There’s a certain member here, I think we all know who I am talking about, who continues to be little everyone else here with their rude and condescending remarks. He continually tries to insult and creat strife and division. It is not healthy for productive conversations or for the site. Why will the moderators allow this poison to ruin the site? They are turning people off from coming here and trying to start positive, useful content.
It’s a cancer that should be removed otherwise it’s going to have detrimental effects on this site. Is that so hard to understand for the moderators?
Tammy is so incredibly helpful but I don’t understand why this negative behavior is allowed to continue and fester...
"Analogy time: if I owned a pizza shop and had someone standing in front
of my door telling all my customers that pizza all over the world
sucks, and that they are stupid for eating pizza, and that no one can
really make a good pizza, I’d call the cops on him and have him removed." Depending on the country, you might be disappointed to find that if he is in public space, that you cannot do that! Just because you don't like an opinion does not legally mean that it cannot be spoken.
(And no, I am not defending truly abusive posts, but rather the fact that I feel that a lot of folks are way too intolerant, and instead of simply skipping that content or ignoring that user, they choose to attempt to dominate that individual with *their* point of view, which may or may not be any more or less valid. My view: Let 'em speak, and skip/block what you can't cope with . . . ).
IT IS CALLED FREE SPEECH . . . DEVELOP A THICKER SKIN, AND IF YOU DON’T AGREE WITH THEIR IDEOLOGY OR “POLITICALLY INCORRECT” COMMENT -- DEBATE IT! STOP BEING SUCH A WOOSE AND DEVELOP A PAIR!
I agree. Debating these things is constructive not destructive.
I’d love to have at it here with others on these topics. But I know it offends many and is usually off topic so I attempt to enact restraint, not always successfully.
Good manners means consideration for ALL and is NOT a political thing.
I lot has to do with how one conducts and presents oneself regardless of the topic. Destructive behaviors like obvious trolling for example is the thing to not tolerate.
There are "tools" everywhere, not just on this forum but nearly all of them. But, I don't take forum slams personally because "I'm good enough, I'm smart enough, and doggone it, people like me."
It’s a shame, so many gun forums have all this censorship. The constitution is being crapper’d on all the time.
I’m NOT for censorship! its against the constitution. As every forum I’ve been to call themselves a “family oriented” forum, that is bollox. It’s more control. This is a very good audio forum, I like it a lot!
so people are mean, and say bad things. So what, don’t be a puff, if your pu*** hurts, then don’t read it. So sick of the PC culture, and all it stands for!
if your easily hurt, too bad!! So sick of this great country , turning into a puff society.
People have to face the offensive poster themselves and tell them what is wrong. Hittin the report button is kind of lame. There are a lot of nerdy tech alpha dogs around here, so you can expect this kind of behavior (the premise is "I know everything and you are full of s@#t"). Insecure audiophiles who think they are Robert Harley or something. The worst thing that can happen is a topic started about special snowflakes. That will teach them. I have been around here for 3 months, but I know allready which comments to skip.
For the record, I asked Tammy to delete this thread 2 days ago; I dicn’t state which thread.
She immediately e-mailed me back but it went to my junk folder.
i just found it and let her know that it was this thread that I asked to be deleted.
I am all for free speech. Thats a big part of what makes this country great. I needed to learn, which I have, that if you don’t like what someone is saying, don’t respond or move on. I’d hate for anyone to start dictating what can be said here, or anywhere.
Lesson learned.
Another lesson learned is its not wise to post while under the influence of heavy pain meds. I’ve got a leg thats Horribly broken as of last week and have been on my back for 9 days straight now (with probably another 6 weeks to go).
Sorry guys for the crappy thread; I haven’t been by usual self lately.
b_limo, sorry for your injury. I was in a wheelchair for a while after a sports injury, and it wasn't a whole lot of fun either. But the drugs do the talking, don't they?
As for this thread, I don't think it's a waste of time. On the contrary, I think it was useful and timely, notwithstanding what others may think. If this was a mistake, you must be in line for a Nobel.
@b_limo Sorry to hear about your leg Some breaks can be excruciatingly painful, been there, and it does mess with the mind. Hope your haul is not a long one and that things mend quickly.
