Power

What is a good power conditioner that I can use without breaking the bank? Also, what is a good AC power cable I can use for that, plus the Schiit Vidar power amp that isn't super expensive? I am currently using the stock cable for the amp. Thank You!

Hello,
I agree with MC. If you can do a home run or two I would do that. +1 on the Decware. This is a buy once cry once. Later if you still want the power conditioner get the Puritan PSM136 for $1600 and it comes with a great power cord. I own a Puritan and think it is worth its weight in gold.
Troy should not be allowed to post anything — it’s always a hot mess. At least Steve is coherent if still heavily biased and self serving.
@audiotroy

when I see a dealer trash a manufacturers product (Furman), my brain says to stay away from that dealer.  Do you have an axe to grind with Furman?
Dave Elledge's P.I. Audio UberBuss is not only the best power conditioner out there but it is extremely fairly priced.

I also changed my outlet receptacles to Dave's Graphene treated, upgraded P&S Hubbel; 5362A UberPuerto receptacles.

To the poster who said a p.c. will not affect audio quality, I say Bunk. It reduces noice and the U.B. can provide unlimited current with a power factor correction of 1.

There are no surge suppressors inside and the outer box is non-metal to avoid Eddy currents.I had a Seimens FS140 whole house surge suppressor installed.

The power cable to your power conditioner is THE most important power cable in your system. I bought a Moneoone Supernova for my UberBuss.
I have a 32A Neutrik connector on the UberBussand Supernova and the Supernova will be plugged into a dedicated 30A line.
A dedicated line if possible 20 amp awg 10 lower resistance ,
and a 4 wire ,dual ground much lower noise , one is common ground ,
the other is a isolated insulated ground which for sure lowers the noise floor
my Audiophile friend is  a master electrician and we tried 3 wire ,then 4
and silver contacts on 20 amp breakers hard to find he had to source them took a month, and order $60 each x2 vs stock Copper $12 each silver breakers much better acoustically  copper needs to be changed after 5-6 years due to pitting oxidation ,silver, silver oxide actually is fine.and a solid Copper gold outlet
The least expensive quality line conditioner, line conditioner
the Audio Quest Niagra 1200 , $995 , at sunny Audio maybe a bit lower
cheaper units use low grade AC sockets AQ great little unit
next nit in their line $2500,
Without getting into my power management situation, I will give some judicious recommendations:
1. Agree if budget allows to put in a dedicated 20amp line direct from the breaker box to your listening room. 2. Agree with premium outlet but with non magnetic outlet covers. Makers of such have been mentioned. I will add Shunyata Research outlets which I have. 3. Power conditioners: IMO optimal one of the PS Audio PowerPlants. They make at least 3 models at different price points. Otherwise, an Audioquest Niagara. Again they have different models at different price points. All of them good. 4. Power cables. There are so many on the market. I personally like and use Shunyata Delta NRs though I have one Delta V2 XC. I am sure Synergistic makes good ones too. I have one or two of them. For more of a budget cable check out the upper end Pangea amp cable. I forget the model number. I bought one to try as it was relatively inexpensive. The attractive feature to it is that is has the thickest gauge conductors of any cable I have seen and gauge is important. So far I like this cable very much and I am trying it on my Raven Blackhawk Mk3. Good luck!
Good point. If you will be in the home a while, and especially if you can DIY, then running one line direct is the best thing you can do within your budget. That was the first thing I did, even before getting a conditioner, and was totally worth it. If you DIY, and depending on how long a run you have, you might even be able to budget a good Synergistic or Furutech AC outlet in there as well.
Consider running a dedicated line, too. That’s not expensive, depending on where your panel/speakers are.

Total cost: $622
Audience Adept Response aR2p power conditioner used, $326
Wiremold UL210BC Power Strip (w/tax, shipping) new, 91.63
Porter Port Audiophile electrical outlet audiogon, new, 44.30
Shunyata Venom Defender AC Line Purifier noise reduction used, 160.50
I would stretch a little, get the Decware, and consider it a long term investment in a high quality component with a lifetime guarantee.

My 2 cents -
I think your power cord budget is good for a solid performing Shunyata Venom HC v1 or v2. Great bargains used.

On the power conditioner if you can go up a little $-wise, try an Isotek EVO3 Polaris. See listing at the Music Direct link below. MD is great to deal with and have a very helpful return policy.

I would live with the Polaris and stock Isotek cord for a while, then try a Venom HC.

I purchased an open box Isotek Aquarius from MD and was surprised by the difference it made in my system (despite 3 dedicated lines). Truly like a component upgrade. Later, replacing the stock Premier power cord with a Venom HC made a significant difference for the better.

Be aware the Isotek conditioners take a C19 plug.

Good luck.

I've been using Shunyata Hydra 8 V2 conditioner with Shunyata Venom Power cords (non high-current). Sounds good to me. Amp goes straight to wall via Venom HC cord.
I have the  Equi=Core 1800 MK2. Typical on sale @ $1395. However they make a 1200 & 600. It depends on system size and power needs.

I researched some, chose this one

It depends on the value. I don’t want to say $200 for a cable if a $270 cable is really worth the extra money or even a $350 cable. For the power conditioner, in the ballpark of $350 would be nice, and the power cable.. anything around $250
