A rambunctious li'l guy, you are eh? Scolding guys on a public forum when you have wares to peddle/sell could affect your sales negatively. You should simmer down and focus more on pleasing everyone/kissing A whilst in the midst of peddling your wares to the Agon crowd, comprende? 😁 |
@aw-agd Both @woots and I assumed too that you were Audio Group Denmark's Audiogon forum alias. Your over reaction to what I wrote is a clear indication that you need to attend a course in customer service skills. Thankfully you have admitted your dumb mistake otherwise, I would have attributed your lack of customer service skills to the Audio Group Denmark - the owners of the Borresen speaker company - of whose speakers this thread is discussing. [face palm] |
@gandalf originally was told early March but I’m a realist when it comes to new production so I’m thinking sometime early April. I’m sure @nextlevelhifi wants to be demoing and shipping these at the Axpona event in Chicago in April. Did you order a pair as well? |
Congrats on the X1s gents! Loving my X2s. Originally wanted white X2s but they we're on back order until end of March and couldn't wait and got the piano black instead. Turns out actually now glad I got the black ones as these speakers just disappear. Look forward to hearing what you think about the X1s. Did you get the stands as well? |
@scslite I did not get the stands as they are going on a stand in my office. Unfortunately my office door gets in the way of using stands. |
woots: Like you I am a speaker whore! ;) I ordered a pair heard the X3’s almost bought a used pair from a guy in St. Louis they were white and they wouldn’t have worked in my room, WAF factor kicked in. Easier to hide and move around a monitor verses a floor-stander. ;) I got the stands as well, using a pair of Audio Physic Spark speakers, which I really like, I will let them burn in before I compare, as I will be keeping only 1 pair down the road. |
@gandalf I think mine arrive at the dealer this week or next. I'm like you, too far away so will need them shipped here. Let me know how it goes with your set up. |
I was biased with the x3. The first time I heard it ,for it had less then 200 hours on it and the way it’s designed with the deep cabinet you have to turn them up a bit to get the5 inch drivers moving counting the surround ,I went back 2 weeks later and they now sound much more balanced and played down to lower30s AhZ in room and less then18 inches from the front wall. The wave guide and tweeter far better then most any domes in breaking out everything in the recording and very. Deep wide soundstage .the X1 I heard and it’s a must getting the matching stands ,their other companies Ansuz has very good audio cables and pucks with different types of bearings That bring in the detail further but price goes up. Their AAvic I280 integrated amp class D on another level. Beating many more expensive class A-AB electronics , this $10k integrated has a dac card thsts very good ,but the integrated amp ,that I hears against topAccuphase 4000, Luxmans new $12k, McIntosh , Hegel600, Pass labs , and Boulder , the AAvic had more power and control very detailed and natural and much more blacker quiet background .it has a lot of technologies others Donot it uses well over 100 mini Tesla coils passive and active to further lower the noice floor .they make a i180 model for around$8k And much more $$ expensive models .the i -280 integrated is the sweet spot in the range Everything from. Them is Quality. They even have a 100wpc entry level with dac, streamer for around $6k ,respectable but not in the I180,280,580 league. Danish audio group is very good quality and worth hearing . |
That crazy punctuation makes your post almost impossible to read @audioman58 . |
I went with the X1 as I have several other Floor-Standers, I wanted a good monitor with good sound and the X1 fit that bill. Speakers just showed up today, will start the break in process.. Still torn on the Axxess Forte’ as the main difference between the Forte’ 1,2, and 3 are the amount of the Tesla Coils, and those if you look them up (Tesla Coils) are not that expensive but it’s good to see their electronics coming with trickledown tech as well. But lower noise floor usually was handled by Ansuz power to lower the noise floor never thought those would make a difference but it did.. |
@gandalf usually I would guess the mid model is the sweet spot. Look forward to hearing what you think after you've had some time with burn in. |
Of course my speakers arrived @nextlevelhifi yesterday and I am heading out on vacation today so I’ll have to wait a week. Would have been great to have let them play for a week while I was out of town. |
@woots see if Josh or Tyler will run them in for you while you’re gone. They do it all the time for customers. |
Good point @rsf507 !! |
scslite: So far right out of the box a tad bright, but I am breaking them in with a different Class D Amp. The Naim gear however sounds the best with them so far, and I will try the BAT VK80i on them as well once I get 100 hours on them, as they do improve over time. I need to go over what Lars told me to place them, more of a U configuration than a Triangle, is what I remember. I am comparing them to a pair of Audio Physic "Spark" which is a remarkable speaker as well. woots: Have fun on Vacation and listening to those when you get back. |