On the topic of this thread, I don’t think it needs to be deleted. It is not deletion worthy any more than some other posts/threads and if there is some good that comes out of it then it was worthwhile for you and possibly some others. Sometimes a little pressure relief is needed before a gasket blows and leads to a seized engine. Feel better -
I can sympathize with you. In 2004, I got hit by a car while walking ad my leg broke in 3 places. The Fibula was broken clean in half and was sticking out of the side of my leg. I was in the hospital for a week and was out of work for 15 months. To top it all off, my system was sick and one of my Vandersteen didn’t work. I listened to mono for a year before I was able to ship it. The doctors had me on OxyContin for 6 months, it was horrible. It took 2 more months to wean myself off them. I know how it is when you are hurting, many days I didn’t want to get out of bed. I had to wear a magnetic bone stimulator for 5 months. I was so happy the day I was cleared to return to work, later on I wondered why. Keep your spirits up and enjoy the music while you are home. Take care.
terry9: "the drugs do the talking..." b_limo, try breaking the pill in half next time before posting. HA. You are always a good contributor and this thread is fine! Heal Better :)

Everything has a place, that's is the issue..How well the poster blends in his or her opinions and politics is the problem. I like so and so, because he is a so and so, that likes my so and so, SO, so and so and so on...
ARE YOU ANGRY????, You shouldn't post in caps, it has a meaning.. To emphasize, or SCREAM.
The big problem is MONOTONY. over and over, I need new stuff, already read the old, 50 times......NEW........ I'll hold off on the political and religious debates... Me and God are good, first name basis....
Op just read your post. Don't be to put out at yourself. No need to explain yourself, either... A PM might go a long ways though..
The older you get to more you get there.
Your a person of integrity with empathy for others..... A better person for it.. And maybe will help someone else,,, Who knows... Might teach some folks a little manners... Manners don't cost, they just pay.....
"The celebrated Mr. K performs his feat on..." Well, any given day...*s*
Mea culpa, I know I've been guilty of the off-topic posts to the point of knowing I've gotten blocked. And, I've likely deserved it.
I agree that the better forums that remain 'mostly' on-topic are of more interest to those that the said discussion has meaning for. There are the ones that head off into the stratosphere of endless pages of circular 'commentary' that's more reminiscent of a bloodless bar fight,but....*sigh*
We all have our POV...ultimately, a Good Thing.
(The following is 'MHO') The recent forum (now deleted) by 'he whose name is being tactfully not being used (much)' was disturbing to me on some levels. I'd like to address that....with your kind permission....or not...*s*
Either it's a very deep game played upon the gathered, inciting everyone into a froth; the rationale for which we can only assume is a very personal 'cosmic joke'....that 'we' keep falling into.
Or, a deeply held belief that he Does Have The Answer. And we obviously don't agree.
Now...the old saying, "Starve a cold, feed a fever." reminds me of a means of treating trolls....or a psychosis.
Response...of any sort....feeds the fever, or the troll.
If you want The Game (or whatever) to end....Stop responding.
Personal attacks are just another form of 'meal'.
(Block this if you must; but at least, I've put my 2 cents down. Thanks if you've gotten this far....:)....) J
I think we all came here seeking comradery in the love of the hobby, and that's why it's so off-putting when someone users this board as a forum selfishly and in a mean-spirited manner just because they don't know how else to deal with their inner demons.
There is more than one offender here. The difference is that the offender in question is plain spoken while many others just hurl little barbs of insults. The difference is that some insults are permitted. They just need to line up with the general thought of the forum members. The minority thought is always undesirable to the majority. And the majority will often banish the minority. This has gone on forever.
I'm reminded of the message I got recently from an Agon member who thought I had insulted him. He called me a name and told me to Go F myself. In 20 yrs of forum membership here & elsewhere, I have never had that happen. I didn't remember insulting anyone. But I looked at the thread. What I w saw was that what he had said to me previously was every bit the insult as my rebuttal.
I forgot about it but he had let this eat at him for 2 days. Often time , people see other's mistakes , while believing themselves to be totally innocent of any. And that is most often not true
Candidly, I’ve pretty much given up on AudioGon as a source of education and entertainment. The Signal to Noise ratio is far too low. However, I truly do appreciate the contributions of @atmasphere, @almarg, and @audiokinesis. Thank you. When you decide to give up on this forum, shoot me a PM and let me know where you go.
Agree, Almarg has been nothing but helpful and informative for years. He’ll research your $500 dacs output impedance to make sure its enough to drive your $250 pre amp. Great guy!
Audiokinesis and Atmasphere are always informative and classy as well. Even though I’m not buying gear at the level they speak of, their posts are still fun for me to read and helpful for others!
The sad thing is that 10 years ago, there was a list of 15-20 people who were daily contributors in similar fashion.
We seem to have a surfeit of winter patriots who can't see past the flags and bunting. They just enjoy the rah-rah parts.
All of this crap about "free speech" when it's just mean spirited trolling, which is akin to yelling "fire" in a darkened theater. It's not protected and should stay where it belongs: with the YouTube crowd.
