Borresen Loudspeakers

Had the opportunity to attend the launch event of the Borresen X1 loudspeakers last night in Chicago @nextlevelhifi with @jays_audio_lab. From their M6 at $550k per pair all the way down to the newly launched X1 speakers last night at $5500 your ears will smile. Amazing what a 4.5” driver can do. If you are in the market for any price range speaker about $5,000 and up you have to hear these. Imaging is 3 dimensional, larger than life soundstage and just absolutely stunning performance with a look that will fit any room. This manufacturer out of Denmark really gets it and I don’t care what price point you are looking at these speakers will out perform speakers double the price.  If you are buying speakers up to $25k you have to hear their $11k option.  The rep for Borresen is hitting all the shows/events over the next several months in the US. Oh, and by the way, I loved the X1 so much I bought the first pair that will ship to me in early March!

@ronboco I was told that there are many patents held by Michael B. on his line of speakers. I feel confident that these were developed in house using super thin layers that go through a process that makes them as strong as a metal. For example, the “cage” that holds the driver is made from a 3D printer because the metal they use would destroy diamond tips based on this unique design. Each driver is done through this process. Please, by all means, investigate for yourself and even check in with @nextlevelhifi as I’m definitely NOT an expert…..I just love how they sound. Could Borresen sell their 4 1/2” driver design that they use in their speaker? That’s possible but I would not think likely.

@cheche9 Wow! Great to hear that! So happy for you!!

Please keep us posted as they break in!

Would love to hear more!

@questforhifi hearing is believing.....These speakers do many things that speakers twice the price don't.  The new X1 sounds so much bigger than a "bookshelf" type of speaker with such a "live" sound that the artist appears to be coming from the middle of the room.  There is an unmistakeable three dimensional sound that creates a connection to the music.  Imaging and tonality is realistic not muddy or oversaturated.  So, for me, hearing the X1 for the first time led me to make a purchase on the spot with @nextlevelhifi.  I have spent significant time over the past 2 1/2 years listening to bookshelf speakers from as many manufacturer's as possible all over the country and at this price point nothing comes close. The closest sound in this approximate size is $16k based on what I have heard.

I encourage you to take a listen.

@treepmeyer You are in for a treat if you listen to vocals.  The imaging on this were spectacular and there were the x3's literally right next to them occupy space.  They were toed in quite a bit and the vocals were right there like you could touch them in the soundstage.  Quite funny watching people walk up and look at the X3's while the x1 was playing and couldn't believe that they were able to get that sound from the x1's.  People were literally sticking their ears up to the x3 cones.  Hopefully that gives you an idea of the soundstage, imaging and quality of the build.  I sent you a pm.

Thank you @mbmi you hit the nail on the head with your observation.  My intention was to inform Audiogoners about something new and exciting, knowing that only about 50 people were actually at the event with @nextlevelhifi and @jays_audio_lab and were able to experience the new X1 and the amazing line up of Borresen speakers. My second intention was to let everyone know that the Borresen rep will out at several upcoming shows and events so those that want to hear them in their local markets will have the opportunity to do so over the next several months.....in places like Florida, Dallas and back in Chicago at Axpona in April.  I will update everyone via this thread when I get my X1's in early March!

@stereo5 I didn't purchase the stands.  Mine will be on a credenza which is situated directly across from me on my office desk.

@roxy54 The X1 can be used as a bookshelf speaker. I will be placing mine on a credenza. Will be used in my office and I do have a REL T9X if necessary.

@stereo5  I appreciate your opinion and thanks for sharing.  Maybe I wasn’t clear. The X1, which was just launched yesterday, is a 2 speaker enclosure.  Not sure if you go to any of the shows or not (I don’t) but you may want to give them a listen. At $5500 a pair they sound much better to a that price.  Anyway, thanks again for your post.

@deep_333 PM me, and I can share some pictures.  Essentially, a 4 1/2-inch drive and a ribbon-type tweeter that sit on a stand ($1100 per pair) or can be used as a bookshelf-type speaker.  I am actually putting mine on a credenza.

