New Omega E Mat from Perfect Path Technologies

Many of you own or have read of the highly-regarded PPT Omega E Mat, one of Tim Mrock’s revolutionary signal-enhancing accessories. Just prior to his untimely passing, Tim had finished developing a new generation of his Omega mat, soon to be available. Krissy Mrock has asked a few of us to introduce this new mat, here given the working title of The Double Omega.

In distinguishing the Double Omega, we know the original Omega, herein called the single, as a 7.5” by 10”, rather heavy and somewhat pliable mat, a bit more than 1/8” thick and with a vinyl-like feel. One face is glossy white, displaying the PPT logo and Omega name, while the other is black, smooth and magnetized. Sandwiched between these faces is the active material that causes components to reject the EMI that saturates everything in our surroundings. The Double Omega is much the same, with one important difference: the magnetized face has the finely-textured feel of around, say, 220-grit sandpaper. This texture, it is presumed, comprises yet a second active layer of EMI rejection. Presumed—because working details of the Double Omega are not well understood—better yet to know how to apply it.

With the understanding that the single Omega E mats generate field effects from both faces, mats have typically been placed under and over components and vertically over circuit breakers. How you apply the Double Omega will depend on best use and experimentation. In my case, I have removed two single mats, lying side-by-side, from the top of my large Wadia CDP and have replaced those with two Double Omegas. The Wadia is a one-box player that contains a pre-amp, so I wanted that second, strong field effect exerting downward as well as upward. I also have several singles placed underneath, just as before. Going straight to amps, this player is my only source, so I want it fully protected from EMI. Your priorities will differ.

As of this writing, I am only thirty-hours in on placing these Double Omegas, and I can already tell you they are powerful in their prevention of EMI within my digital source. Yet another veil has been lifted—all instruments and voices are even more sorted out in the aural space with new information heard within that space. There is much more decay heard against a new silence behind and between the musicians. I am already so pleased and excited about what the Double Omega E mats are doing. As Krissy told me, Tim was really stoked to have these new mats available. Rather than wait for the the fourteen-day window of improvement, I want to get this intro out so others can relay their experiences sooner.

Let's continue to support and rally around Krissy during her time of incalculable crisis.
I hope for the best.  I talked to her just prior to the end of the year and told her I was going to wait a little bit before buying as I am building a new house.  I was going to buy the Gate, mats, and for sure the paste.  My plan was as the electricians were working I was going to paste all of the electrical boxes.  Unfortunately, I do not have enough to paste what I need.  Ughhh.
None of my business and I am sure there are aspects that Krissy does not wish to make public but there are some disturbing and concerning items here in this whole situation.

Why are the parents even acting in this manner?
I can tell you now if my mother did something similar if I was in a similar situation to Tim, I would return from the grave and haunt her to her own grave! She wouldent I know and that is very confusing here, such compassion on display!

Why did Tim not make provisions for this and ensure Krissy was protected? Once he knew of his illness why did he not complete a will making all of this cast in stone so no future problems upon his passing?

As I said there MUST be a lot of background stuff going one that we are not privy too.
You never see the true color of family until $$$$ are involved! I know from experience.
Many times the true color is beautiful and inviting. This chapter is not done yet and we all know precious little as it should be.
Hey Bill, being upbeat and positive is not well known on this website.  Hope all is going well with you.  I talk about your cables often with potential buyers that are wondering--all good.  I've only heard them at your house though.  Your system sure sounds very good.  Those double ICs should be flying off the wood floor as word is now getting out about the Schroeder Method.  I wish I had been a little slower to try it with Teo GC II's and 4 sets of splitters.  I have 3 sets of doubles going between components.  Oh well...

"I have a feeling when all this gets straightened out, she'll be back bigger and better than ever..."
Not the best choice of words to descibe a lady.
thecarpathian,

"Your last post was just plain cold hearted and unnecessary.
I can’t imagine why anyone would want to be that type of person. How sad for you."
Some weeks ago I suggested that Omega Mats be used to, quite literally, ease the world’s energy problems. Your (plural, maybe not you personally) descriptions about refrigerators and whatever else working better were the source of that thought. The next thing I know, someone said that the inventor actually had some thoughts in that direction. Aligning his thoughts with mine, not with yours. So, yes, if the company is folding and there are no patents to be found, it is a business opportunity on a majestic scale and for the greater good. In fact, the person closest to the inventor could capitalize on it big time, too. If all that had been said so far were true.

Unfortunately, earlier in one of these PPT threads, I was insulted and demeaned for my attempts to emphasize that a swift business plan and action were needed at that moment, if the business were to survive in some form. You all laughed at me. Instead of helping organize listening sessions in targeted locations, etc. you continued feeding each other in a very small forum. Waste of time/resources.

