I need a little help from a UK, German, Greek or Israel member.
I live in Israel, I can send them a message for you.  But my thinking is that if they only accept messages from those 4 countries, perhaps they might only wish to ship to those 4 countries?  Send me a private message with their information and wha...
Korneff or similar 45
Alan used to sell tubes on eBay and a good friend of his, a retired long time McIntosh engineer, from time to time would make beautiful custom amps mods from organ amps. Jim Edmunds I think his name was, and about 15 years ago or so, I bought an a...
Korneff or similar 45
Once upon a time I owned a very early Jeff Korneff 6BQ5 SE amp that was amazing.  Years later, when it came time to sell it, I was in contact with Jeff Korneff and he asked me not to describe it as a Korneff amp, but as an early Jeff Korneff desig...
Help me identify an amp
Carlsbad2 - Absolutely Not!!! Never ever do that with vintage tube gear unless you want to risk replacing an expensive and hard to find transformer. Bring up the voltage slowly on a variac is the right thing to do.   so it may be a GSI modified...
Speaker List narrowed down…
@grislybutter - apparently so :) @aj523 - I’m not shaming anyone here, your doing that all by yourself.  More power to you that you can spend $25K on speakers, I think that’s great.  Likewise, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with what I said...
Speaker List narrowed down…
$25K is a lot of $$$ for speakers.  You could buy a great pair of used speakers for much much less and commission someone to refinish them in high gloss white and they would look brand new.

Amps that don’t impersonate space heaters.
Go check out Derek Sanderson’s Fleawatt amps, you’ll be very surprised.  When I A/B’d it against a 6B4G SET amp, I had trouble justifying tubes, it just made no sense in running tubes when I listened to it….
Decisions, decisions, decisions
Just checked quickly on US Audiomart and for about $1000-1200 you could get: 1.  A Tandberg stack - amp & preamp; 2.  Aragon 2004 & 24K preamp; 3.  Muse 100 amp & Morrison Elad preamp; 4.  B&K M200 monos, Threshold CAS2 or Mona...

If it were me, (and admittedly I am not familiar with all the different upgrades of Vandersteen 2CI, 2CE, etc), I would look to upgrade both electronics and speakers and buy used as you can save quite a bundle on used gear.  The Adcom GFA2 is an o...
Should we care if a piece of equipment comes from a pet-free, kid-free, smoke-free home?
grislybutter  My attempt at rhyming humor.  I wrote: ”I think ending future ads with this might draw some extra interest?  What do you think? “Stereo equipment in a Smoke free, Woke Free, Hot Trophy-wife home,” :)   I figured people might wan...
Would like to try a tube preamp after years of solid state and hybrid
I heard both the SP-6B and the SP8 at different times and on different systems.  The person who owned the 6B had also said it was the best of the SP6’s (SP6A - SP6E).  I also read from the later Roger Modjewski (Music Reference) in his tech days b...

Charley Horse - I like what you’ve accumulated in terms of audio gear. It’s all of a certain vintage and all very good sounding, without that next level price tag and performance. All good bang for the buck gear, which is where I usually have alwa...
Would like to try a tube preamp after years of solid state and hybrid
Charlie Horse - What I have not seen anyone ask here is this - What ICs do you use between amp and preamp?  A most critical question to ask, IMHO. With over 40 years in this hobby, (including a few selling audio gear at retail), I have found that...

I think ending future ads with this might draw some extra interest?  What do you think? “Stereo equipment in a Smoke free, Woke Free, Hot Trophy-wife home,” :)
