Power cord for Quatro CT
Hurricanes? Even Richard Vandersteen himself will tell you to spend your money elsewhere. Your challenge is to make sure the IEC end will fit between the heat sink fins on the speaker’s plate amp. Why the 16 AWG requirement?
I stream 24/7. Do you?
@bigtwin, that’s great! You should listen to the manufacturer. However, my commentary still stands.
I stream 24/7. Do you?
@bigtwin    Other than increasing your electric bill, heating your room and shortening the life of your equipment,  why would you leave the system powered up 24/7? Electric bill - insignificant  Heat - insignificant  Shortening the life of ...

I don't sleep, I stream.
What speaker could safely be ordered without hearing it first?
I’m going to be a bit of a contrarian... As long as you stay within the same design family, and you’re not too obsessive about the various shades of goodness, and the speakers are generally well-known and discussed, I think it’s a pretty low-risk...
Picking Speakers 20k-30k
I’d consider a set of Vandersteen Quatro CTs (and, depending on the size of your room, a pair of Sub 3s).
Danny Richie on loudspeaker design.
I have a tremendous amount of respect for Danny, as both a designer and a contributing member of the audiophile community. Just my opinion!
Why are these called 5 way binding posts? I count four!
The term "5-way binding post" is actually a bit of a misnomer, as there are typically only four ways to connect speaker wire to these types of posts. The five-way designation comes from the fact that these binding posts have five individual compo...
the big one: how do you choose speakers? By what features, data?
I think @jchiappinelli pretty much nailed it. I could digress on #2, but overall it's a sound (pardon the pun) approach.

Modifying Crossovers
For the manufacturer to move from caps that cost less than a dollar each, to ones that cost $5 or more, ends up raising the price at the consumer level by much more. ...and just to be clear, people are generally not upgrading $1 capacitors to $...
Modifying Crossovers
Several years ago, when I had an obsession with vintage Pioneer equipment, I stumbled onto a set of Pioneer HPM-200 speakers (in pretty good condition) and wanted to see how much performance I would squeeze out of them. I commissioned a gentleman ...
Modifying Crossovers
3 things... There once was a speaker designer who claimed changing the quality of parts in a crossover (while maintaining the same circuit design) changed the sound of the speaker. Many disbelieved. So, he installed an upgraded crossover in a s...
Pre-owned cartridge recommendations for $500 and $1,000
Personally, the only cartridge I’d buy used would be a SoundSmith. A complete rebuild at a fraction of the price new? Yes, please.
