Sorry to hear this. Every Saturday morning I watched and taped Pee Wee and friends; Miss Yvonne, Captain Carl (Phil Hartman), Lawrence Fishburne, Chairry, King of Cartoons, Jambi.

Enjoyed Pee Wee's Big Adventure immensely.

A brilliant artist who was condemned and ostracized for far less than some famous performers who abuse or rape women. He was doing what he was doing in a place where you go to do what he was doing.

What a loss. When I first stumbled upon his show, I wondered why I wasn't subjected to his level of entertainment as a kid, but I did have Bugs Bunny and Soupy Sales. Someone always has to be the one who breaks the ice.

Google his 1991 conviction and his 2002 scandal and plea conviction. The stage, TV, and movie character persona had its real life issues.

Created for the stage, Pee-wee with his white chunky loafers and red bow tie would become a cultural constant in both adult and children’s entertainment for much of the 1980s, though an indecent exposure arrest in 1991 for exposing himself at an adult movie theatre would send the character into entertainment exile for years.

Loved Paul Reubens work.  I guess I first saw him in one of the Cheech and Chong movies.  The TV shows and the movies based on Pee-Wee were all great.

Just heard on the news that he won 22 Emmys. That's quite an achievement.

Playhouse was the best kids show for adults ever. Cowboy Curtis has come a long way. 

He will be missed.  Paul Reubens (aka Pinchas Rubenfeld) was an entertainer with a hero father, who was one of the Israel Air Force's founding members, flying a fighter for the new State of Israel in it's war of independence.

I must be psychic (maybe psychotic?), but I pulled Pee Wee's Big Adventure DVD out of my stack two weeks ago to watch it for the first time in probably 10 years. It still maintained the charming qualities that made it a hit originally, which is not easy to do. I especially enjoyed the scene where Pee Wee goes drag while with the escaped convict in order to get past a police checkpoint. No matter what his personal flaws might have been, he was very talented and had no qualms about the quirkiness of that talent. RIP, Pee Wee.

I always pointed out that he got charged with the wrong thing. He should have been charged with creating a fall hazard. Slippery conditions.
