Schiit not shipping

I just ordered a Schiit Mani phono preamp this past Monday. Got confirmation that it was shipped out Tues. and It should be at my doorstep This Saturday. If all goes the way Schiit says it will, I have no complaints.

Just a note about Schiit service...I had an issue with an Aegir that turned itself off too easily, and they sent me another one immediately with excellent communication and no baloney...no return shipping fee for the rejected amp, no fees for the new one. Sadly I did return the second one as it's sound wasn't what I prefer, but that's just me. Great company though.

Anyone else getting this message with a cancelled order with a valid credit card from them?

Interesting wolf, I couldn’t get any depth out of the Saga no matter what I tried, where as with the Parasound P5 in the same exact system it was present when recordings had it. Perhaps the Freya is indeed better in this regard than the Saga.  But  at any rate I got tired of having to flick the power switch and my sub could not do much with the second set of pre outs.  YMMV.

I was just getting ready to prepare to order a Yaggy.

My Freya, albeit with non stock Sylvania 6SN7GTBs, projects a perfectly balanced soundstage with depth and air unless the recording has none, in which case it produces that also.

Hopefully the wait is almost over for those waiting for their orders.  I feel for customers as I was waiting for a Freya before I gave up and bought the Saga as mentioned above.  From what I understand, the heating up economy is causing shortages all over.   It’s definitely a good job market in many areas.

 I ended up returning the Saga.  I had thought that I was getting some depth to the soundstage with some material, but that might have been a little optimistic as I’m not getting that now.  I also can’t really hear any differences between passive and tube stage.

I burned in the Saga for 50 hours.  It does sound very good with a wide soundstage and a neutral sound, though it sounded bright at times in my system.  

I found that I needed some gain and missed having remote on/off, bass management, and 12volt triggers, to name a few things lacking that the Parasound P5 has.  I thought the Saga might replace the P5 for me, but to my ears it doesn’t.

The P5 gives enough spatial cues to have 3D imaging, or depth to the imaging, at least with my system.  Plus the tone seems fuller.  So the Saga is going back.  

Just out of curiousity, has anyone been getting good depth to the soundstage with either the Freya or Saga?

I'm sure Schiit isn't happy with delays in shipping as it's likely that many have cancelled orders, and getting a bad reputation for service is something no manufacturer wants. In any case, although mine was delayed by a couple of weeks back in November, I still have no idea how they make a $700 tube preamp in the USA that actually sounds fabulous...I assume they're simply less greedy and that approach has (mostly...shipping issues make people angry) worked for them maybe too well.

The guys at Schiit should take heed. The audio business is too competitive and too small with few customers. They are letting their own reputation get tarnished.....

Another ship date has passed. As of June 8, their website still says June 6--misleading as Schiit. 4th missed date. Still no communication initiated from them. Just missed ship dates. 

I think companies, large and small, should get out in front of problems. Maybe a letter to the customer with explanation--is that too much to ask? Maybe offer another product that is in stock and could be returned? Pull product from the website? Their name needs to be funny and ironic. 

So far, they're full of Schiit. 

I bought my first product from them by online order Friday. An Eitr. I got a notice of shipping today (Monday) from the "Incontinence Institute of America." These guys are really beating this to death. Whatever. I have a sense of humor, and notwithstanding the "poo-poo head" level of their marketing, I think the company offers some clever products at price points that make sense, even to non-audiophiles or the budget-minded.

Someone told me when I had problems with a very small but popular audio company that poor service often came with “boutique audio companies”. I had
really poor communication with the owner, excuses, an arrogant reply, terrible customer service and overall lost money. Never again. That was not Schiit Audio, but maybe it could be.

I seriously would contact this company and be real frank with them and get right to the point and tell them ; that you are not taking heir Shitt anymore. Then be done with it as I would real tired of their ; Bull Shitt

Interesting that many of the alleged "drug addled" posters around here have maintained some basic punctuation skills as well as the application of rational and (sometimes) logical thought to their posts. Clearthink might be well intentioned, but comes off as a tragic extra from Breaking Bad.

