grannyring ... Is your new equipment tube or solid-state? How about the rest of you who have found an improvement by removing the mats from the circuit breaker box? Are you using tubes or solid-state?

New Omega E Mat from Perfect Path Technologies
Many of you own or have read of the highly-regarded PPT Omega E Mat, one of Tim Mrock’s revolutionary signal-enhancing accessories. Just prior to his untimely passing, Tim had finished developing a new generation of his Omega mat, soon to be available. Krissy Mrock has asked a few of us to introduce this new mat, here given the working title of The Double Omega.
In distinguishing the Double Omega, we know the original Omega, herein called the single, as a 7.5” by 10”, rather heavy and somewhat pliable mat, a bit more than 1/8” thick and with a vinyl-like feel. One face is glossy white, displaying the PPT logo and Omega name, while the other is black, smooth and magnetized. Sandwiched between these faces is the active material that causes components to reject the EMI that saturates everything in our surroundings. The Double Omega is much the same, with one important difference: the magnetized face has the finely-textured feel of around, say, 220-grit sandpaper. This texture, it is presumed, comprises yet a second active layer of EMI rejection. Presumed—because working details of the Double Omega are not well understood—better yet to know how to apply it.
With the understanding that the single Omega E mats generate field effects from both faces, mats have typically been placed under and over components and vertically over circuit breakers. How you apply the Double Omega will depend on best use and experimentation. In my case, I have removed two single mats, lying side-by-side, from the top of my large Wadia CDP and have replaced those with two Double Omegas. The Wadia is a one-box player that contains a pre-amp, so I wanted that second, strong field effect exerting downward as well as upward. I also have several singles placed underneath, just as before. Going straight to amps, this player is my only source, so I want it fully protected from EMI. Your priorities will differ.
As of this writing, I am only thirty-hours in on placing these Double Omegas, and I can already tell you they are powerful in their prevention of EMI within my digital source. Yet another veil has been lifted—all instruments and voices are even more sorted out in the aural space with new information heard within that space. There is much more decay heard against a new silence behind and between the musicians. I am already so pleased and excited about what the Double Omega E mats are doing. As Krissy told me, Tim was really stoked to have these new mats available. Rather than wait for the the fourteen-day window of improvement, I want to get this intro out so others can relay their experiences sooner.
Thank you, grannyring. Yep, the sound here is spectacular. There is no "dulling" of high frequencies at all. I'm not doubting your results in removing the mats from the panel in the least. If it works for you, then great. I'm happy for you. After all, that's what this forum is for ... helping each other get the most out of our musical obsession, right? Frank |
With each additional mat that was placed in both the main panel and the sub-panel, the sound improved. I'm not taking them out. The system at this point is just right. It is seamless from top to bottom and to my ear, very transparent, three dimensional, and tonally correct. I wish some of you guys lived closer so that you could take a listen. Frank |
lemonhaze ... Something isn't right. Just out of curiosity, do you have any tweaks in the system that involve magnets? Frank |
I received two of the Omega-Plus E-Mats in the mail today. Due to back pain, I spent the day vegging out in front of the 73" Mitsubishi TV watching taped football games from last weekend. The stereo system wasn't turned on at all. After taking the new mats out of their packaging, I placed them on top of the "Direct TV" satellite box that sits on one of the shelves of the TV stand. I had to adjust the color temperature of the TV immediately after installing the mats. The reds were too pronounced. After the color adjustments were made, the picture was clearer than ever before. Blacks were blacker and flesh tones were far more accurate. I really liked the results. Tomorrow, back allowing, I'm going to try placing the new mats inside the circuit breaker box and see what the effects are on the music system and the TV from that location. I have high hopes ... Stay tuned ... Frank PS: The onions froze in the vegetable drawer again, so another temperature adjustment is due there as well. And one more thing ... since installing The Gate and other PPT products, I'm getting the lowest electric bills since I move in here over 24 years ago. Amazing. Simply amazing. |
^^^ My electric bill has gone down considerably over the last four months. The highest was January 2019 at $136.26. The Gate was installed in April 2019 and the bills have steadily declined ever since. The 73" TV is on from the time I get up, till the time I go to bed. I listen to music almost every night, and occasionally during the day. I don't use air conditioning, I use fans. And the insulation in my place sucks big time. *lol* Frank |
I moved the two new Omega + E-Mats into the circuit breaker box yesterday afternoon. Had a listening session last night and again this morning. All I can say is ... this is just freakin' nutz! Just when you think all of the grunge has been wrung from the system, something new shows up to prove you wrong. Such purity. Such musicality. Just great. Highly recommended. Frank |
