Tekton haters and bashers you just got a new target!

They're both ugly so they have that going for them. I misplaced my giant clothespin anyone see it ?

Monitor Audio has been around for well over 50 years, Tekton has not.  Monitor Audio designs its own drivers, Tekton does not. Monitor Audio has a group of designers and engineers, Tekton does not. Monitor Audio is a large corporation with $$$ for R&D, Tekton is on a shoestring budget. These two companies could not be any more dissimilar.

This says it all.  OP just seems to be trying to stir the pot.

I agree!

I’ve never heard a Tekton speaker so I am obviously no Tekton fanboy, but it seems to me that the MA 50 midrange/tweeter array bears a striking visual resemblance to that of many of the Tektons.

Sorry people, today I've been typing fast and have mixed up Mundorf, Magico and Monitor already.  I beg your patience.

I’ve never been in the Tekton bashing business. Never heard them but thought they had some interesting ways to create a coaxial speaker. Everyone criticizing them for comb filtering was wrong. Everyone.

I want to say a couple of things about Monitor Audio:

  • Their AMT tweets are legitimately awesome
  • The side-ways midwoofers are absolutely fascinating to me

Let me explain. I’ve been toying with the idea of line arrays which face inwards like this for a while based on the idea that Doppler distortion vanishes at 90 degrees to the driver’s axis. Some of us believe that Doppler distortion caused by LF interfereing with the mids is a major reason why adding a subwoofer to 2-way systems makes everything sound better. With six 6.5" or so midwoofers, pointed sideways this speaker has a legitimate chance at being a GOAT for the average enthusiast who wants neutrality and low distortion and great output.

By average enthusiast, I mean those of us who can’t afford Magico’s $750k beast in each of our homes.

I truly envy the engineers at Magico who get to put things like this together. I wish I worked there.

All kinds of people in the world, all kinds of speakers. Live and let live and try not worry what the other guy has. Just enjoy the music.

Why not go back to early Legacy Audio speaker designs that used multiple driver arrays? The list goes on and on.

All the best,
Nonoise

I don't think there is any real commonality between Tekton and this Monitor Audio speaker other than multiple drivers

I agree. Any comparison is quite a stretch...

Haters will be haters…I see few of ‘happy’ ASR members taking a stab at design and aesthetics and you certainly enjoy stirring the pot 🤣