I am certainly thinking more clearly than those who's brains are scrambled from their self-admitted drug use whether current or in the passed and I continue to be amazed at the sheer numbers of contributors here who openly admit, acknowledge and embrace the use of mind altering drugs and of course this completely undermines the value of any opinions they offer here.

I ordered Freya March 23rd...along with Yggy. Freya May be ready to ship 6/6 (doubtful) but Yggy has the gen 5 problem and shows 6/29...most likely Freya will be off the shelves again and they won’t ship me an Yggy either at the end of June. I feel like my order is spiraling down the schiitr
and I’ll never see a ship date

I think it best that we stick to the subject instead of speculating who does and does not consume drugs.  That is no ones business but theirs.

It doesn't seem like a tremendous number of A'goners who actually post are heavy into the drug scene. I mean, who knows what happens behind closed doors, but I have the feeling most audiophiles have either progressed past that stage or never walked on it.

Especially the nitrous stage. I mean, that's pretty hedonistic. It brings back memories of balloons and CO2 cartridges all over the parking lot.

What is with you guys that depend on drugs there are so many of them here are you all Americans? It's like the guy who was promoting his $25,000 USD listening test challenge scam who admitted to his use of hallucinagenics are things so bad in the US that you can't be happy without mind altering drugs that's what I have a Music Reproduction System for!

That’s funny, while I was waiting for the Freya, I bought a sys too.  I was quite impressed for $50 too, but in my system I thought it was harsh and bright at times.   Like it needed some buffering.   The Saga is better in that regard and I love the tube circuit, better volume system and remote.

but the sys did surprise me.

My experience with the Saga is interesting.  I first bought the little cheap passive Sys just for fun.  I put it in my system and was really really impressed.  I thought, if this Sys is so good, then the Saga must be unreal.  I picked one up and gosh darn it, that cheap little Sys actually sounds ever so slightly better.  I know it shouldn’t and I feel ridiculous having my system driven by such a cheap preamp.  Every few weeks I’ll think I’m crazy and put the Saga back in the system and every time I end up preferring the Sys.

I should correct the thought mentioned earlier about plunking down your payment to Schiit to only wait weeks or longer.  Schiit doesn’t charge your cc until they are going to ship your item.  I was on the order list for the Freya for almost a month and cancelling to order did not get a “terse” response at all.  A polite acknowledgement is more like it.

on the Saga, yep, I’m really loving this unit!  I’ll even risk more ire from the nay sayers and encourage cable tweaking.  I’ve been breaking in the Saga and just this evening realized I was still using the stock power cord.  I swapped in a cheap Pangea 14 MKII, and got a nice surprise.  this would be system dependant and YMMV, of course.  

i believe best results are had when each component has an upgraded cord, and that’s what I’ve got.  If anyone is thinking about a Saga, theyve got a few b stock versions available at present.

I own the Saga and it's awesome. I am so happy with it that I sold my $1700 tube preamp and this little $349.00 single tube preamp now is in my main system, in front of an Odyssey Khartago SE+++ solid state power amp. The first thing one usually notices with the Saga is just how transparent it sounds and how the tube circuit breathes life into the soundstage. I have been an audiophile for nearly 45 years, have owned preamps over 10x the cost (1980's dollars) of the Saga and I just love how this thing sounds, with the tube in the circuit.  I also love how Schiit executes the relay-switched stepped attenuator volume control and that it has two pre out RCA jacks, so at night, I just power down the power amp and turn on my headphone amp and run the Saga (with tube circuit) into the headphone amp (Schiit Lyr 2 tube amp), controlling volume with the Saga's remote. My only two nitpicks with the Saga is I wish the volume had the 128 step volume control instead of the 64 step one and if one of the preouts was on/off switch controlled so I could just keep the Odyssey powered up 24/7.  That said, just buy a Saga and save yourself $350.  The Saga is, IMHO, probably the best. Price/Performance piece of audio gear I have had the pleasure  to own!
