Battle of the affordables
It’s crazy how the most affordable line is the most enjoyable, but I know what you mean. For casual listening the q series might be enough for most of us, but the ceiling is what it is. We’re paying for better cabinets, and parts that give the R a...
What is a good all around high quality speaker to purchase?
I listed my Yamaha ns5000’s because my wife says they don’t work in the living room decor. They acquit themselves well enough for me to contemplate keeping them and selling the Blades instead. Currently playing The Verve, urban hymns and can’t hel...
the gateway product that turned you into an audiophile
I think the first time I heard baba o’reilly while stoned I was hooked. Hardware would be the realistic sta 235b and pair of Bose 901 VI.
Battle of the affordables
The SVS floorstanders got an impressive review but appear to need a fairly large room.
Finally! I Made An Informed Choice
A shop I like to frequent managed to play 3 different dac's for me including a lumin, not sure the model, and a couple others. 1 of the dac's sounded colored and the other 2 while sounding different were so similar I could have been happy with eit...
Down town Chicago/St Louis and Atlanta.......
Hello. far west Chicago suburbs, more of a winter and rainy day hobby for me, but would likely be interested in a local group.
Has anyone actually heard the Dali Epikore 11? Impressions welcome.
BUMP, ....?
How to choose speakers that won't overpower your room?
I gave up on subs, maybe it’s in my head but I convinced myself they only blended with my speakers at a specific volume! I even got so bad I bought one of those velodyne subs that came with a volume remote, still no joy, but that’s my insanity.   ...
KEF Q11 vs. R11
While loudspeaker manufacturers drivers often look alike the different lines do often use different uni-q looks the same, but are built to a lower price as are the cabinets. I had a pair of q5’s a while back and they sounded better than the line a...
Kef Blade or Wilson Audio Alexia?
13 year old thread. I appreciate the care Wilson uses at shows. I've never heard a bad demo! on the other hand I've seen KEF setup the Blades in the middle of a loud open floor space and drive their speakers with budget components, as if they were...
Kef Blade or Wilson Audio Alexia?
It really doesn't matter when a thread about speakers is started does it? It always comes down to placement and component matching.
What type of speaker would sound better?
I've heard some 2 way speakers that sounded better than everything else in the same line from the same manufacturer! Power, room, placement all play a part, but unless you're just looking for loudness usually the 2 way with better components ought...
picking speakers (and electronics) for a relatively large room - new
The problem with googled is we look up a question and get sent to a thread that in this case is 6 years old.
Tin Pan Alley and Thanks to You- which speakers play the tap on the snares the best?
The DALI Epikon line really gets it right. I've got a pair of KEF Blades that i'm seriously considering selling to move to the Epikore speakers. Personally, I think the Blades are a better value dollar for dollar, but dali really did something spe...
Tin Pan Alley and Thanks to You- which speakers play the tap on the snares the best?
I just spent some time with the Dali Epikore line, probably my favorite lottery speakers right now, they have a rubikore line that doesn’t give up too much for us working class folk. Is he using a tube amp? I hear it humming in the background
