Favorite guitar players not named......

We all know there names Hendrix, Page, Clapton, Beck Stevie Ray. But who are your favorite guitar players that are not house hold names? Here are a few of mine not in any order.

Robert Fripp
Martin Barre
Richard Thompson
Roy Buchnan
Rory Gallagher
Mason Ruffner
Neil Young and Lindsey Buckingham know but not so much for the guitar work.
also Dave Alvin and Alvin Lee

I've got a couple of Santana CD's but I really prefer acoustic guitar.  Are any of the above named guitarists acoustic players?  I've found solo guitarists but I'd really like to find some acoustic guitarists that play with other instrumentalists.  Recommendations?
Duke Robillard

If  you like Blues this one is great , especially track 7 where Duke imitates most of the great Blues Guitarists

Good Listening

Good call on Glenn Campbell. I never knew how good he was until recently.
I saw a Jimmy Webb concert and he played a video of Glenn doing MacArthur Park. Check it out at about the 4:30 mark. His health is already affecting his voice in this one; but I can't tell by his playing:

Some very good picks have been mentioned here!
I would like to include Roy Clark,Mick Ronson,Steve Winwood,Doc Watson,Charlie Christan,John Frusciante,Tommy Emmanuel
Wow! You guys know your guitarists. No one mentioned my favorite artist of all: MASON WILLIAMS. No one here will surely care for him over all. That's an odd fact for a man who wrote Classical Gas; the most played instrumental piece ever.  I've been collecting his work for 40 years now. Joe
Classical:  Oscar Ghiglia, Eliot FIsk, Jorge Caballero

Other:  Adrian Legg, Leo Kottke, Eldon Shamblin, Oz Noy

John Abercrombie

I just recently became aware of him via The Plot record by Enrico Rava. I look forward to getting into his discography. His style is kinda of an airy, kinda trippy, minimalist jazzy otherworldly deal but still swings. At last it is on the above session for the ECM label.

Definitely agree with so many of those names that have lit up the ears over the years...  I'll admit I am a little surprised that I'd get to add Will Ackerman and an all-time fav, David Lindley, to that list - both are just exceptional.
As much as I dislike his voice, John Mayer knows his way around a git-box. Elvis could play well (see his '68 come back video). Kenny Wayne Shepard knows how to "do it". Cincinnati's Josh Cole has the right kind of soul...
Love the call on Bert Jansch, so I'll add his Pentangle band mate John Renbourn.  Jansch was the more influential player, but Renbourn is a miracle of nuance.

All the Fleetwood Mac alum (Peter Green, Danny Kirwan, Dave Mason, Rick Vito and especially Lindsey Buckingham).

David Hidalgo from Los Lobos.

Tommy Emanuel, tho I wish he'd play more interesting material.

Danny Gatton

etc.