The new Omega + E-Mat is no joke. Two in the circuit breaker box has a similar effect as The Gate. Not as much, but very effective indeed. Last night's listening session was totally amazing. Here's a music recommendation. Its a compilation of various jazz cuts. It sounded spectacular last night ... https://www.ebay.com/itm/Various-Artists-Jazz-for-a-Rainy-Afternoon-CD/191621509948?epid=3268463&hash=item2c9d88333c:g:tacAAOSwH4tdnb1X Cut ten ... Vibes, guitar, bass, drums ... in the room. The CD is worth the price of admission just for this one cut. The entire CD is really good. Frank |
There must be an art to posting contrary positions without getting your posts deleted. There are no "colorations" infused by the PPT products. They actually remove colorations caused by polluted AC coming through the house (The Gate) and into and through the electronics. It is pretty amazing to hear what is actually on the recordings once the grunge has been removed. Frank |
viber6 ... Thanks for the well-thought-out post. You’re correct in my case. Except for the CD player, all of my electronics were made by Audio Research Corp. The ARC gear in the system are known for neutrality and not for the lush tube sound of old. With the PPT products, I have not experienced any roll-off of the highs. In fact, the highs are extended in a natural way. I have noticed that some of the products will cause a degradation in the SQ temporarily. This is mainly noticed with PPT’s "Total Contact." The paste has to dry and that takes a few days. Once dried, the SQ comes back even better than before. When I first got the twenty "Stop-Its" installed throughout the house, I lost the mid-bass and a lot of the lower bass. I talked with Tim Mrock about it, and he said the ones I got were the very first ones and they weren’t cured (dried) yet. Well, that took about a week for things to clear up. Once dried, the "Stop-Its" improved the sound to a new level. Again, no roll-off of the highs. There is no softening of the sound. No roll-offs on the highs. And on the bass notes .. the system goes deeper, with more definition to the bass. Acoustic stand-up bass sounds as close to real as I’ve ever heard in an audio system. One of my grandsons is a concert level bassoonist. I’ve heard him play live many times. When I play his private recordings, the tonality is right on. On harsh CD’s ... well, the old adage that you can’t make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear still stands here. Strident strings still sound strident. Aged voices still sound aged. Bad recordings still sound like bad recordings. As a trained violinist, you will appreciate these products perhaps more than most. Nothing like a trained ear to recognize accuracy, that’s for sure. If you lived nearby, I’d love to play some Milstein or Heifetz for you. Oh, and I have some Ricci recordings you’d love too. Take care ... Frank |
ricevs ... Thanks for the kind words. The only thing that's changed over the time that Mas has been coming over has been with the PPT products and the SR Orange fuses. Mas has been along for most of the journey. I had used some "Total Contact" paste on all of the connections, and in a few other places, before we first met and that's about it. So, over time, Mas has heard the effects, incrementally, as each new PPT product was introduced to the system. I can hardly wait for Mas to come over for another listening session to hear what the two new Omega + E-Mats that I put into the circuit breaker box is doing. Frank |
jay23 ... Let's see if I understand what you are saying ... Are you saying that a flat transfer from a master tape to a CD without any added artificial digital reverb is a "coloration?" Or are you saying that 'these products" remove natural reverb and highs? Please clarify ... Thanks, Frank |
aolmrd1241 ...
"Shungite and crystal-based products?" No, these are not anywhere in the products that I’m aware of. I’m not familiar with "shungite" ... but I can say that Tim never mentioned either of these materials in our conversations. He did tell me that the materials he uses are expensive and the best available. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- During last night’s listening session, it occurred to me that by the judicious use of these products, and other tweaks performed to the system, I am no longer evaluating "sound." I’m simply enjoying the performance unfolding before me. I believe that should be the ultimate goal in this hobby ... enjoying the performance, instead of worrying about how things sound. I put on an excellent Japanese pressing of a CD of flamenco music. The foot-stomps were on a wooden stage about three feet high and just beyond the speakers. How does one describe the correct tonality of boots hitting wood? *lol* Hand-claps, castanets, voices and guitars were so "there" I felt as though I could reach out and touch them. The new mats have allowed this to happen in spades. Frank |
viber6 ... I have two recordings of the Los Angeles Phil. playing Rachmaninoff's second and third piano concertos. They are private recordings, never released commercially. It was a competition among young, talented pianists. The two discs are recordings of the winner's performance. On both discs, the audio engineer recorded the orchestra tuning up. Very enjoyable listening just to those segments. The recordings are two of my favorites in the collection. Frank |
Jay ... Do you live in the greater Los Angeles area? If so, I'd like to invite you over for a listening session. I think you'd have a different assessment on my hearing after that. Are you game?
