Hafler Series Trans Nova 9505 vs Yamaha M80 Power Amps
The TransNova Haflers were designed by Jim Strickland of Acoustat, not David Hafler and those Acoustats (TNT 200 & TNT120) were great amps.  I would take the Hafler over the Yamaha all day….. But another amp that I really like at 1/2 the pric...
The Audiophile's Wife no longer putting it out?
I miss The Audiophiles Wife!  Her blog was the best!!!  Grannyring, please ask her to start writing again.
New vs uses in your current setup
For years, it was always nothing but used gear, but as I look at my system across the room, surprisingly, it is 3/8 pieces are new.  A Schitt Mani, Bluesound Node 2i, and an Audiolab 6000CDT we’re all purchased new.

Nearly 40 years ago, my best friend and I were on a long bike ride, about 40 miles down some country roads in Delaware County, SE Pennsylvania.  I had a good scenic loop for us to do.     Mid ride, down this 2 lane country road in farm country, t...

@vrao81 100% - being happy with your lot in life, which for me is owning some kind of tube amplification, hence my Audiogon name.     Unfortunately, that concept can be a real struggle when the itch - the bug - upgraditis rears its head and you’v...
??? What Is Your Favorite Speaker Finish ???
It depends on how well they are finished.  When the wood has a high gloss finish that looks like glass, it can look amazing; likewise, when it has a very natural low gloss ting oil finish it can look equally attractive.

Which amplifier
Cornwalls don’t need anything near that kind of power.  In fact, just the opposite it true.   If you really want to make them really sing like you never heard before, try a low powered SET amp on them like a 2A3, 45, or 300B amp or a Derek Sanders...
British Integrated Amps
I had the 4330 too, MkI I think?  Not sure I really know the diff between mkI & MkII, a remote perhaps?  At any rate, I thought that it was a truly excellent sounding int amp!
British Integrated Amps
Update:  We’ll, it’s now almost 4 years later and I’ve been in Israel the last 3.5 years.  The prices for used audio gear here is insane, almost double of what you would pay in the US for audio gear.  I managed to sell my Meridian gear (551 & ...
Castle speakers IAG
Incidentally, Castle manufactured the cabinets for ProAc, Monitor Audio, and a number of other British speaker companies, but not sure which other companies?  The ProAc Super Tablettes and Monitor Audio R700MD look identical in their cabinetry.   ...
Castle speakers IAG
I had the Durham 900s in Yew several years ago and they indeed very nice speakers.  I’ve had ProAcs (Super Tablettes, Studio 1s), Celestions (C7, SL6, 100s), Missions, Mordaunt Shorts, Linns, Monitor Audio, and Wharfedales and the Durham 900s held...
Anyone else constantly curious about amps?
Oops, in my previous post, I meant to say Dyna ST35 reissue instead of EL84 Dyna mkII as my second favorite amp when I attended that audio show many years back.  That is a great sounding amp.
Which amplifier
FWIW:  I used to sell Klipsch at retail many years ago and I agree with those who said neither amp.  If you really want those Cornwalls to shine like they never did before, put a low powered SET amp on them.
Anyone else constantly curious about amps?
I’m also a tube guy at heart and I tend to keep tube gear a lot longer than when I have solid-state electronics.  I get bored with SS amps/integrateds after 6-8 months and look to try something different; whereas, whenever I’ve had a tube setup (t...
