Would like to get more bass out of my B&W 801 series 2 speakers I admit to having breezed through but skimmed most of the responses. My Odyssey Audio Kismet mono-blocks put new life into a pair of Raidho D2s, small floor-standers, than I thought possible with great response and fullness of body into the 30+ H...
What's the story with Borresen speakers ? Agreed! I don't plan to sell my D2s unless I hit the mega-lottery, as another step up would be pretty much a supreme effort in diminishing returns so far as I can tell. For my medium sized open room the D2s still float my boat after almost nine ...
SHIPPING speakers? My older ($17K used) Raidho D2s were shipped LTL on a pallet from Chicago and arrived in Colorado Springs in immaculate condition. I shipped out three pair of mint condition loudspeakers all together in their original cartons on a pallet and they ...
Are my " diamond " tweeters really diamond I sincerely doubt they are real natural diamonds. I was in the business of attaching diamonds to stainless steel wire via nickel and copper electroplating for the slicing of silicon wafers for the solar industry. Industrial man-made diamond dust p...
What's the story with Borresen speakers ? I don't know who is responsible for the B.S. present in all the older Raidho and now Borresen advertising but I am sure it is Lars, the man who spouts and spouts and busts your eardrums at any audio show, not mentioning his terrible taste in demo ...
Are Headphones Fit for Serious Music Listening? For me, headphone are for someone who cannot enjoy a full-range audio system at home, or doesn't have the cash, and that's okay, but only for them, not me. I cannot imagine, even as good as they can be, why one would prefer headphones unless they...
Are REL the most Musical Subs? I've have RELs, SVSs, and one old Def Tech sub, and since my RELs go way down past 50Hz to the bottom, I love running them set very low in Hz and run my Raidho D2s full range. The bottom fill-in is superb and never calls attention to itself. This ...
This Might Not Exist, Any reasonably priced, smaller speakers with 100db Sensitivity? Wow. If that's how you're going to choose an audiophile system, good luck to you. I have always considered loudspeakers the only starting point but if you are into buying somebody's super low-power amplifier as your starting point then you're prob...
The $27,900 disappointment? Wilson Audio Watt Puppy 8 issues. Personally when I was really listening to loudspeakers years ago I thought Wilson loudspeakers were astounding but eventually thought they were not what I wanted ultimately, but still very good. Others must feel they are wonderful based on sale; i...
Thinking about going electrostatic For the life of me I haven't figured out the urge to move so far away from where you were/are on speakers. It's like saying you're tired of a sedan and want to try a truck, in my mind; such a huge difference in sound. Not that one is better or wor...
What has been a favourite moment in Audio? Way back in early 1990 while living temporarily in Honolulu I went to a local retailer who played an old Sinatra tune via turntable into a pair of decent bookshelf speakers. It was amazing sound and I never forgot it. I'm sure it propelled the fo...
What were your favorite gear additions in 2024? Bought a used Odyssey Audio Kismet stereo amp for my Raidho D2s and liked it so much that I bought a pair of Kismet monoblocks for even better sound. No looking back; they are wonderful.
Borresen Loudspeakers Enjoy the X3s, guys. I did have the small Scansonic MB 2.5s in the white color and they worked better than I'd have thought. A gamble in white as they were a rare, 'new' purchase. The break-in period is long but truly worth it. Hang in there!
Borresen Loudspeakers Congrats to woots on your new purchase and I know you will enjoy them! Do be prepared for a long, long break-in but it is well worth it. Things just get better. It took 400 plus for my (now gone) Borressen-designed Scansonic MB-2.5 small floor-sta...
"Diminishing Returns" I love my system and cannot see changes now. I worked my way into older used (highly reduced) Raidho D2 small floor standers (with two R.E.L. subs) and for my room, I cannot imagine anything I'd be willing to spend more money for. I run digital (... |
