But where does user name like Cornfedboy, Garfish, Calloway, Tireguy, SwampWalker (and many many others) come from? Any story behind?
No, speakers and pre & amp are American built. The sources are Asian. I appreciate the quality that the Italians build into their products as well as the style they present. But alas as in many things in life, a bit out of reach. But a trip to Little Italy in Philly or Baltimore for a roast pork sandwich, or an expresso and cannoli slways makes up for the Brioni suit I'll never own or the Ferrari that will never be parked in my driveway. Comes from my actual name. Used to be my full name, then truncated. Anyhoo to me using your real name communicates trust to buyers. Ergo, you can be tracked down. Like a dog.
I would say mine is easy to figure out,I have been a printer for most of my working life,newspaper,magazine,checks,inserts,coupons.Mostly web offset,coldest and heatset. When I was 6 my family had a small weekly magazine,I remember stapling magazines and getting a huge staple in my hand,,ah,,childhood memories,my Father and Grandfather made their own camera to shoot the pages with.

It was the name of the manufacturer of the motorhome I lived in. Lean times but I was footloose and went whichever way felt right with little real stress.

All my usernames across various sites come from The Godfather. I'm the godfather to my nephew, poor kid, and when he was little I had no end of fun doing Godfather "shtick" - the orange peel thing, brushing the underside of my chin and mimicking the voice with my chin jutted out, air smacking him and telling him to sit up in his high chair like a man, that kind of thing. It made him giggle, so the gig went on for years.
My original username for most things was Clemenza. We even named our cat Clemenza. The problem was, I changed internet providers often in the early days because they kept buying each other out. I got a new provider at one point and Clemenza, Tessio, even Luca Brasi were already taken! So I went with Virgil "The Turk" Sollozzo, who no one uses much because he was one of Tattaglia's guys. That one stuck. I had to become one of the bad bad guys. I still go by Clemenza in some places, but I'm mostly VSollozzo now. I have a helluva time spelling that out for people.
Max is our dog's name.... And he is our boy...hence maxboy. The numbers at the end mean nothing. We also have Sadie... AKA Sadie girl... but not before the handle was created.
When I was in music school in the late 70's I composed a piece of music for solo guitar. It was somewhat in the style of the preludes of Francisco Tarrega so I attributed it to the imaginary turn-of-the-century guitarist Tostados Unidos. Title of the piece is "Cancion do los Chicharrones." For some reason it popped into my head when the empty box stared at me, asking for a user name for Audiogon.
Silly me... years ago, just started with my real name. I also go by VinylRob elsewhere which audio club mates started calling me do to my life long predilection.