My insistence on patent number, at that time, was exactly to assess/anticipate what might be saved in case the situation like this happens.

And what exactly did you do to help in the long run?

You could not see it coming?
@glupson,
Everything you suggested was brought up well before you arrived on the scene.
All your posts in that direction-actually ALL your posts-read as nothing more than cheap shots and barbs to rile up those participating in these threads.
And now you want to play the misunderstood White Knight. Now you want all to believe your posts were for the greater good of the company. That we’re all too narrow minded and myopic to see the true potential of these products, so you were kind heartedly easing us all in the right direction. Sorry, not buying it. Go back and read your posts and tell me where I’m collectively wrong. The purpose of these threads is to convey our personal experiences with the products. Experiences that branched out beyond audio. It’s not a business analysis thread. I’ve no idea what direction the company was taking its products. Neither do you. If you were so concerned, why did you not personally contact the company and convey your concerns to them, instead of merely helping to feed this "very small forum"? Especially since you could ’see all of this coming’.
So, you tell me. What exactly did you do to help at all?

thecarpathian, or whoever removed my post,

Enjoy your PPT products.

I just noticed another claim (by mrs. ppt) from the beginning of the thread about 20% reduction in electricity cost being a part of the patent.

Unfortunately, the rest of us cannot buy it anymore.

Or verify that the patent exists.

Placement of cut E+ mats is working well,
for me, as single layers.  Use a heavy scissors.

On, under, or in electronics (amplifier transformer).
Rectangular strips across plugs of power conditioner.
Strips inside copper sleeves (plugs and cables).
Strips across the Gate.

Also, Marigo Audio has a supply of Stop Its and one
Gate, for sale.
@sgordon1 , thanks for the tip on Marigo Audio!   I contacted Ron and he had Stop-Its and other PPT products still in stock

I bought 10 stopits, 5 Ecards, and 4 Omega+ mats.

He still has Stop-its, Ecards, a single Gate, and a single original Omega Emat left in stock.

That's a transformative stash of stuff you got there. E-cards are awesome anywhere near a transformer. Some you can even slide the E-card in between the iron and the windings. Did that on my step-down transformer, awesome. My Dayton sub amps are stacked. I set one E-card on top of the bottom sub amp, right over the amps toroidal transformer. So its directly above one, directly below the other. Then when I watch movies I set the Mac on top of the dive weights, move the E-card to the Mac keyboard, and it adds a whole new dimension to the video.
@sgordon & @veroguy  Thank you both for the info. on Marigo audio. I just placed an order for Stop Its, 5 E Cards, 2 E Mat+ and the last Gate. I took the plunge despite the fact this material can't be returned, the 90 day return policy doesn't apply anymore. Maybe this policy only applied to products directly purchased from PPT.

I can't wait to start testing these products. I solely made my decision based on the very favorable comments on the PPT threads of this site. I have high expectations.

Michael
Marigo Audio doesn't have the TC anymore. Would someone know where I could find it?

Michael
Thanks for the tips, Millercarbon - i'll report my findings and results.

Michael_be.  I'm happy my post led to you finding a Gate, and a sale for Ron at Marigo Audio.

Like you, sometimes my system sounds very good - usually late at night, and more often when it's the off-season and my small town in FL is half its winter-time population.   I'm hoping the PPT products can help get closer to that level of SQ on a more consistent basis.

Did you ever rent the Goal Zero power station?

@veroguy...  The Goal Zero will be available at the end of February. Ideally I would  have liked to get the PPT products directly from PPT with the 90 day return policy and do the comparison with the Goal Zero during that period. However the closure of PPT kind of 'forced' me to pull the trigger right away on the few PPT parts that are still available, even without the return possibility.

Neverthe less I will do that comparison testing with the Goal Zero and report my findings.

Michael
Ron at Marigo Audio also makes some of the world's finest vibration control devices (shelves and footers).
I removed two of the Plus mats from my breaker and placed one on my conditioner and the other on my amp. Much, much better resulting sound. The breaker box location caused a bit of edge/hardness in the highs. The sound is much better now.  I was told to do this by another mat owner who experienced this same reality. Breaker box location just tipped the level of highs over the top and my system’s smoothness level suffered.