I just listened to the Borresen X2 Model (2.5 way towers) and on familiar program material they sounded really, really nice. Bass was clean, clear and well defined, midrange and treble were like an open window the sound was so clear. My only concern was the imaging which I will need to revisit before buying them. The center image seemed to shift away from the center at random times. Possibly not the best toe angle for the broadest sweet spot. Regardless these are seriously good sounding speakers and nothing to scoff at before hearing them. |
Great News!! @nextlevelhifi delivered my new Borresen X1's this week. I told everyone that I would a provide an update after I received them and got them set up. Speakers arrived individually boxed and are flawless. You can definitely tell there is a high level of quality control with the feel and finish. Each one weighs 28 pounds. Since I am using these on a credenza, I did not buy the stands, so was surprised they weighed that much and they are a bit bigger than I expected which is really nice. They are very easy to set up. One of the key sections in the user manual covers burn in time and they couldn't be more spot on. Out of the box and turning them on they have a bit of a sound like they are covered up......but that initial sound went away in hours. So far they have been running continuously for about 72 hours and what a difference that time has made. They have bloomed wonderfully and the bass/midrange/treble is so synergized. The speakers have a very distinct clarity and sound much bigger than their size. I listen to a lot of Jazz and the soundstage is better than expected for my office set up. The manual states that within 200 hours they will be about 80-85% broken in and fully there by 500 and if that is any indication of how they will break in I'm going to be more thrilled than I am now with purchasing these Borresen X1's. I will provide another update in a few weeks but if you are going Axpona this weekend be sure to check out @nextlevelhifi and demo these amazing speakers and get your order in. |
gandalf: Congrats! Mine also sounded bright and compressed at first but they will improve considerably upon settling in. At least my X2s in my room had to toe them in quite a bit to get imaging locked in. Spent a bit of time with positioning but nothing too difficult with them at all. Enjoy! avanti1960: Glad you like the X2s. Really enjoying them and I’m not even halfway through burning them in. One of the tracks I use for getting the center image is from a Nora Jones song called "Little Room". This song was recorded with her voice dead center. If you have your speakers where her voice is sharply down the middle you likely have them set up correctly. |

woots/scslite: I got about 200 on the X1 now, I wanted the X3 but easier to hide the X1 from my wife! The main reason is I don’t have room for floor standers as I too many right now, and I am happy with what I have. You can't go wrong with the guys at Next Level, they are great and know how to setup a room. I ended up getting mine from another dealer I know it Texas who helped me getting sooner than later, otherwise I would be waiting many months, and I am sure after Axpona, they will be even harder to get. |
I might venture out on Sunday and drive to Axpona with a friend, their room is always crowded because they know how to set it up correctly. The guys from Borresen and Next Level do a great job at this, so it doesn't surprise me the room is always full! Got well over 200 hours on speakers and they sounded great right out of the box, but even sound more 3D, and play much larger than they look. |
I attended Axpona yesterday (Friday) and the Next Level room featuring Audio Group Denmark components provided an exceptional listening experience; as a bonus, I had a nice chat with Michael Borresen, engineer of AGD’s brands, and the NA rep. The C1’s, perhaps benefitting from the complementary engineering of all components, fought well above their weight class (C1 SRP is $16k and the entire demo system cost about $35k per AGD). Have a listen if you are attending, I would appreciate other views. |

I attended the show Friday morning, and yes the C1's are an absolute pleasure to listen to. I made the jump to Aavik 2 years ago, and love my integrated and streamer. The Forte' series that was paired with X1, X2, X3 and C1's are a great combination. The next level team and the entire AGD team are very knowledgeable, and wonderful people, and in my opinion look at music delivery as a function of more than just one sense, they want you to be immersed in the experience. I have placed an order for the X3's days after my Axpona trip, they will replace my PMC 25.26 and be matched with my I-280 & S-280 components. I have a living room with 10ft ceilings to fill with sound, and I look forward to delivery. Looking forward to seeing Tyler and Josh again soon.

