Pangs of Love by Bruce Cockburn |
"I'm Not In Love" by 10CC is the song I would choose. You'd think by the title that this is not a love song but it is. Eric Stewart and the boys say they're not in love but they are! Denial is so hard to admit! The female whispered line "Be quiet, big boys don't cry.." puts the song into perspective. Let's just say this song hits home. Anybody have a tissue?

Love Song - Third Day
I know it's a retread that was mentioned by yr44 back in 2005, but I felt it needed another mention as it says it all. |
Schipo I also love the Bunny Berigan original of "I can't get started with you".
Years ago at MGM Studio in Orlando I went on the Tower of Terror ride and this is the song they play in the rather 30's style hotel lobby (waiting area) of the ride. I wonder if they still do? |
"I don't care about you" by Fear |
In 1974 the Allman Brothers Band introduced their set closing finale (after 3 1/2 hours of magic) and the opening notes of Whipping Post made the hair on your arms curl it was so good. |

Never Even Thought by Murray Head off of 'Say It Ain't So' |
Helena- My Chemical Romance |
I hope someone was cynical enough to have already included "What's Love Got To Do With It" by Tina Turner, or "Love Is Just a Four Letter Word" by Bob Dylan.
But I'm a sentimental cynic so I would also vote for "Have I Told You Lately That I Love You" by Van Morrison (mentioned above by Digsmithd) and add "Time After Time" especially as done by Miles Davis or Cindy Lauper. These two songs seem to apply not only to romantic love but also to the love and affection of family and friendship. Those are things even a cynic can get behind.
JPO |
I Will Not Let You Down, by Don McGlashan, on Warm Hand. It is a bit OTT, but can be very affecting. |

"Hangin' Out With Me" by the Supersuckers.
Wish the guys would play this at my wedding, if it ever comes to that God willing. Yeah, at my wedding in spite of a few lines in the song.
So simple, so rockin'. Sums up LOVE like no other song I know. We should all be so lucky ;) |
The first dance at our wedding: Jose Feliciano "Lover's Vows" is my favorite for the significance of the lyrics. For the beauty of the sound, I enjoy LeAnn Rimes "I Need You" |
"I Will" by the Beatles comes to mind. |

I am one of these people that just cannot name my one all time favorite song no matter how hard I try. There is just so much wonderful music out there that it is too difficult for me to pin down one song. |
My favorite one is: Imagine by John lennon. Btw, Reo speedwagon "keep on loving you" is great! |
Here's to Life by Shirley Horn. |