Name them and the recordings, please. I'd like to check out your talent as a recording engineer. Frank |
The two new Omega + E-Mats in the circuit breaker box continue the break-in process, sounding better with each passing day. I was just listening to Sammy Davis Jr. with Laurindo Almeida (Guitar) on the DCC reissued CD. Just unbelievable. https://www.ebay.com/itm/SAMMY-DAVIS-JR-Sings-LAURINDO-ALMEIDA-Plays-1991-DCC-DZS-055-FACTORY-SEALED-CD/264449199691?epid=1624550085&hash=item3d92668e4b:g:7~oAAOSwkpxdavGN This one is expensive, but the LP sounds terrific and so does the standard CD. Frank |
lpretiring ... The two Omega + mats that I recently put into the circuit breaker box had a very profound effect, much more than four of the regular mats. The effect was akin to installing a Gate. Not as powerful, but similar in effect. Frank |
lpretiring ... There was no dissipation from removing the old mats ... they stayed inside the circuit breaker box. The four mats you alluded to had been placed inside of the door right up against the circuit breaker switches. I took the four existing mats out, then placed the two new Omega + mats in. The four mats that were previously inside the door, were placed up against the outside of the door leading to the switches. I was already warming up the system as I reconfigured the mats, so there was no "waiting period." I heard the effects immediately ... and was floored by the results. Over the six days that the mats have been in the system, they have continued to improve with each listening session. I have no idea what Krissy did with these new mats to allow them to do what they do, but they are the real deal for sure. Frank |
Slaw ... I have them resting right against the switches. They fit perfectly inside of the door that leads to the switches. I just put them in there and closed the door. Once they are put in place, leave them alone. They will continually improve over two-three weeks. By the way ... I'm really looking forward to the results you attain. Please report back. Thanks ... Frank |
slaw ...
Well said, slaw. And to me ... it is what the hobby is all about. The system has to serve the music. The more veils that are lifted, the closer we get to the music. What's so interesting to me is how, with certain tweaks, like with upgraded fuses, tube dampeners, PPT products like Omega + E -Mats, Alpha Cards, Total Contact, Stop-Its, and ultimately, The Gate, we can finally forget about "sound," and just enjoy the performances unfolding in front of us. Quite honestly, it has to be heard to be believed. Frank |
slaw ...
No, only what others have told me, and through conversations I had with Tim Mrock. Frank |
darrellczay ...
I can't answer the question because I've never used any HF products. However, I think there are others posting here who can help you. Maybe they will chime in. Frank |
tommylion ... Same here, tommylion. I was just listening to some of Arthur Lyman’s exotica music. Good grief! Simply amazing. Lovin’ the new "Plus" E-Mats. The real deal. And by the way ... they are going to continue to improve over the next week or so. Frank |
rsf507 ... Just out of curiosity, do you by any chance have any noise reduction devices in your system that uses magnets? Frank |
viber6 ... Nothing is rounded off. All of the detail remains in place, plus more. There is a more relaxed presentation to the music and a richer tone quality. The three-dimensional image is much improved. You can see more into the performance, which will have more separation between musicians and vocalists. Now, this may sound like the description of euphonic tubes doing their thing, but it is not. It is more like the rich organic sound of real musical instruments playing for you instead of a thinner HiFi artificial plastic sound that was there before. Everything just sounds more real. Once you have the E-Mats in place, leave them there. They improve with a little time on them. Frank |
I have Alpha-Cards on/in: 1. Between the back of the Android phone and the phone case. 2. On top of, and on the sides of, the turntable motor. 3. On the sides of the CD player. (the magnetic cards) 4. On speaker cables and ICs and PCs. 5. On the sides of the power conditioner. 6. Between the outlet receptacles and the wall. 7. On top of, and on the sides of the desktop PC. 8. On the sides of the DVD player on the TV system. 9. On the sides of the satellite box and the DVR for the TV. 10. On top of the secondary circuit breaker box in the bedroom. Look at them as if they are small Omega E-Mats. Put them where a full-size mat won't fit. Each card is about 10% as powerful as a full-size mat. Frank |
jafreeman ... Glad you're enjoying the recordings. I listened to that Arthur Lyman CD last night for the first time since installing the two Omega "Plus" mats into the circuit breaker box. It was like hearing it for the first time. The percussion instruments were right there. Unbelievably good. Frank |
jetter ... Quite honestly, I have no idea. I'm just relating what others have said. I don't use any plug-in devices myself. Frank |
glupson ... Okay, admittedly some of my posts, perhaps many, would seem to have been over the top to the uninitiated. I understand that. No big deal for me. I just got off the phone with another A’goner who has the whole PPT kibosh ... The Gate, TC, Mats, Stop-Its, etc. We were discussing the effects that the new Omega *Plus* mats have, and the benefits they bring to the system over the original Omega mats. We both agreed on the same things. The Omega *Plus* mats bring a fuller, more organic sound to the instruments. It is hard to describe, because one wants to use terms like tubes vs solid-state, digital vs vinyl, but that really isn’t it either. Everything seems fuller in the presentation and a lot more natural, like you’re listening to instruments that are real. I’m including vocals in this too. I want to say that its a "warmer" sound, but that’s not it. That suggests a coloration .. and these mats do not color the sound. Even though there’s more detail and everything is faster, there is no longer a thought about those HiFi terms. I’ve said it before, with the use of these products, and then with the addition of the new mats, it really is like a real musical performance unfolding before you. The clarity is amazing. It is truly surprising how much grunge we have been feeding our electronics through dirty AC lines. You don’t know it is there until it is gone. With a 90-day return policy, what do you have to lose? Give it a try. Frank PS: This is not an ad. :-) |
glupson ... Call me an enthusiastic writer who is conservative in his assessments. If I really told everyone how good these things are, nobody would believe me. Frank |