In fact 4 of us mat owners have all heard the same sonic results when we pulled them out of the breaker box.  Owners please try it and see.  It will take about an hour to start hearing the impact. Just worth trying guys.  Just place the mats elsewhere and compare.
Grannyring
I only have one mat left in my breaker box anyway.
Would you suggest leaving the one?
MI suggest to remove, put elsewhere and decide for yourself. Give it an hour. The impact in my system and several others was obvious. I never noticed it before as I have tried this before. I have new gear now and removing the mats from the breaker was revelatory. Nothing short of that. These mats are powerful, no doubt. On my conditioner and amp instead of the breaker is a huge step forward in musicality. System dependent, so if any mat owners made system changes, then please look into this change.
Grannyring.
Just trying to clarify.
Do you have ANY mats left at the breaker location at all?
Interesting.

grannyring ... Is your new equipment tube or solid-state? How about the rest of you who have found an improvement by removing the mats from the circuit breaker box? Are you using tubes or solid-state?

Frank
Hi grannyring: I'm curious. Do you have the "Gate" installed at or near your breaker box?
No Gate..  No mats in breaker.  All solid state system, not one tube to be found.

Very interesting indeed.
However with having The Gate in my box I actually have NO power conditioner of any sort at all as I found it had a negative effect ( Equi-Core 1800 ).
So I already have mats under and above my integrated, my tape deck, my cd player, my streamer.

Maybe I will remove from the breaker box just to see what effect if any but not sure where I would then put that lone ranger mat... lol
Last night, I read grannyring’s post and decided to give his suggestion a try. I had 4 plus mats, and two originals, on my power panel. I moved the pluses to my system (leaving the originals on the panel). I put two under my CPT Equi=Core 300 balanced power conditioner, and one on top of each speaker (along with two original mats already there).

So far, my listening confirms grannyring’s findings; smoother highs, and even more musical. Very nice! I have a tube DAC and amp (pre is passive).
uberwaltz,

Interesting, I tried taking out my Equi=Core 300, but preferred the sound with it.
Having the 1800 inline appeared to kill the highs a little, sort of stifled the music.
At the time Tim suggested I just remove it and see how it sounded and I preferred it.
All my system power now goes through a simple 10 socket power strip that has a home made power cord to it fed directly from my SR Blue duplex. The power strip even has a mat under it.
Later today I will pull the sole mat from the breaker box just to see.
With each additional mat that was placed in both the main panel and the sub-panel, the sound improved. I'm not taking them out. The system at this point is just right. It is seamless from top to bottom and to my ear, very transparent, three dimensional, and tonally correct.

I wish some of you guys lived closer so that you could take a listen.

Frank
Did anyone have negative effects when using the mats under tube amps or integrated amps?

That WAS true for me also. It changed with time and/or gear changes. Not sure which factor, time or gear change, caused this sonic reality. I will continue testing however so I can better understand. This is real and mat owners should be open minded enough to try. Use the same open mindedness we expect from others not believing in fuses etc... You will never really know for yourself until you actually try. My system sounded good, many say great, but improved when I removed all mats from the breaker and placed them elsewhere. You decide if you care to be open minded enough test your assumptions and perceived reality.
I had zero effect with the mats placed in the breaker box or anywhere in my system. Saved myself some $$$
They have huge impact in my experience. It can easily be heard in my system.
I wonder if the mere fact of moving the mats has some sort of affect? Might our ears/brains adjust to the sound of our systems over time and by changing things up with the mats our ears/brains are presented with something new? Just wondering out loud.
Please keep the observations coming, this is interesting.
I wonder if the mere fact of moving the mats has some sort of affect?

Well, yes, that is the point. They have no effect sitting in inventory. When you buy and move them to your system they have some sort of effect. An effect that has been described at length.
Might our ears/brains adjust to the sound of our systems over time and by changing things up with the mats our ears/brains are presented with something new?

You're asking if our brains are capable of learning. They are. Well some of them anyway. But mine thinks you're begging the question. It thinks what you mean is something along the lines of this could all be some Jedi mind trick. These are not the Mats you're looking for.

What do you think?
I just told you what I think.
Just wondering out loud.

Yes well even idle speculation can be done well. Keep at it. Like learning to become a better listener, you can learn to become a better, uh, wonderer.
I removed the 3 mats I had on my Breaker Box and my system is without question, smoother and warmer. Try it, you might like it.
Interesting reversal of fortune. I would have thought the breaker box was a slam dunk. The users sure made it sound that way.
It did sound better, but that has changed.  Both are true at the same time. Why? No idea. I changed my gear so perhaps system synergy is at play. Perhaps time, many months, plays a role?
I posted this months ago (regarding brightness with mats and breaker box)...but I am not one of the reputable users here, so I was ignored, told that maybe some circuit breakers boxes are not all created equal lol. Now, that might be true, but I know what I am hearing. It won’t cost you anything to try.
I'm going to remain closed-minded and keep my circuit breaker box closed as well. :-)
