Borresen Loudspeakers
Enjoy the X3s, guys. I did have the small Scansonic MB 2.5s in the white color and they worked better than I'd have thought. A gamble in white as they were a rare, 'new' purchase.  The break-in period is long but truly worth it. Hang in there!
Borresen Loudspeakers
Congrats to woots on your new purchase and I know you will enjoy them! Do be prepared for a long, long break-in but it is well worth it. Things just get better. It took 400 plus for my (now gone) Borressen-designed Scansonic MB-2.5 small floor-sta...
"Diminishing Returns"
I love my system and cannot see changes now. I worked my way into older used (highly reduced) Raidho D2 small floor standers (with two R.E.L. subs) and for my room, I cannot imagine anything I'd be willing to spend more money for. I run digital (...
Have you found your "End-Game" speakers yet? I have. And it feels so good!!!
I would agree with the folks who are very happy, but if the 'money-fairy' dropped a load on them, they'd look again, and some merely higher in the brand they love. It seems like many missed the point.  "YOUR end-of-game loudspeakers".  Not the be...
Have you found your "End-Game" speakers yet? I have. And it feels so good!!!
I was phenomenally fortunate to acquire small Raidho D2 floorstanders used which replaced much larger Dynaudio Sapphires (and bested them every way except sheer output levels). They are a game changer and I cannot think I'll find anything so good ...
Sopra No 2's or other alternatives?
Save your ears; too much work to 'tame' the Focals; always seems to be as I've considered them bright as well, in general (not all).  Metal dome tweeters just are not as friendly to me; implementation can help (B&W 800s hurt too). Good luck. ...
Would you choose 1 ou 2 subwoofers for a stereo set?
Room ambience below 40Hz on some recordings, and it is nice to experience even with no bass in the track. Totally agree with two subs over one. If you can room correct the bass you'll be smiling when you are done. Agree with most all of the above...
Velodyne DD15 - worth repairing the plate amp?
Years ago I had a Velodyne servo F-1800 servo and for the time it was fine. 90s. I now have two older RELs (great, buy used) but also two SVS SB-2000 subs and one SB-3000 sub.  Look for sales; I think the SVS are very good and I'd probably take e...
Martin Logan on it's side for center channel ??
Okay. I do currently run my old 1996 Martin Logan SL3 electrostatic hybrid loudspeakers with cone woofers on their sides (woofers outside), and a ML Cinema center channel in between. They sound great with all three tilted up about 20 degrees or so...
Flat frequency response
I can hardly imagine all speakers sounding the same if equalized to flat.  It's how a speaker releases its notes that gives it its own distinctive sound, whether you enjoy it or not.  Room reflections and acoustics are, of course, important. But ...
Has anyone heard the TAD Evo One and the Raidho TD floorstanders? How do they compare?
Any T.A.D. speaker I have heard I have enjoyed, like Joseph Audio, Sonus, etc. Years ago I dialed in a pair of used D2's into my 21' wide x 17' deep by 8'-12' l-r, side sloped ceiling, room (with two large openings side and rear). They are not co...
What do you hear with a better/bigger power supply and output capacitors in same amp?
Thank you everyone for the wealth of info on this topic. I am learning a lot more than I had known prior to asking. This is not a DIY question although the responses should help those folks.  The nuts and bolts of this are: A:  one Kismet Stereo:...
What do you hear with a better/bigger power supply and output capacitors in same amp?
No throwing components in DIY; certainly not qualified to. I'm talking upgrading to the mfr's mono version of a good stereo amp. E.G. a 'Mark L' 200wpc stereo w/one large toroid and lots of capacitance.  Say you converted that to bridged mono (an...
Why do speakers improve with more powerful amps?
Same amp brand, same board engineering, the bigger amp with the larger power supply and power reserves is going to sound better. That power is always there, at low or high volume.   Push your left finger (speaker) with your right finger (50w amp)....
Why Do Cables Matter?
I have tried, but cables seem to be the least easily discernible items to listen for in an audio system. Speakers are easy, but if you want to truly hear cables (any chance in hell of hearing differences without knowing exactly which cable you you...
