The Audiophile's Wife

My wife has put up with my a-phile ways for years and has decided to write a blog about it. Thought you (or more likely your spouse) might get a kick out of it.

Even though she writes with a bit of an edge, she's really a good sport and very supportive of my "hobby".

The Friday, May 6, 2022 post is hilarious. Thanks to TAW and looking forward to the next post.

@grannyring

Wow! I just came across this. Your wife is a hoot!! I love here style of writing. Thanks.for the laughs

Glad to have come across this!  Please tell her to keep it up for all of us!

I rarely have read anything with insight and entertainment such as this.

Many years ago, it was kind of the opposite in my life. I dated a belly dancer. No, in real life she wasn't belly dancer material, but that didn't stop her. I should have been writing it all down. Maybe I will recall some the weirdness of the 'relationship' and write it down.

Didn't grannyring recently attend Axpona (with "the wife?")

If so I'd love to read an entree about attending an audiophile show on TAW.

It should be rich pickins'

@unclejeff LOL! "after I put all of the boxes (evidence) away"

I thought I was the only one that did this...it involves new record purchases, after I have told her like 100 times, no more new records, lol.

Yes, really love The Audiophiles Wife blog. Such wit and some really good "inside" jokes/references, and some of those not even a reference to The Audiophile or audiophilia.

To have a wife that understands you, sort of, is to be blessed indeed.

Especially one who is articulate and writes so well.

Her blog could be a great balm to some of us afflicted with audiophile urges. A cure, of course, might be a little too much to ask for.

Here’s just one fine example of what you are likely to find there.

Rock a Bye Baby

Recently I overheard a fragment of a conversation The Audiophile was having with his stepson. His stepson, for those of you working through this biological conundrum, is also the only human being I’ve personally baked from the size of a bean to the size of an 8-pound bean.

As always, I wasn’t paying a lot of attention until I heard The Audiophile say, "A tube amp is a great first project, but you’ve got to be careful because you’re dealing with anywhere from 350 to 525 volts under the hood, and that will kill you dead very quickly."

Soooo, if I understand this correctly, what we have here is a situation where The Audiophile has somehow enticed my 180-pound bean to engage in a hobby that, on a really bad day, may very quickly turn one of them into a big pot of soup.

Simply the best & so funny, clever, and creative!  Grannyring, you are one lucky man!!!  What an amazing wife you have!

grannyring,

I enjoy your wife's writing SO MUCH.  What a wit!   She's the female Art Dudley (or "anti-Art Dudley"?)

Please encourage her to keep it up, and know that many of us still read and get a huge kick out of the blog.  My wife was just asking what I was laughing at and it was, of course, her latest piece.

I wasn’t aware she was writing again Bill, but good for her, and good for you both to be retired.  I keep threatening to chase my wife into retirement but I cannot tell if she is happy or scared about that - it will either be, “oh good, I can get stuff fixed anytime I need to,” or “doesn’t he have somewhere to go…or cables to build?”

My RLJ guess would have been Weasel and the White Boys Cool but I like the guess by @sbank too - Last Chance Texaco.  I really like both of those songs on Naked Songs, which is my favorite RLJ album. Happy New Year!

Not sure why I only discovered this around Christmas of 2021, but sure glad I did. Love the concise "knowing" of The Audiophile's wife! Slowly getting through all her delightful posts; if you hear me laugh while I'm listening to music, you know why.

She likes Company on that album.  Actually,  Kim is OK with the complete album but simply can no longer listen to Chuck E’s In Love !

I love RLJ and over the years she has come to like her a little :).

@grannyring Loved the post that implies she hates RLJ debut, which happens to be my favorite album of all time. Is Last Chance Texaco the song she likes? My fav too. I got a kick out of that. Cheers,

Spencer

OMG!  I love her!  She’s terrific, but then again, you already know that.

It’s very late here so I just read this past month’s blogs, but next time will have to start at the beginning and binge read it.

Very witty and entertaining.

My wife has been posting new content so if you want a good laugh, then check it out again.  Merry Christmas Agoners!

Thanks to all for your support of my wife. She has been very busy and is now back to writing ....

Have fun!
I just re-read April/May; I am laughing hysterically. Your wife has a gift. I look forward to the next installments; they are missed. All best.
I love it too, been looking for it every few days. Hopefully you are just on vacation and returning soon!
I have been enjoying your wife's column for a long time and miss it now. Will she write again??? TIA.
My wife has always teased me for my insistence on keeping all the original equipment boxes. No explanation about the importance of doing so for future shipping seems to satisfy. The stacks of empty boxes in the basement just keep growing.
Frogman,

My wife says she'll gladly take requests, "as long as the subject is outside of her expertise and brings on the funny."
I'll say it again, Grannyring: you are a lucky guy. Your wife is not only a talented writer, she is very witty and funny. If she were single, and I were single, well.... Sorry man, I'm sure you understand. BTW, my wife loves the blog; she wants to know if your wife will consider a request for subject matter.

BTW Chadnliz, I don't get how you could have possibly thought she was a guy. Maybe you should drop it? It's ruining my fantasy ;-)
I must have misread anothers post about being seperated I am sorry. My gut still says a man writes this. ;)
I find myself looking forward to reading the new blog post that arrives on Fridays. It always gives me a chuckle.
We are not separated Chadnliz. Happily married and very much together I am happy to report.

I cannot write very well to be honest. Believe what you must to deal with the blog!
So your seperated but "she" still writes a blog in both friendly and current context? Doesnt add up but from the start I said its written like a man trying to act like a woman. Just gotta go with my gut here.
Your wife have nice writing skills, you better help her to get more involved on audio.
Grannyring - You're one lucky dude. She's not nearly as uninformed or uninvolved as she claims to be. Great stuff from her. I'm thinking I will forward to my wife but trying to evaluate the potential consequences. She is MAJORLY disinterested in my audio pursuit.
