Basis Audio - Exhorbitant servicing evaluation cost
The OP brings up an interesting point...is the Basis companies pricing structure for evaluating their turntables exorbitant?  To some, it would certainly seem so, maybe to others, not so. The price asked for a lot of the gear in high end audio se...
They should charge more for it…
@onhwy61 if the competitor believes that the WB is under priced, maybe they should be buying them all up...and re-selling them at a handsome profit! Somehow, i doubt that will be happening....;0)  I’m not saying the reviewer made up the statemen...

@onhwy61 The fact that the WB turntable is expensive, is NOT what is being discussed here. Instead, the point that the reviewer for the Absolute Sound mini review stated...that said turntable is in fact "under priced"! Leading to the question, do ...
They should charge more for it…
@dayglow  When a product is priced at such a level that it brings into focus a number of other items that are now available at the same price level, then it absolutely does invite comparison. So, while a turntable is not a super car, if it is pric...

In my OP, I am not implying that companies like WB should not devote time and resources ( even if they have to be somewhat publicly funded) to better and better products.  Instead, I am bemused by the fact that the author of the piece in the Abso...
What is your vinyl commitment?
@whart   Is spending time cleaning records a chore? Maybe. Although personally i get some amount of pleasure from the simple task of running the record through my cleaning protocol, US and vacuum, and then seeing the result. ( and hearing it too)....

Suggestions for a holographic preamp?
@larsman   I believe the Aric Mother Lode preamp does have a remote control. Volume control, but no mute.
Suggestions for a holographic preamp?
The CAT is a minimalist preamp, which is totally by design. Ken Stevens, ( Mr CAT) believes that things like a remote control are not what one wants IF one is interested solely in SQ. I agree with him.

With your budget, i would suggest looking for a used CAT preamp. The newer the better. This preamp will give you the virtues you are looking for.
Help with cartridge choice for Linn LP-12, Ittok turntable
@dwette   What I am trying to tell you is that the Lyra's with the new angle technology require a more precise set up than your run-of-the-mill cartridge to sound their best. Sure, you can set up the cartridge to a decent approximation, but you wi...
Help with cartridge choice for Linn LP-12, Ittok turntable
@dwette  the new angle technology of the current Lyra’s requires a very precise VTF, SRA and Azimuth alignment. I had my Kleos set up twice by two different dealers, the first got it very close, but the second time the tech was more precise and ha...
Help with cartridge choice for Linn LP-12, Ittok turntable
You have a system that probably tends to lean towards the warmer sound. As such, maybe consider a Lyra Delos, as it works quite well in your Ittok, plus it will off-set some of the warmth towards more neutrality. Set up with a Lyra cartridge is ve...
How competitive are you with your system?
@mihorn   Sorry, but I do not hear depth or really image precision on your videos. Probably caused by the playback through my desktop system.
