Album which you have listened to most?
The Stone Roses - S/TLoved it when it came out and still love it now. Talk Talk's - The Colour Of Spring has been getting a lot of play time recently, but they are a more recent discovery for me.
5 must have classical recordings
Thrift store vinyl is a good gateway into classical music. You can often get great stuff for practically nothing. If you don't have a turntable, it's a good excuse to get one. Classical sounds better on vinyl anyway IMO. Issac Stern's recording of...
which budget integrated amp Rotel, NAD or other
The Brio 3 should drive those Ushers without a problem. The binding posts and RCA connections are not the highest quality, unfortunately. The source select and volume pots also feel a little cheesy, but they work fine.
Best system you can assemble for peanuts ?
It should be interesting to see what other people here consider "peanuts", but I agree. Depending on your standards it is possible to put together a system that sounds very nice for very little. I've spent most of my time in this hobby cobbling to...

Definitely give the Rega Brio 3 a listen. It's in the same wattage/price ballpark.
Anyone else in my shoes? Ears going.........
Sadly, yes. I'm only 36. I've tried to wear earplugs whenever possible when playing drums, etc..., but my right ear isn't what it used to be. Thankfully it's not really a ringing problem. Sounds more like it hasn't "popped" after an altitude chang...
Your ONE all time favorite love song?
Ella Fitzgerald and Joe Pass's version of "I May Be Wrong (But I Think You're Wonderful)"

The problems with radio are:1. A little less professional due to commercials.2. More obvious you are not paying ASCAP/BMI/SESAC due to said commercials.
indie/alternative favorites
I forgot Cat Power. I don't like everything she's done, but "The Greatest" is really something.

Looking for new monitors - $300-$600 budget
My wife and I listened to a few more today. Unfortunately the Morels were gone. Totem Rainmaker (new) - Pretty nice imaging, fairly open and natural sounding in the upper end. The bass seemed a little disjointed. Tony Williams' ride cymbal on "Mai...
Looking for new monitors - $300-$600 budget
Thanks for the new suggestions. I've listened to some PSBs and Paradigms a step or two down in the line pretty recently and wasn't wild about them. I do have a soft spot for Paradigm though. The first system I heard that really made me say "wow" w...
Mega-Speakers from Linn Audio....
I suppose there are plenty of inexpensive products that benefit from mods (Oktava microphones come to mind), but a Behringer amp? Really? No street address listed. No local phone number listed. Their primary dealer is in another state? As far as th...
How far away is your Nirvana
For me it's about having a good listening space. Thanks in part to the financial crisis, my wife's good credit, and a healthy amount of dumb luck we finally bought a house in December. Once the garage bicycle lab is complete I'll be able to de-clu...
Ipod or MP3 for hold music; mono adapter?
Sorry. I guess I'm not up on iPods. Looks like you might have to use a Nano to use a dock charger. I could be wrong though.
