Which power cords have high resolutions and separation??

Price to spend around $500-800 used.

Tonality? I don’t mind that as much but around neutral would be preferable.

Thank you all.

In that price range I'd absolutely go with GR-Research's 24 strand power cables, they are around $400 each and I've tested them outperforming cables many times their cost. They are very open, accurate and transparent sounding. And if you don't like them you can send them back full refund.

I love this forum! We need a place to post reviews and ask about products. In this hobby almost 50 years. I have amassed a lot of experience,products and practical knowledge towards attaining better-in home sound.this forum had me interested in high fidelity cables ...years ago & these r a game changer& fabulous design & worth auditioning.that being said-do not doubt that better cabling can bring significantly better sound to your room & that power cords would be a smart place to start.of course, one has many choices—others I recommend r TheMarigo line of products from the “Maestro himself-Ron Hedrich”.(I do not know Ron personally,)I audition his products & know he is a brilliant engineer with a true knowledge of “good sound” withanaccommodating user trial period. & reasonable pricing.for his products-these R now my reference!!Chi

@fthompson251 I have no doubt you will be happy with those cables. Between them and the power conditioner I have, there is  Zero noise on my system that I can hear. I have one more electra 7 coming for my CD transport as well.

@hilroy48  I am in the process of scooping up Wireworld Silver Electra 7's for my front end components. I just found another one today and am hoping to finish that transaction. I have another one arriving today, a 2M for my DAC. I have an E7 on my DDC currently. The one I am hoping to get today will go on my CEC CD transport. These are replacing very old Shunyata Black Mambas I have had for 20 years. I am looking forward to what advancements have  transpired in the past 20 years.

Look at Akiko Audio line products before spending megabucks on a PC. Cleaning up the junction box and ground has bigger payoffs

OP, I would build a power chain starting with dedicated line if you can, then a nice outlet (Pangea/synergistic research/etc), a power conditioner (I like Black Lion Audio which is available where they sell pro gear like sweetwater), and then a power cord. I don’t think you should get a power cord without auditioning at least 3 so you can appreciate what you like and don’t like.

Tell me, which amp manufacturers supply larger than 20SWG for delivery in the US?

You're the one making silly cable claims, so I'd have thought you already knew the answer to this.

... what were the results of the blind tests you carried out?

Why don't you tell us about your blind testing? What was tested? How many trials? How many subjects?

@cleeds   Perhaps I was forgetting the US only has 120V which means double the amps.  Here in UK we don't have much but we do have 230V.

Tell me, which amp manufacturers supply larger than 20SWG for delivery in the US?

@rolox   and what were the results of the blind tests you carried out?

Welcome @timetraveler66  and well said.  I guess you were born in 1966 so got a decent education, as I did.

@clearthinker We are eagerly waiting for the list of "fancy" power cords you ACTUALLY TRIED. It would help tremendously to give credit to your affirmations.

I have all Wireworld Silver Electra 7 cables with reference ends on all my gear, i am very happy with the overall sound. My dealer gave me 3 different Wireworld power cords to try for a week, and i found the one that suited my ears best.

On my second system, I have a mix match of cables, I have slowly started to replace them so they are all the Same. Find what suits your hearing and room, end of story.

My answer to the OP would be High Fidelity or Silent Ssource MR. May be able to get in your price point used.

Well, that depends on the engineer. I prefer the perspective of Hans M. Strassner, Garth Powell and Caelin Gabriel.

Bose system huh!  Now that's  funny. I had a good chuckle, Come on here out of nowhere and bash power cords. I'm still laughing

@charles1dad and @thyname agreed.
Let’s not try to teach a pig to sing.
Ignore and they’ll go away.

Yup! Trolling on subjects with zero relevance to these sick folks has become THE hobby

Mindless trolling has become increasingly prevalent on Audiogon unfortunately.

Charles

You people are honestly crazy that actually prescribe to the fact that a 500-800 dollar power cord would actually make that big of a difference. Fix your house first, some fancy power cord won't do a dang thing if your house has shoddy electrical work.

If you have any Ansuz dealer around your village, go for a demo A2 power cables and the best one is D2's if you have enough budget , and you will never loose money....