@audiocanada I am under the impression that the X series Borresen's are designed in Denmark, but are also made in China. |
at AXPONA i stopped into the borresen room on the main level and the gentleman was talking. popped in several minutes later and still talking. kind of like going to a movie and hearing a description of it instead of seeing it. the X1 room was good but i noticed a bit of image wander and shift. i wanted to hear the X2 in the hall but the room steward was rigid in his time table. the x3 room was overly loud and ear peircing. the room runner was not flexible about music and the sound was harsh. he was playing the role of rave DJ. these speakers seemed to deserve better representation. |
Currently Borresen is the flavor of the month/year etc. Listened to the X3 3 different times last year at Axpona 2023 with mixed but generally positive results. Have they made subtle changes? Was the Axpona 2023 X3 a prototype? Were the X1/X2 production models at Axpona 2024? I do believe the X3 is now $13k X2 $8.8k and the X1 $5.5k without stands. Have NOT heard the X1 or X2 but all 3 models appear to offer value but my point is the X3 at $13k is NOT the "end all be all" loudspeaker near its price point. |
You can hear them all in this video. They all are great. And my system for fun. Please enjoy. Alex/WTA |
Zeno3: Similar results at the show, good sound but once the rooms got overly crowded it was hard to tell, as people were talking etc.. My X1 tweeters have some edginess in the Tweeter realm but that was over come by using my BAT Tube Int. Amp which seems to make everything sound better. When I put that combo together it was like a ah ha moment very good pairing, even better than what they were using at the show. I have 3 monitors and I am selling off one or two pairs, need to make a decision on one of these.. Borresen X1, Audio Physic Sparks are so close in sound with a slight edge going to the Sparks. The real winner for me was the Triangle Duetto 40th Anniversary speaker, that sounded the best to my ears. Dynamics the win goes to X1... the Triangle and Tubes, match made in heaven.. |
primetime74: totally different speakers, X3 are very Dynamic and do really well on fast music and stereo separation is excellent on the Borresen’s lines. Sonus Faber is manufactured all in house now even the cabinets are made in Italy and are pieces of art. The X line and all of the Borresen is very good to excellent, and the same goes with SF, as I like them even more now since they have updated their drivers etc.. The SF line is softer more relax sounding but very detailed. This is a highly opinionated hobby and with these two sounding drastically different, I would demo and make your mind up on "what you like" because that is all that matters in this hobby, not what some one tells you what you should like. ;) I own the Serafino’s and X1’s they both excellent, and excel in different ways. |
@gandalf I was just wondering the opinions of anyone who has heard both. I like both styles of presentation. The natural, organic sound of Sonus faber is what made me purchase the Sonetto V's last year. While I absolutely love their sound in bitten by the upgrade bug. I've heard the Nova line, but haven't heard a Borressen, yet.
I'm sure listening to the Serafino is a truly amazing experience. |
I listened to the X1 with the Forte 1 in Dubai last weekend. Very good. For the size they are, they do surprise you. For the folks on this thread who have bought the X1- are you still enjoying them? Additionally, has one had an opportunity to listen to the L1s? Better still has anyone able to do a comparison with the X1? regards, Manu |
dxbwineguy I just received my x1 6 days ago with a stand. It’s almost mandatory to buy the stand. The speakers looks amazing so the stand. The musicality of the x1 will make you stay longer and listen. So far I listened to them daily 4 to 8 hrs. Yes I heard them with axxes they match well .i used plinius sa100 amp.Match made in heaven.Though Steve Huff said they are not hard to find amp mate.I agree. |
