New Omega E Mat from Perfect Path Technologies
Many of you own or have read of the highly-regarded PPT Omega E Mat, one of Tim Mrock’s revolutionary signal-enhancing accessories. Just prior to his untimely passing, Tim had finished developing a new generation of his Omega mat, soon to be available. Krissy Mrock has asked a few of us to introduce this new mat, here given the working title of The Double Omega.
In distinguishing the Double Omega, we know the original Omega, herein called the single, as a 7.5” by 10”, rather heavy and somewhat pliable mat, a bit more than 1/8” thick and with a vinyl-like feel. One face is glossy white, displaying the PPT logo and Omega name, while the other is black, smooth and magnetized. Sandwiched between these faces is the active material that causes components to reject the EMI that saturates everything in our surroundings. The Double Omega is much the same, with one important difference: the magnetized face has the finely-textured feel of around, say, 220-grit sandpaper. This texture, it is presumed, comprises yet a second active layer of EMI rejection. Presumed—because working details of the Double Omega are not well understood—better yet to know how to apply it.
With the understanding that the single Omega E mats generate field effects from both faces, mats have typically been placed under and over components and vertically over circuit breakers. How you apply the Double Omega will depend on best use and experimentation. In my case, I have removed two single mats, lying side-by-side, from the top of my large Wadia CDP and have replaced those with two Double Omegas. The Wadia is a one-box player that contains a pre-amp, so I wanted that second, strong field effect exerting downward as well as upward. I also have several singles placed underneath, just as before. Going straight to amps, this player is my only source, so I want it fully protected from EMI. Your priorities will differ.
As of this writing, I am only thirty-hours in on placing these Double Omegas, and I can already tell you they are powerful in their prevention of EMI within my digital source. Yet another veil has been lifted—all instruments and voices are even more sorted out in the aural space with new information heard within that space. There is much more decay heard against a new silence behind and between the musicians. I am already so pleased and excited about what the Double Omega E mats are doing. As Krissy told me, Tim was really stoked to have these new mats available. Rather than wait for the the fourteen-day window of improvement, I want to get this intro out so others can relay their experiences sooner.

Very interesting indeed. However with having The Gate in my box I actually have NO power conditioner of any sort at all as I found it had a negative effect ( Equi-Core 1800 ). So I already have mats under and above my integrated, my tape deck, my cd player, my streamer. Maybe I will remove from the breaker box just to see what effect if any but not sure where I would then put that lone ranger mat... lol |
Having the 1800 inline appeared to kill the highs a little, sort of stifled the music. At the time Tim suggested I just remove it and see how it sounded and I preferred it. All my system power now goes through a simple 10 socket power strip that has a home made power cord to it fed directly from my SR Blue duplex. The power strip even has a mat under it. Later today I will pull the sole mat from the breaker box just to see. |
This has been repeated a number of times, based on the following it does not make sense to me, unless the thermostats on all your 'fridges are broken:I would have absolutely agreed on this score myself as it just cannot seem possible but...... My sodas ( diet guys!) all froze two days after The Gate was added to my main breaker panel with NO other changes made. Even the better half said it was colder in the fridge and could I turn it up. I went from a setpoint of 37 to 39 on the fridge to stop soda freezing in the bottle. No I cannot explain it and tbh to not truly care why or how it does this. Obviously this is not all that The Gate does and I can see it being possible that just the Mats might have a similar effect. |
Well I just found another great location for a full mat. my microrendu bridge crapped out yesterday so I had to move my laptop which was upstairs and runs Roon core over the network down into my music room and feed my dac direct from it via usb. Well laptops standard are not renowned for their “ musical “ usb output and this was no exception. Even hires Qobuz files sounded flat and uninvolved. So this morning I slipped a mat under the laptop and over the past couple hours it’s really starting to sing. A return of dynamics even on Redbook streaming with body and soul and toe tapping goodness. I know, such technical terms...... Its likely made the i5 processor in it thnk its an i7.... lol |
Frank You have to be codding me on those bills...... My lowest bill EVER here in Florida is about $180 in early spring or late Fall when I need neither the AC or heating. admit it is a 2500 sq ft house with a pool and hot tub but still.... oh and no i do not need a new roof and insulation, got that start of the year. Last months bill was $334......... |
Tweak1 North East Florida. House built 1987, I would wager your 1959 house was actually of better construction. At the mercy of Clay Electric which is a misnomer as they have no mercy! One of the most expensive utilities in Florida unfortunately. I did forget to add that we have a second granny house on the property that is tied into the main electric bill so more like our bill is 1.75 houses pushing 3500 sq ft total. |
Well I decided to stick with one plus mat in the breaker box( mine is a very old smaller box and one mat only leaves about 6 breakers not covered so works for me) and one plus on top of my integrated amp. The older original I removed from the breaker box is now under my Nakamichi ZX-7 cassette deck as it gets a LOT of playtime. Various other ecards scattered around under cd player, phono stage, SUT, R2R etc. All stopits in the wall sockets, likely need to buy about 10 more. I sat down last night after the family movie of Ant Man and The Wasp for a serious listening session. I played Two Against Nature by Steely Dan on cassette, ANYBODY who thinks this medium cannot do HIFI needs to come over for a listening session to this tape on my rig. It was simply electric, best way I know to describe it, so alive and full of energy. It kept me rivetted until it was time to flip the tape over and do it all over again. Hard to truly put into words the new effect but it is not subtle imho. |
Thx Jafreeman! Just started another listening session as been out all day enjoying the most gorgeous 73 degree day here in NE Florida today. Playing a tape I know well and the drums nearly knocked me out of my seat! Great stuff indeed. Hard to tell which is the largest contributer as I added the two plus mats and the stop it's all at the same time. |

