Linn LP12 turntable
@mylogic You seem to have misinterpreted my last post. I am saying pretty much the exact opposite to what you wrote! I am a big believer in the upgrades that Linn has come out with over the years. While I agree there is nothing wrong with owning ...
Linn LP12 turntable
One thing that I think should be mentioned is this: the LP12 today is a far different and superior table to the one that was brought out in the 70's.  Over the years, Linn has engineered a number of improvements to the table, that essentially ren...
What actually determines volume power? Is it watts?
My 48 watts/ch tube amp creates the same amount of volume as my 250watt/ch ss amp ( that doubles down to 400 watts/ch at 4 ohms). The reason has to do with the ability of the transformers and the amount of current delivery to my speakers. Not watt...

@yoyoyaya  I have heard a few Ittoks mounted on an Oracle. Not my favorite combo. Also heard a few mounted on Gyrodecs, but also not that impressive.   I replaced my Ekos 2 with the 'WTA' Black, it was a nice upgrade as the 'Black' utilizes VDH ...
Linn LP12 turntable
@signaforce   I was wondering how the dealer could justify $14K with upgrades?  I really question who these folk are kidding when they come out with statements like that, particularly since the claims are easily verified.  As an aside, you might...

@richardbrand   The Linn LP12 can work well with a Trampolin 2 base on a heavier stand. I use mine atop a Sound Anchor stand that is quite heavy. The stand does sit on spikes that sit on a concrete floor. I have 'AB'ed the table on a lightweight l...
Linn LP12 turntable
I believe that the LP12 is actually relatively immune to foot falls, particularly if one is using a Trampoline 2. If there are issues, a very lightweight stand, like a Sound Organization, or a Target stand..and if available, a cheap IKEA Lack,will...

When you buy a LP12, you need to remember that you are essentially buying a modular and upgradeable system. The fact that the table was originally built in 2000, or even earlier, would not concern me. The main upgrade path for LP12’s is as follows...
Top 10 Live Albums
I listened to the newly released MoFi Santana Lotus album tonight. It's a winner, with superb SQ and a very nice rendering of the 'live' space. As usual, the percussion section is mind blowing! That and the keyboards are the main stay of the band,...
Best Recording of Scheherazade
A friend played his ultra rare copy Reiner/Chicago on RCA Shaded Dog with 10s 10s stampings for me yesterday. This is the one to acquire if possible, an incredible sounding record with the best SQ of this piece I have ever heard! Amazing.
Stereophile review of the new Wilson Watt/Puppy
I don’t have a problem with reviewers who gush platitudes, but I do question how discriminating they are when a new product arrives in short order, one that replaces the old model, and they then magically hear the improvements of the new model. Wh...
Who positions their speakers straight ahead (zero tow in) and why.
This question has to do with your room size and your speaker design. In my very small room, I have experimented both ways, toed in and straight ahead. The toed in position works fine, but I notice that I do lose some imaging specificity. I also fi...
HumminGuru vs.Degritter
@bbenzaquen6343  I think you are mistaking the HG with a Kirmuss, which is a modified jewelry cleaner. The HG was designed solely as a LP cleaner. I also believe the best way to clean LPs is with both US and vacuum. The results I get with a vacu...
What preamp with both line stage and phono?
OP, consider the  CAT SL1 preamp with the built in phono stage. The latest versions are the best tube based preamps on the market, IMO.
Radikal Linn LP12 or Palmer 2.5?
@linnlp12  Indeed, the Linn din cable is a weak link. I don't use a Linn arm. ( This is just one of the reasons why). The arm i use has a Van Den Hul litz tonearm cable wired from the cartridge pins straight out to a junction box, there the cable ...
