Best streaming move I made was moving Roon Core of an iMAC and onto a SGC ST.
Computer updated and now Roon is blocked
My windows 10 laptop updated by Microsoft and now I can't get Roon past the initial icon for Roon. I tried a few "allow" setting on my computer and they both are set on allow private and public. I don't where to look next. The community board on Roon was no help, so I decided to ask here. Thx

@jeffex00 Glad it worked out. I also notice a trend in community forums as a replacement for support in a number of software solutions I interact with professionally. |
Hi, Well I took CD84 suggestions. Everywhere I checked, all was good. When I had uninstalled the program originally I was reluctant to delete a folder called " setting and data". I bit the bullet and using Revo I deleted everything. I then reinstalled Roon and now most everything is working properly. Interesting enough, Qobuz, saves the artists and the albums for each artist I've chosen, but doesn't save my playlists. Well, my next goal will hopefully to resurrect my playlist from the copy of the folder Revo was supposed to have create before everything was wiped. I want to thank the members for all their help. Especially CD84 and noromance. I do want call out Roon's lack of support and it's reliance on the "community" to help customers resolve computer issues with their product. If I can find a better product that includes better customer support, I'd be will try it and drop Roon. J |
jeffex00, You may have some corrupt operating system files. Open command prompt (as an admin) and run the command sfc /scannow. From the task bar > type here to search > enter cmd > open command prompt as admin. If the results show integrity violations, run it again. You may have to run it several times. More about this feature are here. If you followed all these steps and the issue is still unresolved, following the Roon recommend fixes posted by noromance would be a good idea. Hope this helps. |
1.Can you be more specific about what occurs when you launch Roon? Is there an error? What**does** happen and exactly when does it stop? 2. Just for fun i booted full roon (not running as a core tho) on my Lenovo Windows 10 machine with latest updates. Worked fine. I normally run ROCK and have my clients on phones and Macs. G |
@gdnrbob I use CC or crap cleaner regularly. The free version is really all you need. |
I would also try using a program called CCleaner, to wipe out any previous programs. If Windows upgraded, then there should be a restore point that you could revert the PC back to a point where Roon worked. FWIW, I haven't had any issue with MS updates and Roon. I would look at the Windows firewall settings. Roon should be listed and you can see if it is allowed or not. Bob |
I'm using Bitdefender and it's been working up till the middle of week. I even turned off my VPN and tried, no love. Heck, I even turnoff Bitdefender thinking something in Bitdefender might be blocking it.
I've opened the program and tried to run it as both "open" and and as "run as administrator" No luck there either. |
