Whats on your turntable tonight?

For me its the first or very early LP's of:
Allman Brothers - "Allman Joys" "Idyllwild South"
Santana - "Santana" 200 g reissue
Emerson Lake and Palmer - "Emerson Lake and Palmer"
and,
Beethoven - "Piano Concerto No. 4 in G Major" Rudolph Serkin/Ozawa/BSO
slipknot1

@tgilb @slaw I too preordered Déjà Vu to replace my 1970 original and am hoping for the best. The last couple reissues I’ve received were not so great. I agree with @mammothguy54 on the digital sounding Thick As A Brick compared to my original and MFSL’s 45rpm of Brothers In Arms generally doesn’t surpass my original copy’s SQ and imaging.

Another new arrival today. A purchase inspired by @sbank

The Cleveland Quartet with Pinchas Zukerman, viola & Bernard Greenhouse, cello
Brahms - The String Sextets Op. 18 & 36
RCA Red Seal 1982, 2 LP gatefold

Another Bartók from this series arrived today. Some of these are really very nice…

Miklós Erdélyi conducts Bartók

  • Two Portraits, Op. 5 (1907-08)
  • Two Portraits, Op. 5 (1907-08)
  • Four Pieces For Orchestra, Op. 12 (1912)

The Budapest Philharmonic Orchestra
Hungaroton, Bartók Béla Complete Edition, I. Orchestral Music 3 1967

Ok, thanks for the clarification. Any of you watch the video Chad released recently? He says he's booked for the next 10 years, then retire.

@slaw

Roger that. I'll be sure to post my thoughts when the album is received and given a serious listen. It is an Atlantic Records remaster sold through Acoustic Sounds so unfortunately not from Analog Productions.

I've got a long list of albums that I wish Analog Productions would consider and release.

@tgilb ,

I meant to play my Classic Records "Deja Vu" recently and it slipped my mind. Let us know how the AS pressing sounds. Seems like Chad would've done a UHQR with that title?

C,S,N&Y - Deja Vu

1970 Atlantic Records

The title track is a beautiful and complex David Crosby masterpiece.

My original early pressing with great Audiophile SQ but with just a bit more background noise from the years than I care for so I have placed a preorder for the soon to be released 2021 remaster from Acoustic Sounds. Says it is pressed at Optimal in Germany. Hope I'm not disappointed.

Starless & Bible Black / Shape of the shape

This is a good electric folk band BTW.

Grieg-Peer Gynt(RCA  ARL-1-2613) Side A SQ Audiophile

ZZ Top-Rio Grande Mud Side 2

Don Henley-Building The Perfect Beast Side 1

Nancy Wilson-TLC Side 1 SQ Audiophile

Journey-Infinity Side 2

Al Stewart-24 Carrots Side 1 SQ Audiophile

The Tiffany Singers-ST(Roulette SR 25302) Side B

Stan Getz & Albert Dailey-Poetry Side 2

Everything sounded above average with Don Henley taking last place with a slight digital edge. 24 Carrots SQ is outstanding! SQ winner tonight, could be a demo disc need to spin again. TLC is one of Ms. Wilson's best. Words can't describe Poetry. Might be Stan's last great recording.

@sbank - Will do Spencer

Swans / Glowing man (still one of my all-time favorites)

+1   "Kenny Drew Trio" , Station to Station, Ella & Oscar. Some great sh*t spinning tonight!

@boxer12 hey Tim, check your "sporty" box.

Ella Fitzgerald & Oscar Peterson - Ella and Oscar. Ray Brown joins on the flip side. Pablo 1976

Jack White: Acoustic Recordings.

Listening before my class tonight MS Power BI fun...

Jack White Acoustic Recordings 1998 - 2016

Black Crowes - Three Snakes And One Charm

1996/2015 American Recordings Reissue

Super clean and great sounding reissue.

Earth, Wind & Fire - Gratitude

1975 Columbia Records

My favorite from that era.

SQ is super. The horns and bass guitar are fantastic.

Allman Brothers - Seven Turns

1990/2005 Epic/Friday Music Remaster

Average White Band - AWB

1974/2017 Atlantic/Friday Music Remaster

Not bad for a bunch of Scottish dudes.

Good remasters on both by Friday Music

JOE SAMPLE   "Old Places Old Faces"

KENNY DREW   "Kenny Drew Trio"

EDOUARD LALO. "Sym Espagnole" - Perlman, Barenboim

Dried cured salami, diced apples and Ireland sharp cheddar cheese topped with combo of cinnamon-sugar and apples. ( no nuts ). Still debating about the wine.

hey @bslon Terry Allen on Austin City Limits this week. Can probably find it online.

Thanks, I’ve seen it and it’s great! Recommended!

The two Dirty Knobs LPS, Wreckless Abandon & External Combustion. For those not familiar this is Mike Campbell’s group, formerly of Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers. Mike purposely stays out of the Tom Petty lane with more of a hard rock quartet and no keyboards. Both great records and recommended.

@dayglow I was able to pick it up for 40 bucks and couldn't resist. I haven't gotten very far into it, the phone rang a couple of times, but the vinyl appears to be in close to pristine condition and sounds great.