A power chord is a two note chord that is neither major nor minor. Savvy music theorists will note that this is because it only consists of the root and fifth notes of a given chord. Since the third is what determines if a chord is major or minor, power chords remain neutral.

So there you have it, power cords, lacking a third, remain neutral. Save you money.

@timetraveler66 My guess is the educated person heard you had a Bose system and told you the power cables would make no difference given your “system” and you ignorantly misinterpreted his recommendation that power cords make no difference, and now you’re doubling down on your ignorance. Keep going. It’s kinda fun. BTW, what equipment do you have in your system that leads you to your emphatic conclusion that greatly contradicts 95% of the experience of the people here who don’t rock Bose and actually have fairly accomplished systems?  Please, do tell what your system consists of if you would as it’d be most enlightening.

@timetraveler66,

How can you gain experience only by reading or only guided by the advice given from an educated person? This is beyond my understanding. It does not work that way. Some call this hobby some others passion, there is a difference between the two but in both cases you cannot save time and money.

No need to ask why it is impossible for a power cable to have an influence in sound. You are entitled to believe whatever you want but presenting facts makes this more valuable.

15 years ago I would have agreed. Bought a used power cable I could resell and break even on. Still can’t believe it.

If I am delusional it seems to be a constant, repeatable event, so I’m good with that.

@timetraveler66 :

But if you can learn by reading or talking to someone who is actually educated in whatever it is you are thinking of doing,

Tell me more. I am interested. I love educated people. You are planning to go to college in a few years I assume ?

@timetraveler66

Rather than letting someone tell me what I should hear, I as well as most folks here prefer to formulate our own opinions based on experimenting with various components, cables, acoustic treatments and tweaks. That’s how the open minded members of this community learn. Can you respect that and try not to dump a bucket of 💩 on everyone in this discussion? You should just give it a rest at this point. You’re embarrassing yourself by continuing that display of character you’ve exhibited earlier today.

@timetraveler66 Sorry.  If u like ur Bose more power to you.  Plus, you don’t have to spend a dime on better power cords. Win win!

I am so glad that i can experiment with different things and still learn from more experienced people here. After all having learned to listen using my ears is a gift.

So i suggest to deniers at least give it a honest try and if not convinced then you can rave having saved some money, fair isn't it?

That was intense but it looks like the tirade is finally over. Not much value in it though but nevertheless a colorful and honorable performance.

Xyobgen, many post on subject. Over  and over.

Deniers fume and we keep buying and enjoying power cables.

And the moderator that is removing my post you might as well block me. Because you are nothing more than an uneducated DOUCHEBAG

What's the matter? You seem to be in distress.

Debating power cables is like debating religion, you can’t win against a “belief” no matter how much logic you present the “believer”.

And that’s how they troll….lately almost every good cable discussion is just sitting on a time 💣 waiting for the ASR minions to wander in.

I’m shocked no one talks about what brand wire to use between the outlet and the breaker box. Why no discussion about audiophile breakers? There is discussion about fuses within the components, why not on the breaker box?

Why no discussion about the material in the main breaker box supplying the whole rail?

Point is that 10, 20, 30 maybe 100 feet of common garbage wire is between your outlet and the breaker. For many those wires may even travel along other wires for appliances and other devices making tons of electric noise.

And you think 3 feet of $$$$ wire from wall to components will make a difference?

You would have to try hard to find a power cord worse than the junk in your walls going to the mains.

Just food for thought.

The point of it all is that when I read the nonsense of a power cable making a difference in sound I need to correct that completely WRONG statement.  A factory power cord is all that is needed.  If you want to argue that a cord made out of 16 guage wire sounds terrible I might agree on a high powered amplifier.  Because it cannot carry the load of the draw which will cause all kinds of problems.  But a factory cord designed for the current of the piece is all that is needed.  And any talk of gains by replacing with snake oil is pure insanity. And even worse than that is the same power cable claims on a preamp that draws near nothing.  So you can try and figure out my reasoning for posting my negativity about smoke and mirrors. And you can ask all you want to see my equipment.  Instead you might want to get truly educated on the technical side of audio electronics and basic electrical theory before making bogus claims of "better sound" using a high end power cable.  Not happening.