@emergingsoul  Attempting to understand your comment about pricing and what it means to you; however, for my situation the X1's are an incredible value.  Usually, I try to be curious first about something new and different seeking to learn and understand, rather than paint broad brush strokes.  This is an experiential hobby for many so you may want to give these a listen.  At the end of the day your ears and only yours will determine if they sound great first, and then you can associate a $ value that makes them either worth your time and money or not.  I can confidently say the effort put forth developing this product and getting it out into the marketplace didn't happen by accident.   If you take the time to really understand the concept brought forth and understand the deeper technology and its application it will make better sense to you.  Happy listening and let your ears decide if these are right for you.

@aw-agd

Let me start by stating I love your products and have enjoyed learning about your brand.  Following are some insights that may help navigating through your website and your products more easily.  Commentary is open, honest, feedback.

Starting with your speakers when you click on Borresen your site states the following: "Borresen Acoustics offers two different speaker series: the 0-Series and the Z-Series."   Based on my experience you have more than 2 series.  There is also the X-Series which does not pop up anywhere on your site unless you specifically go to search and type in: X.  When you do that then the X product pops up.  I think there is also an M series but couldn't get that to pop up which could just be a glitch.  Imagine, if I did not know about the X series, which I did not, until your dealer shared that with me. I would have just glossed through your site instead of making a purchase, which, thankfully your dealer did a great job.

There exists a lack of detail, which, if addressed, would help conversion. When a consumer goes online to check out your products and below the Borresen it says "Have a look at some of our products below, and start exploring the Borresen world."  Why can I only see the Z5, 01 Silver Supreme and 03?  Why can't I check all of them out, not just those 3?  There is an intuitiveness about the site that is lacking.  Seems like there are lots of products flashing through the screen which again makes navigation difficult.  Lastly, on this subject, when you scroll on the < and > arrows and get to the end it just stops.  Why doesn't the scroll take you back to the first picture.  Instead, you have to click your way back which as we all know less clicks is better satisfaction.

As I stated above there may just be some glitches.  Maybe it's just me and @triode12 who think that your site is difficult to navigate.  Anyway, only trying to help you NOT looking to be impolite.

Happy to further discuss as there are more tangible examples that, if addressed, would help grow your brand.

Best of success in your journey!

@gandalf originally was told early March but I’m a realist when it comes to new production so I’m thinking sometime early April.  I’m sure @nextlevelhifi wants to be demoing and shipping these at the Axpona event in Chicago in April.  Did you order a pair as well?

@scslite I did not get the stands as they are going on a stand in my office. Unfortunately my office door gets in the way of using stands.

@gandalf I think mine arrive at the dealer this week or next.  I'm like you, too far away so will need them shipped here.  Let me know how it goes with your set up.

Of course my speakers arrived @nextlevelhifi yesterday and I am heading out on vacation today so I’ll have to wait a week. Would have been great to have let them play for a week while I was out of town.

Great News!!  @nextlevelhifi delivered my new Borresen X1's this week.  I told everyone that I would a provide an update after I received them and got them set up.  Speakers arrived individually boxed and are flawless. You can definitely tell there is a high level of quality control with the feel and finish.  Each one weighs 28 pounds.

Since I am using these on a credenza, I did not buy the stands, so was surprised they weighed that much and they are a bit bigger than I expected which is really nice.  They are very easy to set up.  One of the key sections in the user manual covers burn in time and they couldn't be more spot on.  Out of the box and turning them on they have a bit of a sound like they are covered up......but that initial sound went away in hours.  So far they have been running continuously for about 72 hours and what a difference that time has made.  They have bloomed wonderfully and the bass/midrange/treble is so synergized. The speakers have a very distinct clarity and sound much bigger than their size. I listen to a lot of Jazz and the soundstage is better than expected for my office set up.  The manual states that within 200 hours they will be about 80-85% broken in and fully there by 500 and if that is any indication of how they will break in I'm going to be more thrilled than I am now with purchasing these Borresen X1's.

I will provide another update in a few weeks but if you are going Axpona this weekend be sure to check out @nextlevelhifi and demo these amazing speakers and get your order in.