I have one Plus mat now on the inside of the breaker box door, there is not room in my very old box for 2 mats. I have another Plus mat on top of my Ayre EX8 amp. I have an original mat under my Nakamichi ZX7 cassette deck. Numerous ecards under smaller items, like phono stage, SUT, power block etc. You are going to like what they bring to the table Slaw! I know I'm still early on... just want to express what i'm hearing/feeling....Exactly one thing I have always tried to convey on any of the PPT products I have added. It just gives "more". Sometimes that has been the only way I have known how to describe the effects and changes. |
As I have said many times in the past I find it hard to truly describe the effects but have settled on just one description. It's just " more" . More of everything that was very good to begin with. My CD player is now sulking in the corner though as analog playback is just so pleasurable right now I am flipping albums or tapes all day/ night long. Oh listening sessions can be HOURS long as there is just no grain or etch or hardness to fatigue me. Just old age and falling asleep causes game over nowadays.... |

The same few people keep posting over the top endorsements and urging people to buy these products and it’s been going on for a long time now.I truly do not believe I have ever "urged" anybody to buy anything here, they are all grown adults ( I hope!) and can make up their own mind on how to relieve themselves of their disposable income. My prior post to Glupson was just to point out that his constant speculation on these mats could be ended in a heartbeat. But no alas, he has taken the easy road out with even for him a pretty poor excuse for not doing so. keep on walking Glupson……. |
Glupson. Nobody is preventing anyone from asking questions about this or any PPT products. Not sure where you get that from. The only reason people get shut down is when being pig headed stupid stubborn without any reason. If you had tried any of the PPT products and you then brought your opinions and views here that would be an entirely different matter. Just to keep coming here with openly negative and antagonist posts is the sign of either a troll or someone with even less of a life than others here. Now bring something useful and beneficial to this thread and you may find a different reception indeed. |

Not ONCE have you EVER seen me post over hyped accolades on ANY product here. I just report the results as I have seen and heard them. Pity you can’t say the same now..... Have been asked to return to this thread. My apologies to Glupson for my unseeming behavior. However he does need to get out a bit more and read some more threads. I for one ,along with Frank, Ozzy ,BDP24 just to name a few, have more than once reported on tweaks that did not perform as hoped for. Now that goes NOT mean they do not work period, just that they did not work for us at that time in our present system configuration. I still firmly believe that it is all about system synergy. What may be reported to work well for one may very well underperform for someone else. That does not mean it is a bad product or does not work. I for one have returned solid copper core speaker cables for a full refund as they just bloated the bass to horrible extremes in my rig. Others report good things about them. If it appears that PPT products have a near universal success rate then it is what it is. A great product by a great designer sadly no longer with us. |
Glupson. I am not sure I have actually ever seen the verbiage " no questions allowed" myself, but I do not read every post. I would have said it was more akin to " ask whatever you like but do not be offended if you do not get your answer" Tbh, I never cared how or why, science cannot explain a LOT of stuff no matter what some would try and have you believe. The acid test was and always will be for myself.... What does it sound like? And life is good! |
There are more threads than this one on the mats and ecards and prior to Tims very untimely passing it has been stated that RFI shielding is NOT the action of these items. Neither is any form of magnetic effect. I would have to dig through many previous posts on other threads which I cannot be bothered to do but this is old news people. |
Just throwing this out there which I know will have the skeptics amongst you attempting their best impression of the lead singer of Bad Manners! I read a few posts by members back for the original mat that claimed that it made the fridge so efficient they had frozen items in the normal section. I sort of scoffed at this claim as I never encountered that at all. Well strike me down! After replacing original mat with the plus mat at the breaker box what did I find? Thursday day I had ready made ice cubes in my OJ, Thursday evening I had ice in my full fat milk! Maybe my fridge was not as efficient as other members to start with and needed a kick in the pants by a supercharged mat! So there is that...... |
Carp I honestly thought it was a bit over the top when I read reports of freezing from other members and sort of dismissed it as over enthusiasm. But with the plus mat I was shocked to actually have it happen. If ANYONE here thinks I would waste my time making stuff up, well they do not know me one jot!. Contrary to popular belief I do have a life. 😂😂😂 |

I have no desire to denigrate Glupson but he truly is a lost cause Frank. We all know by now he has no intention of ever trying any PPT products because he might then have to eat some large slices of Humble Pie. Now by his own admittance he also really has no interest in whether or not they work. He only wanted to tell everyone how poor a job of advertising they were doing and present a much better global corporate architecture for PPT to follow. Not criticising that but not sure as that is of any concerns bar PPT themselves. |

I will have to agree with Frank on the " better at night" being negated by "The Gate". However must also conceed Geoff’s point that we are not truly discussing"The Gate" in this particular thread. But would be interested in hearing from any PPT users who have everything else bar The Gate to see if night listening is still better or if the gap has been closed. |
