Based on some of the responses I’m reading some of you folks need to seriously update your os. Not a knock, just sayin’. I use Firefox and never have an issue.
The inconsistency of this "security" check is frustrating. My XP computer gets "approved" sometimes and at others, like tonight, the verification bs runs for hours with no approval. Using my tablet goes through every time. Clearly the parameters are bogus - my systems aren’t secure at noon and insecure several hours later. |
Running Win10, watching on Chrome....don’t remember a captcha ever.... Maybe one once upon...*shrug* Guess I’m secure enough...YHO may vary... ;) Able to look at anything almost everywhere I can go.... Software and the hardware it occupies can be just as fussy as....well.... *points at stuff* Sorted out your drives and caches lately? |
My 11 year old iMac's browser doesn't experience anything of the sort described in this thread. It was only during the installation of the new features that Captcha was doing it's thing. Like already mentioned, some bots could be piggybacking on your accounts at random. Amazing, just how much info they have on your nowadays. Just this morning, I got an email from a NFT site stating overdrafts on my PayPal account and seizing my PayPal bank. They had my last name and complete address, down to the apt # but the zip was off by one digit. I love getting those just for the chance to reply with some huge font nasty replies. All the best, |
@ticat the way i got around this is going to forum.audiogon.com. no need to restart your compuer. |
No worries Capcha will be antiquated in the not-to-distant future as AI becomes even more prevalent. I didn't know bots were scammers...must be hard to pack up gear when it has no arms or legs. BTW, I have never had the Capcha screen come up on A'gon (now I probably just screwed myself). Regards, barts |
I am using Chrome browser, and the same PC to log in for years. I know earlier, I would get locked out if I was using a different computer, but this Capcha stuff is really tedious. Today, it seemed to check the browser and allowed me to log in without the Capcha stuff. Hopefully, it holds.
I know scamming has gone to new depths, but putting the onus on members makes using the site tedious. B |
There's an influx of scammers at the moment so I'm sure Tammy has her hands full. I bought at item from a member with multiple sales history, but apparently he was hacked and someone was using his account to sell high ticket items. The seller then 30 minutes later posted another ad under a different user with different pictures. I'd bet they're trying to keep the scammers at bay. |
Something has been going on At Audiogone and it’s not good, BUT I will not blame them for using Captcha. Sites need protection against bots to protect the US as much as to protect themselves. I just wish we didn’t have to go through the birthing process of getting this in place. I kept getting blocked not because I failed, but because The website NEVER displayed the captcha puzzle to solve so everything ended there. It has since been fixed and I am login in fine W/O any hassles. |
That is an annoyance, for sure. But nothing compared to reading a subject topic headline, your interest getting clicked, and then opening the post to find that it has been deleted by the "Audiogon Big Brother Admin's" who feel the need to protect and nurture us weak members 24/7. Or reading a post with 65 replies and 40 have been removed. Let's see how long before I get a free staycation at the re-education camp.... |
