Converting stereo single ended to balanced mono? I’m not sure if there might be some grounding issues. The source has a three prong plug, the two equalizers each have a two prong plug, amplification has 3 prong plug(s).
Converting stereo single ended to balanced mono? Considering that the input would already have one inverted signal, I was wondering if just using one XLR with the the ground of two RCAs tied to one pin and just a positive leg running to one RCA and the negative running to a second RCA, and then...
Thiel Owners @jon_5912, I’m glad you’re enjoying your CS 3.7’s. Good news!; I’m confident you'll appreciate them even more with a better source: https://www.noteburner.com/youtube-music-tips/youtube-music-audio-quality.html#:~:text=To%20put%20it%20simply,%20i...
Would McIntosh Auto Transformers affect speaker sound? I can't imagine any good reason for using an autoformer in modern high quality solid state amplification.

Cool feature on Pass X260.8 Mono Amps Now which one is accurately metering?
Ohm Speakers Status Update Not everyone agrees that the newer models are better or even as good as the original Ohm’s with true bending wave Walsh drivers.
Thiel Owners @duramax747, I look forward to more, especially images. That you were using CS 5i’s is of special interest, as I’ve been a long time admirer of that particular model.
Hunting for an integrated for thiels cs 2.3. Anthem, Hegel, Bel Canto? Few integrates qualify. You should consider a minimum of 400 Watts into 2 Ohms, and double that would probably be preferable. Claims of “stability into X Ohms” don’t count.
Thiel Owners @Duramax747, That's quite a collection you have there! I look forward to more specifics regarding your room treatments that you'd care to share.
Watts! How many do we need? My advice, take it or leave it: is to note what the speaker manufacturer recommends as a minimum power recommendation into the 8 Ohm load of the speaker, then note what the minimum (not nominal) impedance is, then double down the recommended powe...
Watts! How many do we need? @jfmusic, I’d often seen stereo amps displaying wildly different readings when fed mono signals. While it’s very true that the fault could lobe elsewhere, it’s doubt it is not more often than not that the meters are at fault. When queried about th...
Watts! How many do we need? The meters found on most amps are very rarely calibrated, and more often mislead rather inform.
Do you belong more to souce first or to speakers first school of thought ? +1 @jpwarren58
Tube Amp recommendation for Thiel CS1.6 under $2k I agree with @soix . Tube power is not likely to be the best choice for money spent on these speakers. Those power reccomendations are for standard 8 Ohm power ratings with the assumption that the amps can double down with impedance. As a bare min... |
