Why Don’t You Post Your System on Your Profile?

Many of you ask others to advise you, but the answer to so many questions is system dependent.  Why don’t you post your system on your profile prior to requesting help?

You have an incredibly well curated list of components, are you happy with the end result? It seems the MLP is too far back from your pic.

@lalitk Thank you. It was a fun project. Even with my limited soldering skills... it sounds darn good.

@kota1 That is some seriously cool stuff!

Yep, talk about WAF, she said it was either her or the room treatments and I guess you can see how that worked out.😁

Seriously, I found a great video series of interviews of Anthony Grimani who was also nice enough to exchange e-mail with me. I also received some helpful advice on treating a room for immersive audio from the Dubstage Studios AND Wilhelm Van Balen (owner of Galaxy studios and founder of Auro 3D). The basic blueprint I followed was the Grimani "recipe" which you see I posted as well. Check the :49 minute mark in this video:

@kota1 Just looked at your virtual system post. Now that's a treated room! What i have in my basement room is mild by comparison.

@kota1 yes, that and housetraining puppies. I also have a room in my basement that is treated with acoustic ceiling tile, foam back wall, corner foam in the front, and a tube trap. I think i posted pics of that as well here on AG

@nonoise

Nice system indeed, very inviting and I bet sounds amazing. Thanks for sharing.

When the conversation stops being about the music, I’m out. I think it’s time this thread died.

You should have taken your own advice before posting what you did, earlier, which wasn’t about the music, but hey, that’s progress.

One has to love all the drive by posts, taken down after a short time.

Regardless of where this thread went, there’s been 40 + 1 additional systems added to the Virtual Systems page since OP started the thread - that’s pretty good IMO. Not all of these additions can be attributed to this thread, but still.

I definitely respect those who haven’t or won’t - we all have are valid reasons.

+1 = @xenolith significant efforts towards his virtual system. Still making me chuckle over here.

This has been a most useful thread. It contains all the information anyone would need to understand why some A’gon users would never post their systems here.

There are some pics of my system on The Friendly Forum For High-End Audio.

@roxy54

Untreated rooms have an uneven frequency response, I meant using room treatments. You can see what I mean if you check out my virtual system, I posted Anthony Grimani's "acoustic recipe". For those of you following along who are concerned about the WAF they make panels that are also decorative, I just used Auralex panels like they would treat a studio with.

@kota1

What do you mean by "hard wood surfaces that are untreated"? What do they need to be treated with?

@doyle3433

Is the reason you have all of those hard wood surfaces that are untreated due to WAF?

@jjss49

I see we are both Carver fans, nice amp. BTW, I use those same Mapleshade speaker cables in my system in the man cave, Pierre Sprey knew his stuff, RIP.

i agree this thread has pretty much run its course

and the juvenile idiocy displayed here has been quite unpleasant (that sad character, with over 2000 posts - most rude and insulting - in less than two years 'since joining' is absurd, bordering on psychotic)

let’s hope for a better sense of citizenry and decorum in future postings

@coralkong  @dabel  I agree. This is 8th grade BS. Let's get back to being real men and ladies, enjoy our music and kit, and have some great conversations. Post your system pics or don't, it really does not matter to me, i see it as a personal choice. I'll enjoy talking to any member, with any system or gear irrespective of cost, room, or religious/political beliefs.

I happen to be one who enjoys posting pics of the modest system and things HIFI I've built over the years, but that's just me.

I'm no more or less concerned about someone coming into my home and lifting my system, (either when I lived in a higher crime area of my city, or out in the country as I do now). If someone wants to try, have at it.

@nonoise

Saw the pic that you posted, hope you can save enough money to buy a second speaker. BTW, I get the WAF thing and if skeletor has other plans for your budget (like another facelift LOL), I get it.

I think people post and share as much as they are comfortable doing so. Some people don’t really want to partake or interact as much as others. I have patipipated and had get togethers and listening sessions that goes far beyond what some audiophiles here would care to do. I think it’s all fine. The level or extent you are willing to share is up to you. I think the bots and ones that pose questions just to get an argument really bother me more......now that I think about it.

Man I gotta start doin sudoku or something to sharpen up my decaying mind. No matter how hard I try I can’t for the life of me tie the images of Tucky Carlson and the empty house to this convo, gettin old sucks.

I'm still not going to post my whole system but for those that missed the parts I did post, here is what kota1 went and had deleted:

and the two extra ones to show how one can get great color saturation and detail even in low light:

Let's see how long these stay up.

All the best,
Nonoise

@zigstien

thank you for chiming in and posting a system

we long timers have a different attitude when it comes this site

@kota1

I’m in a thread about photos on an audio website and I have both.

You got nothing....

The thoughts you express with the photos you post don't make sense. What are you trying to say? Empty rooms signify...what? Also, that phrase you keep repeating, "you got nothing", is that something you heard all your life? Is it a cry for help?

All the best,
Nonoise

I've been following this thread for the last view days and like most long threads it went sideways after page 2.

However after being a member of  this sight since the last century, I finally Posted a system.( or at least started), Thank you all for the push.

As a side note, quite a few post in this thread criticized the site  for being archaic but tolerated it  since it was a Free site.

Funny, I never considered Audiogon a free site but more of a commerce site that offered members  forums to discuss their hobby. I was kind of surprised  that many complaining members with 1K+ post have zero marketplace feedback.

Not really a complaint , I just thought it was interesting

@bikeboy52 As you can see from kotex's post right after yours he needed to have the post taken down to continue with his false flag narrative.

@kota1 What's with your obsession with audio and cars?  Were you concieved in the backseat of one? Is that where the trauma's from?

All the best,
Nonoise

@bikeboy52  You're not doing anything wrong. It's just that kota1 flagged the post and had it taken down about half a day after it went up. It was too much for him, I guess.

All the best,
Nonoise

@nonoise ,

You did indeed post some dandy pictures!

As the saying goes; It's not the arrow, It's the indian...

@kota1

Give it up son. Two days ago I did post some photos of my system in an attempt to tutor you in how to take a decent shot of your system. Remember?

I pointed out just how dark, out of focus and poorly composed they were on your systems page and with just using an old iPhone 8s, I posted some rather nice shots of a speaker, my integrated and the gear on my audio rack from an overhead shot.

The integrated was with no lights on in the room save for the TV and the units meters and it came out beautifully, showing tons of detail with great amounts of gradation from dark to light. The speaker and rack were done with just one light on in the living room, showing what can be done in low light conditions. I even threw in a couple extras of a bust and a calevera skull done in low light that came out in fine detail. The only decent shot of your system is one you took from Canuck Audio Mart (the logo is still on the lower right).

And what did you do? You reported the post and had it deleted so you could have something to complain about. What you forget is that it went up quite early in the evening and wasn't taken down until after 6:00am the next day so everyone who follows this thread saw it and had a good laugh at your expense.

All the best,
Nonoise

@nonoise

Give it a rest, @vonhelmholtz doesn't need advice from a guy that has nothing to post but his "woofers". Just go back to your car and:

car making mysterious noises? turn up the stereo - Drown it out with ...

The fact that you follow cretans like Tucker Carlson and Candace Owens, taking to heart what they say over there and applying it here, is downright weird. Did you think that even mentioning their names would win anyone over?

Those two are the king and queen of mean tweets and insults as for them, cruelty is the point (which is probably why kota and coralkong fit right in). That explains a lot.

Also, catty, effeminate behavior is the calling card of those that inhabit the spaces that Tucker and Candace dwell in. Where have you been for the last three or four decades?

Thanks (I guess) for that window into your inner self.

All the best,
Nonoise
