Whats playing on your system today?

Today I decided to listen to two of my favorite rock guitar heros and one great vocalist. Guitarist' Robin Trower, Ronnie Montrose and vocalist Davey Pattison.

I listened to Trower songs:
Bridge of sighs, Stitch in time, The fool and me, my personal favorite- Too rolling stoned and others.....

Then I pulled out "Gamma".
I listened to: Razor King, Wish I was and Skin and bone and others.....

Davey Pattison hooked has also up with Michael Shenker also. I really enjoyed my day so far. Anybody else heard anything good?

Some Who to end the week and kickoff the weekend.  Live at Leeds is a great way to blow off some steam.  The My Generation medley and Magic Bus rock.

Unsuk Chin - Violin concerto No. 1 (2001)

Could be the best violin concerto of the 21st century, so far.

Contemporary, yet still quite approachable.

Ingrid Laubrock - The Last Quiet Place (2023)

The best jazz recording of 2023!

Progressive, complex, great interplay and playing by all musicians.

Sextet with Mazz Swift (violin), Tomeka Reid (cello), Brandon Seabrook (guitar), Michael Formanek (bass), Tom Rainey (drums)

I have been listening to Korngold:s wonderful Symphony in F Sharp with Rudolph Kempe.  This is often the recommended version of this symphony to listen to, but it’s the only version I have so I can’t comment on its placement per  the critics.  What I can say is I’ve never heard so many colors as I hear in his music and this Symphony is bursting with colorful music. It is one of those that repeated listening brings welcome familiarity and the more I listen, the more I like it.

I’ve been enjoying the “Auralic 2024” vendor playlist on Qobuz.  Very good sound quality and almost every track is interesting and new to me.  Well done!

Which Steve Hackett?  He’s been cranking stuff out all the time now for almost 50 years.
